An Urban Standalone

Married To A Hood Legend is by far one of the best African American Urban Fiction books out. It’s available right here for your reading pleasure. In this riveting standalone, you’ll take an unforgettable ride with Twyla T. Her writing is very clever, and this story is unputdownable.

***WARNING*** This is not your typical, Urban Romance, Dope Boy, Thug Love, or Kingpin Savage book.

Heart pounding.

Nail biting.

Gritty.

Unique.

Genesis Alexander is living high off of life, enjoying her career and her life with her wonderful husband Sean. However, that bubble is quickly burst when a surprise greeting stares Genesis in her face. She reacts without thinking and has to decide on whether she wants to start over let guilt consume her.
A cheating man can dish it out, but they definitely can’t take it. Sean has no problem dipping his dip stick into anybody he pleases. He’s living a shady life, but still holds on to his love for his wife. Witnessing another man calling Genesis “his wife” sends Sean’s world into a downhill spiral. Will he able to turn things around before they have costly consequences?
Sean’s phuck boy ways are constantly showing up, along with his lying and cheating. Having enough, Genesis doesn’t hesitate spending some time with Maceo, a man that called her “his future wife” the first time they met. Bumping into him the first time is an accident. But the second time, it has to be fate. Who will Genesis choose: her past or fate?
Denise “Neicy” McKinley is a free-spirited woman whose spirit has connected with Jemarcus “Scrap” Coleman, a man that doesn’t do commitment. However, a trip to New Orleans changes the dynamic of their relationship, but is it for the better? As soon as they make things official, all hell breaks loose, wreaking havoc all over their lives. No one is left unscarred.
In Twyla T’s latest novel, drama fills each page, lies are unfolded, dark secrets are revealed, and personal vendetta is on the horizon. This is one standalone that you don’t want to miss.

Drama filled as Sean was insane and his actions proved it. I felt so bad for Genesis at times and was hoping the best for her. I liked Scrap and Neicy together despite their mishap. Storyline kept me reading to see how this would turn out. Good ending and standalone

Whew!

This was crazy! I don't need a spin-off, this was enough for 3 books, lol. I'm so glad everyone got what they deserved.

Must Read

This was a great standalone. Twyla definitely did not disappoint. I loved this story line. Things flowed great. Sean worked my nerves. He was such a dog and did not deserve Genesis. He played that woman so much. When he finally got caught he still didn’t change his way. Instead he ended up in a deeper situation. He honestly should have let Gen go so she could live her life and be happy. Gen was a good woman. She just dealt with a no good man as a husband. She went through some things that I’m sure nobody thought she would have to go through. Several situations revealed some truths throughout this entire read. I loved Maceo. That man was something else. He was rude when introduced but that made him who he was. Scrap and Niecey had their moments and in the beginning I blamed Scrap. He was scared to commit and was doing him while he wanted Niecey to be all about him. She wasn’t wrong for entertaining someone else. Now when things were revealed about who she was going on dates with I was shocked. Lol. That was more drama to deal with. Kela was crazy. In a way I don’t blame her but then again when the truth was revealed and she continued to fall for the games as well as play some of her own I really didn’t like her. She was something else. On a good note though I was glad that both cousins were able to find happiness though.

Round of applause

I give this story a round of applause 👏. This author came out the gate swinging with her first standalone. I have read all of her books, but this story is definitely my personal favorite. The characters are loving and so relatable. Gen and Neicy are some strong women. They surround themselves with true friends with Vee and Christy. Despite trying not to be in a relationship, Scrap couldn't let Neicy go. They go through some tests before things can turn around.

Sean puts Gen through the ringer, but when he thinks the shoe is on the other foot, he can't take it. He performs unquestionable acts, creating an avenue for Maceo to walk on in. Sean and Kela did the absolute most while Stephanie tries to be relevant when she is not even a thought.

Gen and Neicy are forever connected to hood legends that will protect them and love them furiously. I happily recommend this book and author.

PHENOMENAL READ

Ms. Twyla T. did her thang again. Man this book was everything.I could not put it down. Sean was an ain't shit nigga to begin with but then I wanted to jump in this book and whoop his ass myself. He was doin to much but when he went overboard when he wad the one in the wrong I hoping Gen killed him in his sleep but the got his. I'm glad Gen finally got with Maceo. He showed her what a real man was. I love Nicey she didn't play no games and Scrap was perfect for her. I was shocked when I found out who Mr. Irresistible was...lol. They held each other down and he was there for her when she needed him the most. I loved it. I wonder if we could get a spin-off.....lol💙💕

🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟

I’m cthu at the end! I was SURE about to ask “pleeeeaaasee can we have just a little more?”. But this was a GREAT standalone, not real short, but not extra long. I love reading a book & you can’t say “huh, i know what’s about to happen next”...With that being said, I’m so glad Niecy or Gen didn’t die (or the twins)...lol while reading, a little before and after the baby shower, i stopped reading and said to myself, i do not feel like crying & messing up my lashes today messing with this one 😉😂🥰 Well, i still cried anyways but it was all good! I would’ve finished yesterday, on release day, but i saved it to have something to read at work..& it was well work the wait 😊 Thanjs for another great story! Looking forward to the next one 😊

Trash

I do not know where to start the story line was horrible. Title is miss leading. It did not deserve a second installment. It took the whole book to get to Gen and maceo who I thought were the main characters. Her cousin story was so much better and she was supposedly a supporter character. I skimmed the whole book. I’m a speed reader and I slow down for good writing. I wish I didn’t have to finish what I start. I would have deleted this book after the first chapter. This writer has gotten worse not better. I read at least 200 books a year. All of hers I come across have only gotten worse I have to remember to just keep going when I see her name. I understand it’s fiction but dang something has to be believable

Satisfied Reader

I need me a Hood Legend!!!!!
Married to someone that you thought you knew. That was Gen and Sean. She was so in love with him that she was blind to what was best. I was so happy that there was light and she was finally able to be free. Maceo told her without her knowing him at all. He was a man of his word. Scrap had to get it together otherwise he was gon miss out on the best thing that ever happened to him. Neicey was always down to fight no matter what the situation was. She was a true friend\cousin to Gen. Stephanie was coo coo and Kela was just crazy

Amazing Amazing Amazing

Geesshhhh, every time I think I have a favorite book from Twyla she comes and drops another banger!! I felt like I was getting two stories in one!! Gen and Sean then Niecy and Scrap!! I absolutely loved Scrap and Niecy and I’m so happy he stopped fighting what was inevitable! I think I screamed at Gen the whole book until she woke up and let Maceo come in and swept her off her feet! Sean is not worthy of anything! I HIGHLY RECOMMEND THIS BOOK!!

Very well written.... Very good!!! A little confused, but still good...

Started out a little bit confused as to who was the star in this story but everything worked out afterwards...
Genesis well was it... She was truly a beautiful soul, hardworking, intelligent and just beautiful inside and outside.
Sean, welllll.... What a douche... A womanizer, a leech, a woman beater yet he couldn't fight with men, lazy and a bum, a ugly inside and out. He deserved everything that happened to him, albeit a little bit too late..
Maceo, hummm... I would have loved to get to know him better as he entered the story a little bit too late, yet still the little bit we have of him, was gooooood.....he was alpha boss man, confident, cocky, he was a dream.
Niecey was so cute, so strong, so down to earth, hilarious, intelligent, boss lady, loyal and loveable. She also is beautiful inside and out
Scrap/Jamarcus, hummm just like Maceo, fine as hell, alpha boss man, a legend and definitely a wet dream.
These people made up the whole story but what was so bad was that we got rushed at the end while the beginning was a slow, turtle speed, and right before it ended, everything rushed in, and couldn't even get an elaboration as to what was happening; but since there were no grammatical errors, I was still able to give it a 5 stars....
Vee, Christie, Craig and Vinny were the true definition of besties. Kala and Stephanie were good riddance...
Now looking for another standalone from MS. T!!!

Must Read!!!

The setting is right where I live (Jackson, MS). So I knew all the places that was mentioned. Neicy and Scrap are a hilarious but perfect for each other. I glad they figured out their feelings and realized it before it was too late. Sean really thought he was gone live a double life. Kela dropping those two bombs on Sean and giving him an ultimatum really pressure on him. Genesis was too forgiving at first especially when it came to Sean. I glad she finally got away from and found someone better. Macro is perfect for her. Sean got what he deserved because he went to far. I really enjoyed reading this book. I hate that we won't be getting a part 2 or a spin-off.

Hmm.

So I loved the characters but I felt ripped off by being given so much info on Gen but her happily ever after being rushed and dismissed. Their relationship had no build up, no substance and I felt like I missed a lot like there love scene, the first date, phone convos etc. scrap and his love life alone would have gave the book 5 stars but too much was given about Gen and not delivered which knocked it down to a two for me. Maybe she could get her own book? Otherwise would have been a good story. Also what ever happen to Kira? She got given a very, very bad hand. Poor girl.

Okay read

The book was a decent read. The book
Seemed to be more about scrap & neicy & Sean with different women. I assumed based on the preview Genesis role would be bigger in the book with maceo but it was smaller. I was confused again on how Genesis and maceo confessed to love each other at the airport when they barely was In contact with each other. Only twice in the book. I know this is fiction but make it believable a little bit cuz there is no way they fell in love after running into each other at a Popeyes for the 1st time then spent one full day talking. Happy ending for everyone involved.

What's Done In The Dark

Sean was really a piece of crab to the fullest degree. He had a community sex tool that he was dishing out to strippers unprotected and ex-girlfriends while cheating on his wife, Genesis. It was good that when Sean flipped out on Genesis that she had family support to leave Sean and start over. I'm glad that Neicy and the twins wasn't hurt and that Neicy and Scrap still going strong. Genesis received real love from Maceo which was exactly what she needed after being married to Sean. I want to know why Genesis didn't keep that same energy when she caught Sean cheating and shooting him an then just cried when he jumped on her.

Real love

Yes come through my petty T. Twyla you have never disappointed with each book you're connected to I see growth dedication compassion. Baby Gen was a G I'm not mad for the move out the nightstand. Sean was beyond psycho. He wanted it all and look what happened to the greedy butt whole. Everything about Macro and Scrap said Boss brothers straight go getters. I am so happy with the bond that was displayed with Neicy Gen Bee Christie. Amazing job. Oh by the way don't be saying this bus it!! What's next

Good Read

A really good read. I was slightly disappointed that there was so much of Sean and his crazy ways and less of Gen an Maceo. Gen and Maceo did not really engage with each other until a little more than halfway through the book. Kela wanted Sean from Gen soooo bad, but she didn’t know who Sean really was. Sean got what was coming to him. Some women should really understand if a man will cheat on his wife, you ain’t going to be no different. Stephanie was real deal crazy 😝. Overall great standalone.

Great read

Glad Sean got what was coming to him! Maceo I love me a man that is up front and know what he wants! He told Gen from the Walmart i city hat she was his future wife and just that! Scrap and niecy I’m glad they finally got there stuff together! Maurice was a nice older man and had the swagger of a younger man but bunnies when they went to the momma house and he used that Phone and seen what his dad name was! I knew it was over but thank God Scrap listened and he went for his women! Now they all living happily ever after!

Twyla did her thing👏

Man this book was good damn! Twyla did her thing with one. So glad that this was a standalone, which is rare these days. Seem as though every author has a part 2 to their books, which is getting on my nerves. Anyway, Sean was a dog for how he treated Gen, but he got his karma and some. Maceo was the man and he loved Gen the first time he saw her. Gen deserved her HEA! Glad Scrap and Niecy got their relationship together and got their HEA. Good read and worth purchasing. Until next time Twyla.

Good

Good book. Nice completed standalone. Sean was batshit crazy lol. His antics were off the wall. I’m kind of glad gen didn’t find out the whole truth, she was too good of a person to be hurt like that. And I saw that Mr. Irresistible twist coming!!! But nonetheless I loved Neicy, she was my favorite character. Maceo, left a little to be desired though. I didn’t too much care for their relationship. They met all of 1.5 times (that first one barely counted lol) and suddenly they were madly in love. But it was still good though. Good book!

Boring

It was something about this book I couldn’t get into it. It was as if the author was forcing the characters on us. This book was more about niecy then gen. This book was so boring it wasn’t realistic who really falls in love in 2 days. How is everything not awkward when you dated someone daddy um okay. Felt the book was rushed what happened to Craig when he went to jail. The shoot out was pointless scene because we didn’t know who or why it happened but was handle. Still confused how you made Sean switch up on gen but was scared of kela.

Very Interesting

I haven't read a book in about a year. In my opinion this was different from the urban books I read. I loved Niecy she did not play. I like the fact Scrapp had a hard side but when it came to Niecy he was a softee. Gen had everything going for herself but choose the wrong man. Sean was stupid not crazy how long did he think him trying to have all these different lives could be kept a secret. My only complaint was I wish Maceo and Gen relationship would have developed more. I don't remember is misspellings., book was written well.

Ehh

This story seemed rushed. I’m not a believer of love at 1st sight. So perhaps this just wasn’t the book for me. Maceo & Gen made no sense at all honestly. How do you tell someone you love them after the 1st LINK 🤣? This book also could’ve had better character development. Some characters were completely 100% irrelevant & served absolutely no purpose of being mentioned lol. Overall has potential, but this isn’t a must read. Cool as like an in between book while you’re waiting for another book to come out?

Maceo I knew was gonna bump into Genesis again and I'm glad he became Bae for Gen because Sean wasn't only crazy but his side chicks were also, Stephanie and Kela just did too much!!! Ughhh I'm glad Scrap came to his senses because Neicy was the perfect woman for him!! Awesome Read Twyla you never disappoint!!

Love From a Hood Legend

Wow! This was a book I did not want to put down! I fell in Iove with Scrap and Maceo. These women deserved the best men and they finally found that love. Sean and Stephanie were horrible people. I did not take a liking to Shakela either. There is truly a thin line between love and hate, but controlling and abusing someone is not love. This book shows the love and the hate and how when a real man really loves someone, he plays for keeps.

Great book!

I think Twyla T has written a little over thirty books and I've read them all. Her stories captured your attention from beginning to end. This one is no exception! Neicy and her crew stuck together through thick and thin. Nothing or no one could break their bond. Maceo and Scrap are real MVP's. The storyline keeps your mind whirling about what else could be happening. This is a good read from a great author.

Sean put Genesis through a lot. He was the definition of a Man wanting his cake and eating it too. Just because he was the first in her life he expects her to take everything he dished out. I can’t believe it took so long for his ways to present themselves.

I loved Neicy and Scrap and so happy they he got over his daddy issues and kept it together for a real lady. They had so many things in common and are made for real other

Until next review

Didnt really grab me..

I found myself skipping through the book. The whole scrap, niecy a d his dad gave me the movie.. "The Brothers" vibes.. when gabrielle union had went on dates with Morris chestnut dad before meeting Morris. Even down to the mom conversation with the son. This the first book from this author but I'm not gonna give up.. I will try other books from her as well.. this one just wasn't it for me...maybe another one will..

👍👍👍👍👍

Ok Twyla!! Loved it. Man Sean was crazy. Can't believe he kept up with all that foolishness and had the nerve to put his hands on Genesis. But Genesis real husband found her. Maceo was definitely an upgrade!! Then her cousin Neicy was crazy but love her to the max. She had her own issues with Scrap but they finally got it together. They all were made for each other. This was a good read.

Review

If a book is read in one day, it’s considered damn good. Twyla put her all into this standalone.
Sean thought he had it all together, but it came crashing down around him. He tucked his tail between his legs when Maceo shut him down, but his pride wouldn’t let him. That was a mistake on his part. His second mistake was what he had done to Neicy. Those hood legends didn’t play about their women, and Sean found that out soon enough.

Queen, you did that

Page turner no doubt... I was ready to fight Sean myself and that girl Stephanie... Gen disappointed me but I can truly relate to what she was dealing with. Domestic violence is nothing to play with. On another note, I loved me some MACEO and Niecy... They were down for whatever and I loved it... I was so happy and at peace with how it ended... Thank you Queen
