Being a English literature student, I have read alot about William Shakespeare. So the idea of picking this book is to know what the writer has written above my knowledge.
Congratulations to him. The writer, N. Chokkan has written things which are unknown to me. He has grabbed the whole image of William Shakespeare.
From my perspective, Shakespeare is a man of mystery. There are alot of secrets running around the name "William Shakespeare or Who is Shakespeare?" Which is handled by the writer very well.
The book is divided into nine chapters. Each chapter discuss the life, birth, work, theatre, theatre group and who is Shakespeare.
Chokkan has used a lot example phrase to make the situation understandable to the readers. His metaphors and proverbs adds beauty to the work. He has jotted down the various opinion running around the single name "Shakespeare"
The idea of writing this book (from my opinion) is taking Shakespeare to the hands of Tamil reading audiences. This has done that deed perfectly.
What I like -
1. The style of narration is brilliant, mixing opinion and his point of view. 2. Proverbs and metaphors are handled properly. 3. John Shakespeare's history
What I don't like
1. Alot of opinions are filled in single page.

This is an excellent book in Tamil written about the the life of Shakespeare. The simple , but elegant style of writing by the Author N.Chokkan , is really great. The way he carries the story in the beginning with the all prevailing guess works about Shakespeare's life, finally giving solid proof for the the main incidents in the life of Shakespeare, is noteble . The story on 'Who is Shakespeare' is also worth reading ! The Author gives very nice writing about the drama stage in the auditorium named 'The Globe' ! He also talks about the important plays Shakespeare wrote , mentioning the period in which they were written. On the whole, this is a very good book for the Tamil readers to know about Shakespeare year and his plays.
This brief about Shakespeare in Tamil is great initiative to introduce him for a huge number of readers, as Shakespearean read still remains limited only for English Literature students. This book may help any native Tamil speaker to experience some of the greatest works of world literature ever. The repetition at some points interrupt the flow of the read, otherwise a good read.
