You know those books and movies where the sequel is just...meh? Yeah, that's not what we have here. This second in a series is freaking fantastic! Phenomenal! Out of this world amazing! I can't say enough good things about this book. It has earned its place on my list of favorite books this year, hands down. Fiona West truly outdid herself with The Un-Queen, and I thought that would be tough after the first book, where I was captivated by the worldbuilding and colorful characters she created. So ...more

I had the pleasure of beta-reading this sweet fantasy romance and really enjoyed it. Spending time with Abbie and Parker is like curling up on the couch under a blanket with a cup of coffee and a cinnamon roll. The banter is excellent, and all the characters (well, with a couple of exceptions) are people I would like to spend time with.

One of the things I liked most about this book was its portrayal of family life. It's so rare to find large families in fiction, period, so it's doubly nice to fi

A great second book that follows the trials and tribulations of Abs and Parker in the countdown to their marriage.

The house is in disarray, Parker cant possibly marry Abs unless she’s a queen, not an un queen which according to the betrothal agreement they signed stated they can, however people are suing her for breach of contract, Parker’s trying to control her life and all she wants to do is manage her illness, drink coffee and marry the love of her life

Not much to ask for in the schematic of

I'll admit it, I chose to read this book for it's cover, but found so much more. First, I appreciated the honest discussions and conflict between the engaged couple. That's not what you normally read in this type of story. Both Abbie and Parker had (and will continue to have) a lot to learn about handling conflict and working as a team, and it was often frustrating to see them screw it up so badly, but there was also very real progress made, which was fantastic to watch. The idea of having the r ...more

Once again I read The Ex-Princess and The Un-Queen back-to-back, which means I knew the entire story arc when I wrote my Ex-Princess review. With that said, I can go more in-depth on this review. I thought this was quite an improvement in terms of backstory and plot! I really liked how their was a prologue/backstory that recapped what has happen so far and more explanation on the status of magic.

I also liked how the characters had conversations about the magic in this world as it relates to the

General info

The story of King Edward and Abbie continues. The war might be over, but not all people are happy about it. Especially when Abbie has announced that she won't take the place of a queen. The are constantly fighting the odds while trying to plan a wedding.

Things I liked

I think I enjoyed this book even more than the first one. It's a beautiful story and it's even more romantic than the first book. Abbie and King Edward are now in love and fighting the fight together. The characters are

I really enjoyed seeing Parker and Abbie's story develop as this sequel picks up where the first book left off. The mysteries of The Veil, magic, and more are further explained in this light-hearted romance. With a strong female protagonist, The Un-Queen is chick lit at its best. A great summer read - I highly recommend! :)

I am currently interested in finding and connecting with more independent authors, especially authors newer to the writing world. I think in my mind I can help them find a bigger voice in the community. I’ve seen how impressive romancelandia can be with its strength in numbers. While my blog and Amazon review ranking are still fairly low, I’m working hard reading, writing, and promoting to bring people to authors’ books.

Enter Fiona West.

Fun yet thought provoking story. In this second book the run away princess has been found and the countdown to her Wedding begins. The magical lands this book is set in still have very real life issues to deal with: chronic illness, mental health, discrimination, jealousy and betrayal. Add those to the most times humorous stress of wedding planning and long distance relationships and you have an interesting, entertaining read!

I received an advance review copy for free, and I am leaving this revi

**BOOK 1 SPOILER** At the end of The Ex-Princess, the boy won the girl's heart, they made it home safely and they live happily ever after, right? **END BOOK 1 SPOILER**

Parker and Abbie might be childhood best friends who have found love, but she is still headstrong, independent, and from a Matriarchy that puts men's rights back a couple hundred years, and he is a leader who needs to protect and care for his people, especially the woman he loves. She is vivacious and impetuous, he needs tim

Like the first book in this series this romanace is an excellent read. The heroine & the hero are unconventional (She had Lupus & is the heiress of a kingdom where only women can rule (excluding her highly competent brother & the hero is king of a country where the rulers have to be Black) This books deals well with the problems of adjustment any engaged couple has but in romantic setting with a hint of magic. These people are real & reading it I wanted them to succeeded. The pace of the book is ...more

Character driven romance with some fantasy overlaid? What’s not to like?!? West does an amazing job of showing what it’s like to live with lupus without making Abelia pitiful or whiny.
