Be prepared to immerse yourself in a skin-tingling romance wrapped expertly in the dark cloak of an evil demon and the desire for self-understanding. Bobby's journey from bumbling spells to carving out new skills had me turning pages faster and faster with every bump and grind. McDougall's ability to paint such a believable world, from the darkest recesses to what grounds our humanity and hope, allowed me to fall into this book and never want to leave.

This is the first book series that I have read by this author and it won't be the last!
I found this to be an enjoyable set of stories that drew me in. Well-written with lots of imagery.

I really enjoyed this book and read it in one sitting. It’s the first time I’ve read a book by Kim McDougall but think I will have to read the rest of this series now. I loved the characters Bobbi the novice witch and Quinn with the experienced magic. Bobbi’s first spell ends up paralysing her but Quinn and his sister came to the rescue, only to introduce her to a world of real magic where she becomes the real hero. Definitely worth a read. I received a free copy from voracious readers. Totally fantastic. I was sucked in right away. Loved everything about the books
When I chose this book to read I had no idea it was a compendium of 5 books, so it was a long, but easy read. I met Bobbi a young witch who is called on to help save a coven of witches that is under threat. First, she must hone her skills and learn how to control her powers and then do battle with the evil that intends to destroy them all. An interesting read, with some interesting futuristic ideas.
