Claudia Westh Lonning har med Skakmesteren fra Tirana skabt en meget fascinerende, medrivende og lærerig fortælling. På en fantastisk måde har hun kombineret historiske facts med en spændende slægtshistorie, og det efterlader læseren både oplyst og med grobund for refleksion.

Det er en god historisk fortælling, der elegant binder en baske historie sammen med de konsekvenser det har på det personlige plan for mange efterkommere i nutiden.

Det er en stærk debutroman, som lover godt for flere bøger.

Skakmesteren fra Tirana er en historisk fortælling om en mand, Safet, i en modstandsbevægelse i Albanien for maange år siden, og hans barnebarn Julie som skal finde hendes identitet.
Det er plottet som har formet sig i min hjerne.
Jeg glædede mig rigtig meget til at læse denne her bog, men kom kun halvvejs inden jeg gav op..
Skakmesteren fra Tirana, er meget historisk drevet, og derfor ville en interresse for denne tidsalder og denne historiske konflikt nok være et must.

En udsøgt fornøjelse at lade sine øjne danse sig gennem det flydende og varierede sprog i Claudias imponerende debutroman. Handlingen er godt vævet sammen i spændende historiske rammer. Bogens personligheder er sympatiske og interessante, og man får som læser lyst til at følge dem, så bogens sider vender nærmest sig selv. Glæder mig allerede til mere fra Claudias hånd.

This book is very interesting. I didn’t know anything about Albania before, but someone suggested this book to me, and I read it in just two days. It is written in a way that you cannot put the book down, and now I know about Albania’s history. I will recommend it to anyone.

En rigtig god bog, hvor man på underholdende vis får en masse at vide om et tidligere meget lukket Albanien. Det er en bog, man har svært ved ar lægge fra sig.
