Sticky Sweet Cozy Mysteries #2

Double Chocolate and Death

The pull of the ocean can be deadly. A skilled surfer dies – is it murder? Lydia Doherty is living out her dream of owning a taffy shop on the Jersey Shore boardwalk. After a murderously rocky start, things finally seem to be going well, until the handsome lifeguard who saved her begins to question the circumstances surrounding the death of a surfer. Though the police seem to think that the drowning was accidental, Lydia suspects foul play, and finds herself once again irresistibly drawn into investigating what looks like a murder. Sorting out murderers and motives while trying to run a taffy shop is taxing, but Lydia dives right into the mystery. Will she find out the terrible truth?

This is Book Two in the Sticky Sweet Cozy Mysteries and I enjoyed it even more than Book One. Taffy Shop owner, Lydia, and lifeguard, Daniel, work together to solve what the cops think was an accidental drowning. I am really loving this new series!

Drowning your sorrows

Another good quick read that had me perplexed as to who the killer actually was. Was it the alcohol or was it a human agency? The characters still have a bit to go but they are improving with each read.
When a surfer drowns it's only the lifeguard and her employee that have doubts. Everyone else assumes that it was an accident fueled by alcohol. But why would a surfer be out without his lucky board and at night when he was scared of the dark? The more she and her sidekick (the lifeguard) find out, the more they think it was murder. Especially in view of the fact that the dead man was due to take part in a competition with a large prize in Hawaii. Will they work out who? Plus will she actually find another employee without scaring them off with her interview questions?

Lydia is looking forward to moving past the last few weeks. First, she needs to replace the employee that plotted against her from the moment they met. Her search for a safe replacement takes a backseat when Daniel asks her to look into a mysterious death at the beach. She can’t say no to the man that saved her life. When her brother Leo, a local detective, discourages her from looking into what appears to be an accident Lydia moves ahead without his support.
This is a great addition to the first book in the Sticky Sweet Cozy series. I liked that Daniel, the mysterious new bodyguard, comes to Lydia for help. This book is filled with well rounded characters. The setting is nice and easy to picture. The plot moves at a steady pace and I read it very quickly. I have already jumped into book three and I’m looking forward to reading each book in the series. I recommend this book.

An enjoyable cozy. While the police believe a death was accidental, Lydia, Daniel, and Jeff think it was murder. Once again, there are several suspects but this time they all have a motive. I had the culprit figured out this time. Once again, Leo is an incompetent a** but he's a little bit better than in Book 1.

Loved it more than the first book

I enjoyed this book so much. This series is so fun and refreshing. I had it narrowed down to two people that I thought could be the killer. I was wrong on both accounts. It was interesting to see how the murder was solved.

The second book in this series was good. The storyline was interesting and it took me a while to figure out who the killer was.

The only thing I would like to see are more in-depth characters. I would like to know more.

Gets better and better

Book #1 was good. Book #2 is even better. Loving Lydia more as her character develops although her questioning of future employees could use some improvement 😀

Things are getting closer

Nicely written. And so cute. I love it when two people seem so go together. On the other hand when two people fall apart murder comes a calling. A little death. And a little romance both in the same book. Love it.
