Wealthy architect Alexander Rafferty hadn't returned to the kingdom just to build a luxury hotel. He'd come back to take revenge on Princess Sophie of Morgan Isle, the thoughtless young girl who'd played with his commoner's heart years before. He meant to seduce her, coldly and cruelly, then walk away without a backward glance. But once he came to know the elegant, sensuous woman she'd becomeand feel the unforgettable heat that still flared between themhe wondered if he'd ever be able to walk away again.…
Michelle Celmer was born in Detroit, Michigan, USA, where she grew up. She wanted to be cosmetologist, but after three months at cosmetology school, she decided to left it. She married at 19, and within five years had three kids. She read voraciously, and decided writing. She signed up for a composition course at her local community college. After various manuscripts, her mother gave her "Tell Me Lies" by Jennifer Crusie, and she discovered the romance novels. She decided writing her own romance novel and on 2004, her firts book was published.
Michelle continued linving in southeastern Michigan with her husband, their three children, two dogs and two cats. When she's not writing or busy being a mom, you can find her in the garden or curled up with a romance novel. And if you twist her arm real hard you can usually persuade her into a day of power shopping.
She loves to hear from readers. Write her at P.O Box 300, Clawson, MI 48017.
A typical Harlequin plot whereby the H & h had a previous relationship years before but were torn apart and now one of them wants revenge.
Although it was typical it was a good and well written which is ideal when you want to lay around and read something quick and easy. I would happily recommend Ms Celmer and this series to anyone who likes reading Harlequins.
I didn't have a high expectancy reading this. Why, some of books I read with Paul Marron on cover somehow turned out to be not that great. Except for Texas! Chase. :)) But perhaps it's because I found that this story was too short. And I expected more conflict of course. For a quick light reading, this one was good. :)
Princess Sophie's turn for romance. She and her brothers have purchased a hotel and have called in one of the King's architect friends to see to renovations. Sophie is shocked when she realizes it's Alex Rafferty, the guy she had an affair with back when she was much younger...the same guy she ghosted without a word after they'd promised to marry each other...the guy she basically dumped to pursue her culinary career (her parents gave her an ultimatum, lose him or no freedom). So, Alex is pretty embittered since he hasn't really gotten over it. He's looking for a little revenge - his plan is to dish it back out to her. He'll smooze her and seduce her and then dump her like yesterday's garbage. Problem is, he doesn't expect to fall in love with her all over again.
Here's another second chance romance that doesn't quite make the cut. It had potential, especially since Alex has just the right amount of bitterness and vengeful attitude, but you can tell he's still mostly falling for her and trying to talk himself out of it. He does get a bit contradictory at points where he believes she loved him back when and then does something to suggest he doesn't really. Alex honestly wasn't my problem...in fact, I like that he kinda got pushed into going through with his scheme and regretted it. He'd been dithering about whether to do it and then the moment just happened and he realized what he'd done. It felt right.
Sophie was my major problem here, which was unfortunate really, since she was my favorite part of the previous stories. First issue I had with Sophie is that she felt no remorse for the way she'd treated Alex...she knew she was in the wrong but refused to show any weakness so she barely even thought about how in the wrong she'd been. I mean, let's just reflect on the coldheartedness here...she's given the opportunity to stay with Alex or go to culinary school, so she goes to culinary school and then doesn't do a single thing with it. She got two years of freedom and she devastated the man that she loved. Granted, she had parent pressure and beliefs that Alex's life would suck being royal, but she didn't really give him much say in it, so it felt like an entirely selfish decision. Now, Sophie does pop out with an apology, but it feels like too little, too late (especially since it's in the last 5% of the book). And Sophie was a character that was perfectly established to make some major character growth - she's presented with flaws in not wanting to show weakness. So when the big betrayal happens and her brother confronts her with her own knowledge that Alex probably didn't really mean it and that she should tell Alex how she feels, does she finally learn to show weakness? Nope. She says, "that's not me." and leaves, fully prepared to once again let Alex go. It's Alex who comes after her, which is right, since he's the one in the wrong there, but she ends up making no growth and takes no risks for love. This was one of the few cases where the one who was wronged needed to step up and confront the wrongdoer so she could show what she'd learned and whatnot.

Didn't like it, not into the 10 year separation and hero marrying another woman sleeping with other women after marriage ended, heroine also slept with lots of othet men "distractions" as she called them. I did not like the heroine at all, she seems very selfish, she broke up with the hero to go to culinary school 10 years previously. Hero seemed so weak willed, he didn't chase after heroine when she broke up with him 10 years before and he married a woman he didn't love to get a job in his family business. Np.

THERE WERE MANY LOOSE ENDS THAT WERE NEVER TIED UP. IT WAS EXTREMELY PREDICTABLE WITH NO TWISTS OR TURNS. IT WAS POORLY WRITTEN IN MY OPINION. I WOULDN'T SUGGEST IT. ALSO VERY SEXUAL AND I SKIPPED PAST A LOT OF PARTS BECAUSE O FELT LIKE I WAS READING A 50 SHADES OF GREY NOVEL.
A nice light trashy romance is just what I needed after the dreary book I read before this one. The story is rather short but the plot is easy to follow and the sex is almost graphic enough to be pleasing. A nice fast hot and randy read. =)
I read this in Spanish and my Spanish isn't great, but I didn't get the impression much was happening and I didn't especially care about any of the characters.
