Black Dreams is the eleventh book in the Quentin Black Mystery series by J.C. Andrijeski. WHY? WHY? WHY? Have I not discovered this author before now? I have seriously been missing out on some stellar reads, and that is something I plan to remedy starting immediately. This turned out to be quite the epic book binge- and I enjoyed every single second- even if the author constantly had my heart in my mouth, or had me pulling my hair out in frustration, or seemed to delight in toying with my emotions pretty much the entire time- I willingly went back for more each and every time. Sixteen books in and I can’t wait for more!!! Seriously, this series truly is a MUST-READ, especially for anyone who loves really original paranormal mysteries with incredible world-building and scene setting. If you love immersive reads, then this is definitely the series for you! But be warned, this isn’t a ‘light and fluffy’ cozy paranormal mystery- this has plenty of gritty, raw, violent, emotive, and a ‘hang on to your seat’ and brace yourselves because this is going to get INTENSE situations. There are potential triggers contained through the series- such as violence, murder, abuse, sexual abuse, manipulation, graphic language and more. So keep that in mind if you are sensitive to any of those subjects. I stumbled on this series purely by accident, and this is another fortuitous find of late, because not only was I hooked on the story within the first few pages and practically inhaled the entire series back-to-back…. it is also turned out to be entirely addictive reading, with Ms. Andrijeski’s stellar storytelling talents, her clever and intriguing touches, the many well-developed and interesting characters, the brilliant ‘world’ creation, and all the other rich layers and ‘flavours’ she poured into her pages, made the real world fade away as I was swept along on adventure after adventure. J.C. Andrijeski’s world building skills are sheer perfection, putting me front and centre to all the action-packed developments in this immersive, captivating, and addictive book/series. I am so hooked on her work now and will happily devour anything she ever produces- so I see plenty of book binges in my future. This is a heart-stopping, action-packed, intense, mystery with tension, intrigue, seers, vampires, chemistry, sizzle, science fiction, crime, investigation, deadly games of cat and mouse, murder, violence drama, danger, friendship, politics, agendas, and so much more that I won’t get into here because I really don’t want to spoil it for you. Ms. Andrijeski has a bold, dynamic, and very vivid writing style that easily brings her story to life- it was like watching a movie play out before my eyes, The descriptions are quite detailed and painted a powerful picture- I really could see this making a fantastic movie or television series. Highly Recommended Reading!!! Happy Reading…
I Can't Get Enough Of The 'Seer' World!!😍🙏🌟💥 (Read using Kindle Unlimited) Black Dreams (Quentin Black Mystery Book 11)
Seriously this Author, she's a genius!!🙏 She writes the best characters in the most captivating worlds with the most messed up, but at the same time, blessed lives!🙈🌟💥
Miri, after the trauma of Nick's return & heartbreaking abuse towards her, starts disappearing. Initially Black & Miri both except her quasi acceptable excuses. Then after her drugging him, using her position & Seer abilities to manipulate the security staff to escape to meet with Brick, Vampire King. She has to face his wrath, humiliation & theirs!!😞💔 Then Angel actually sees her physically disappear!!😱
She has no memory of where she goes once she returns. She does have huge marks, cuts bruises & other injuries though. Black is petrified & angry!!😡😭 He eventually finds a way to go with her. He's shocked, more angry & feels betrayed by what he finds! I loved who they found, who Miri had been visiting on some of her disappearances 😍
Fans of this World will be ecstatic with this book 💥😍 I know I was!🙏💕 However I *wasn't* ecstatic with Black! His 'Seer' was shining bright in this book. His ridiculous anger over her rape, her travels, his jealousy more anger - I wanted to knock some sense into him, thankfully someone much more suitable & bad@ss did it for me!!😂🔪
A thoroughly gripping, frustrating & annoying read in all of the best ways.😍💥
I adore JC Andrijeski’s Quentin Black tales. Not only because of the wonderfully crafted and totally realistic paranormal mysteries that they are, but also because of the perfectly done romance between Quentin and his partner, forensic psychologist Miri Fox (who is so perfectly crafted that she could easily star in her own series. Now they’re back in Black Dreams (Quentin Black Mystery Book 11). This is really Miri’s turn and well, just wow, does she get a fantastic story to shine in. This is total fun, and with a heck of a wallop of a plot twist. Fans of the series will be totally delighted (a great story in itself and one that answers a bunch of questions). Newcomers will definitely love it too as it works as s standalone (though that plot twist will have much more punch for those who have read the series. This is just great stuff. But for the fact that I’m literally dictating this review to my husband from my hospital bed I could go on and on with praises. The book definitely deserves it. Since I can’t do that I will simply note that the book is most definitely one to read, and it is easy to highly recommend. I’m definitely looking forward to the next book in this series.
Everything changes in this book. With Miri literally vanishing into thin air Black struggles to keep it together. We get a glimpse into different versions of Earth. We see Charles dastardly plot expand. We find out what happened to Nick. And we finally get some understanding as to what our heroes are.
This book feels like the beginning of the end. With some but not all the questions answered. With deeper insights into Black and his thought processes. And a certain knowledge that in end that Black will either be Earth's saviour or the cause of it's ultimate destruction. Which it will be. Well that is the question as yet answered. Well done JC keep up the good work.
Miriam's dreams start following her back into the real world, scaring the hell out of her husband, military-trained seer, Quentin Black.
If you have read one or especially both of the Bridge and Sword World and Quentin Black series by this author you will adore this story. It will give you closure on the former and a major development for the latter. I'm struggling with what to write without spoiling this story for the reader, so all I can say is OMG and WOW. Well written and clear/easy to understand this can be read even if you are not familiar with the series but you will get so much more from this if you have.
Miri disappears into thin air when she gets overly stressed and doesn't know how or why it is happening. With all that has happened since her best friend, Nick, has returned and all the awful and disgusting things he has done, her disappearing is beginning to affect her marriage and trust with Black. Can they figure it out and stop the disappearances or will Miri be forced to continue her dangerous transportations. This was another exciting book in the series.
I am smiling and in awe of the results. Really this book had more revile and put pieces together . Miri has big shoes to fit and Black just has to let her. Issues may be resolved between them because of the "HokusPokus", lol Action, suspense, mysteries past and really past. Old characters come back to help this marriage and teach Black a lesson in not to be an arse, lol Awesome! Just very awesome! Thank you JCA for your mad mad skills, imagination, and the fact that you may have used your life adventures in this and all your series
Black Dreams: A Quentin Black Paranormal Mystery Romance...
Quentin Black Mystery book 11. Another great read in this series. Black and Miri are still on different pages but the love remains. Now add the Nick situation, fanatics purists for Uncle Charles, riots and Miri time jumping disappearing acts. The secrets, betrayal and unresolved issues will take you on an unbelievable trip. This is crazy good. Onto the next book.
Black Dreams by JC Andrijeski is a powerful story. Miri is such a strong character! She balances out Quentin, but she's a woman of set determination that makes her own choices and deals with the consequences as they arise. Black Dreams is filled with new, exciting circumstances. I'm ready for more, so JC Andrijeski better get writing!
While I enjoyed the story, I was really frustrated by the sudden shift in topic. I had been reeled in by the original storyline and suddenly, jarringly I was left hanging with so many unknowns dancing in my head. New story was good but not what I wanted at that moment.
This is not my favorite book in the series, I don't really like the helplessness of Miri and Black at the first half of this book. It started to get interesting in the second part. I like the symbolism! We'll see where it goes, next up in Black of Hearts... Miri disappears again. Seriously? Oh well.
What is this new ability Miri has? Why does she keep transporting herself to alternate versions of Earth, and will this somehow help win the war against Charles and his minions?
Miri really comes into her own in this one. These isn't much details you can go into without revealing some big secrets but they are whoopers. It will be interesting to see where things go from here.
They are so many facets to this series but as always they keep us on our toes and provide entertainment. Clever weaving of past and present events and characters without upsetting the current plot.
Not one of my favorites in the series. Although I enjoyed revisiting characters from the Bridge & Sword series, I am missing the intensity and structure of that other world. The sci fi premise seemed much more intelligent and creative. This world with its whimsical creatures? Not so much.
Miri and Quentin are struggling with everything that is thrown at them. Just as they master some dynamic of their relationship, another crisis arrives to wreak havoc in their lives.
Miri is stressed out. So stressed out that when she finally falls asleep she has terrible, realistic dreams — and disappears! Black is frantic. Where is she going? What’s happening??
‘Black Dreams,’ was an incredibly brilliant read! Though things are far from okay in Black and Miriam’s world... the hits keep coming! And with a new and exciting plot twist, things become very interesting indeed!
