If anyone tells you hunting ghosts is less dangerous than chasing down real-life criminals, they’re wrong. Very, very wrong.
Case two takes us to a New Jersey Shore Inn. A beautiful, yet dead opera singer seems to be begging for help, but her pleas do nothing but terrorize the locals.
While trying to decipher the clues to her 1919 disappearance, uncovering hair-raising horrors, it becomes clear that Jason and I no longer see eye-to-eye.
Jason wants me to stop meddling with the supernatural. He wants me to stop risking my life by interacting with demons and spirits.
What he doesn’t understand is this is my life. These tortured souls need my help in order to move on. How do I walk away from that—from them?
But the better question is—how do I walk away from him?
Lori Zaremba writes paranormal romantic suspense featuring ghost hunting, cold-case mysteries, and time-slip investigations into the past. She is the author of the Trudy Hicks Ghost Hunter series, which follows a former police officer who helps restless spirits cross over by uncovering the crimes that bind them to the living world.
Her stories combine atmospheric hauntings, emotional stakes, and slow-burn romance for readers who enjoy paranormal mysteries with heart.
I’m giving this story 5 stars just like the first book. The storyline is good in that, just like with the first book, there are several ghosts involved and an old house. Whether good or bad, these ghosts are believable as are their stories. I’m a believer in the supernatural so of course I couldn’t put this down.
This is book two in the ghost hunter/detective series. Gertrude/Trudy was a police detective with the uncanny ability to see and hear ghosts. She is divorced with a teenage son and after a couple of close calls, she retired to open her own agency. Along with her best friends, Dana, a psychologist/medium and Leslie, a lawyer, she embarks on her new career. They travel around the country together with a large crew of cameramen.
Book two is about an old beach house built in the early 1900’s and has been haunted almost since the beginning. Now, the new owners are opening it as a vacation retreat, but the ghosts are not friendly and downright mean. The history of the house is in boxes of papers in the attic. It is up to Trudy, Leslie and Dana to unravel the mystery. They no sooner arrive when they are assaulted by something dark and sinister. All three woman experience dreams of the good ghosts as if they want to communicate. No one is getting much sleep and they are all fearful for their lives. Joe, the FBI agent turned ghost hunter and his crew also work with Trudy and are experiencing similar episodes. When one of the ghosts takes over the homeowner’s mind, the research is almost halted.
However, Trudy refuses to give up. From here on it is nonstop action. The house’s story is more sordid than anyone could imagine. All in all, this story is a good mix of action and adventure. I highly recommend this series.
The Kept is the 2nd book in the Trudy Hicks Ghost Hunter series by Lori Zaremba. It is the 2nd book in the series I have read as well. I love the characters in this book and the ghosts as well. Lori makes this a fun but spooky read with the great characters. There is a lot of romance in this book between Trudy and Jason. I would say bliss but there is a lot of fighting between the 2 as well. The ghosts are awesome though and the Ocean Inn sounds like a place I would love to visit.
In the book Trudy and her band of ghost hunters are on their way to New Jersey to the Ocean Inn to rid the place of the ghosts before the place opens to the public. Once there they find themselves not only ridding the place of the ghosts but also trying to solve a 100 year old cold case. In the early 1900's blond girls start coming up missing as well as members of the family who owned the home. Some of the spirits at the home are good but some not so much. Trudy almost looses her life to the spirits more than once in this book.
This is a pretty fast paced book and the backstory of the family is as awesome as present day. I can't wit for book 3 in the series to not only find out where the group will go next but also to see if Trudy and Jason start their happily ever after.
I received this book from the Author or Publisher to read and review. The gifting of this book did not affect my opinion of it.
Lori Zaremba has done it again! I cannot get enough of Trudy Hicks and her ghost hunting adventures. This series is shaping up to be be one of my all time favorites. Between the amazing writing that wraps you up entirely in this world and the non stop action, mystery and romance I can’t pick up either book in the series without devouring them. Lori Zaremba does such a brilliant job seamlessly weaving together the past and present as the mystery unfolds. More than once I found myself with goosebumps brought on by how emotional and intense some of the scenes were! This time Trudy and the gang are not only unraveling the mysterious past of the former owners of this inn, they’re also tackling a case of missing girls from a hundred years in the past. I adore how the ghosts themselves and their lives are as much a part of the story as Trudy, Jason and all their friends are. It’s almost like getting two books in one as the story of everyone from the past weaves its way through Trudy and Jason’s story. Trudy and Jason also have their own battles to fight in their lives while solving this haunting. The closer they become the more battles they have to overcome between Trudy’s past and Jason learning to adapt to her brand of crazy. Through everything though this couple is a team that holds strong. I am beyond excited to see where the next book is taking us!
Got the book today and read in one sitting. I loved the first book~Case One the Deceit, but i have to say Case Two is even better. Hands down the best book I've read in a while. The ghost story in this one is brilliant, I fell in love with Johanna the opera singer... and the dark secrets the team digs up -had me crying. I'm not revealing any more. Just be ready for a heck of a ride.
Absolutely fantastic. Trudy, Jason, and their co-workers are determined to solve the mystery of several missing young women as well as the last of a mansion turned hotel. Fascinating and well written characters in a story of a cold case from the 1920's. Paranormal activity, suspense, romance, and some surprising twists in the plot made it impossible to put this book down. I highly recommend this book and series.
Be prepared to stay up all night to finish this book!!
The Trudy Hicks Ghost Hunter series is phenomenal and I can't wait to read the third in the trilogy. Lori Zaremba has a great series of books and I would recommend them to anyone!
