Defiant Princess

Rate this book
They called me trash. They called me whore. They called me so much worse.

They told me I didn’t belong in their world, and you know what? Maybe they were right.

But I can’t just let this go.

I’m still a Hildebrand, after all, and I’ve only just begun to scratch the surface of what that legacy means.

There are secrets buried in Roseland, and I’m determined to dig them up. To make the Princes pay for what they did.

Trying to exact vengeance from hundreds of miles away isn’t easy though—until a mysterious ally offers help that could change everything.

At least someone is on my side in all of this.

I just have no idea who it is.

Defiant Princess

So thankful to have gotten this before being pulled from Amazon. I think it is beyond ridiculous the bullying going on here. All bully romances currently have a lot of similarities. I have read the BoBH books and love this series so much more and see the differences more than the similarities. I am heartbroken to hear book 3 will not be released with this cliffhanger. It amazes me how a supportive group of people can flip a switch so quickly and attack someone so ruthlessly. I guess whichever boys you love most would be proud of you for no mercy. Callie Rose wrote this series with heart wrenching emotion and writes in a way that keeps you on your toes. I hope this awful attack doesn’t discourage her from what is clearly her passion. These characters are individually carved out into real people that are unlike any others I have met and that is where the true individuality of this series lies. Keep your head up Callie!

I received this as a Beta read, but all thoughts/opinions are my own.

Callie just continues to blow me away with the amazing ability she has to draw you in to a story! Her writing skills are more than amazing, and her attention to detail is admirable. The character development and growth in this book is the best.

I had high expectations with this book, and I can honestly say she blew them out of the water! I laughed, I cried a little (that stays between us) and I found myself so immersed in the story, so invested in these characters and the plot. She answered many questions, just to give me more things I had questions about, and I love that. I love being so interested in a story that I am dying to know the answers to things. Talia is SUCH a badass B in this book, and I couldn’t be happier because the one thing I wanted was for her to grow more of a backbone. Lemme tell you, she does!

All in all, I loved this book. We get more background on the boys, along with Talia and her family. There is drama of course, steamy scenes, angst, etc! All of the characters grow as people, even if it’s just a little, and I can’t wait to see what’s next for everyone, especially after that cliffhanger!

07/26/19 - I am glad that certain parts did not drag. I enjoyed it.

06/18/19 - It states release date is July 22, 2019. I hope there are no delays. Why do I start books without checking whether the series is complete!

Don't @ me, still don't know why I enjoy these books so much, but I'm glad I decided to re-read them. I haven't had a book keep my attention like this for so long. I've been reading without breaks like I used to years ago and it feels good 😌 who knew all I needed was a bully RH highschool book to get me back into that mode haha.

Defiant Princess is the second book in the Boys of Oak Park Prep series.

After reading the first book, I had no idea what I was exactly expecting - but it definitely was not this.

I loved the amount of drama in this book, and it kept me on edge the entire time.

After the fiasco that takes place at the end of the previous school year, Talia gets kicked out of her grandparents home in California. She enters the foster care system, where she adjusts back to her old life in Idaho.

One day, Talia gets a call from a lawyer who says that she can get access to her trust fund early and file for emancipation. Apparently there is somebody who has paid for this lawyer and is trying to help Talia out - but who would do such a thing?

There must be a catch though, right? Of course. If Talia wants access to her trust fund in advance, she must go back to California and complete her final year at Oak Park Prep.

Initially, Talia is reluctant to follow through with this idea. However, the more she thinks about it, the more she realizes that this is exactly what she needs. If Talia wants to get revenge against the Princes, what better to be right there in person to do it?

As the year progresses, Talia is determined to get evidence against the Princes and destroy them, just as much - if not more - as they destroyed her.

The ending of this book left off with such a cliffhanger and I am so eager to read the final book in the series! If you enjoy high school bully books, I highly recommend reading this series or just any book by Callie Rose, really! x

Talia annoys me because after finally getting things somewhat settled she starts doing shit to upheave it all for the sake of revenge. If she would just chill the fuck out and if the school actually did their God damn job shit wouldn't hit the fan all the time. The way she described the dancing also bugged the shit out of me, I took ballet growing up and it isn't something you just start doing with great talent especially not with previous injured legs. She also flys through classes no problem when let's be real when you grow up on poverty it would be hard as fuck to catch up at a private school like this. The over dramatic, unrealistic shit really irritated me in this follow up. Her little friend Leah was also wrong for their falling out. Talia gets blamed for Leah deciding they couldn't be friends? Wtf. That makes no sense. Leah blew her off and ignored her but somehow Talia bailed on her? No. This Adena bitch has no real claim for her feud either. She just hates Talia to hate her period. I wish the boys were more clear about their feelings as well. At this point they just come off conflicted, shit or get off the pot kids. Elijah and Finn are the only two that make it 100% clear their into the situation. That ending was ridiculous. It implies that the princes are responsible. So tired of the back and forth. Are they cool or nah. Pick a team and stick to it. I'll really only continue reading because I wanna know who hired the lawyer to help her and I want a God damn happy ending.

Man, Callie has done a great job of pulling the reader into this series.

I like how all the players in this series are written. Good or bad, they all shape the story into something you find hard to look away from.

Bullying is horrible and cruel and twisted!

It's also a train about to get wrecked.

P.S. I don't condone bullying, but this is fiction.

MINOR SPOILERS THROUGHOUT:
I love this book. It was everything I wanted it to be and more. Everything that was missing from the last book was improved upon in this one and I just got so much more than I thought I would. I was hooked from the very first chapter and I could not put this book down for the life of me. The story, the characters, and their tumultuous lives has just ensnared me and I did not want this book to end! After the ending, I am DYING to get my hands on the next book! Bring on the drama and the romance!

Talia- Talia is honestly my favorite part of the trilogy. She is just so relatable and I love her character! Her actions are always easy to understand and her thought process is matches mine in almost every situation.

The Guys- I really like the guys. Each of them is different and lovable in their own ways. I loved how much they’ve changed and grown in this installment and their obvious love for Talia has my whole heart. I’m ready for their relationship with her to progress and get it’s happy ending in the next book.

Ughhhh, another cliffhanger! Although I’m not a patient person and usually lose interest after the 2nd book in a series I’m highly anticipating Broken Empire. Defiant Princess starts off with Talia plotting her revenge on the Princes. With many twist and turns this installment of the Boys of Oak Park series was just as captivating as the first. I loved seeing Talia evolve from a trusting, vulnerable girl in Savage Royals to a cunning bad ass woman in Defiant Princess. It had made me wonder how she was so naive in the first book giving her upbringing, then I realized she wasn’t really naive she just truly believed the good in everyone and wanted so much to be loved and wanted it overshadowed good judgment at times. This story, she’s not that girl. She’s still trying to find the good in people and find peace in harmony but now realizes there’s just as much ugly out there in the world and when it infiltrates her life she will be prepared to deal with it. I don’t want to reveal too much, so I’m not going to go into what the Princes are up to in this story, you will have to read for yourself to find out. 👑❤️

Worth it!

The first book of this series and this one have me absolutely captivated. Yes as everyone has said there's similarities to another series but the execution is, in my opinion ten times better. This story is polished and the characters are solid! It deals with so many different issues in this series that it stands completely on its own and should be given so much praise instead of being compared.

This series is going to kill me with these cliffhangers I swear. I am trying not to cry at work (mainly from frustration, because cliffhangers are my nemesis) but I can't be greeting people with tears running down my face for no reason...well there is a reason, but I don't need to show people at work that fictional characters are pulling at my emotions.

This book man, it was a ride, just like the last one, even with how the other book ended I still loved the relationship with the Princes and Talia.

The conflict of this book was dealt with so well I was screaming with joy (on the inside of course, because you know I'm at work).

The main thing this book is missing is multiple POV's other than that this book is gold!

I am so distracted by the end of this book that I don't want to take the time to write a good review. Just know if you pick up this series you won't be disappointed. There is so much action and drama in every chapter that these books are unputdownable (yes I made up that word because its accurate).

Main takeaway from this review if anything is (in my best Shia Labeouf Voice) JUST READ IT!

AH! Callie Rose knows how to write a bully romance! I loved this book. Talia got tough in this book. She was set on revenge. She wanted to get back at the Princes for what they did to ruin her life. The last book was all about the boys bullying Talia and she took most of it.. but this book is Talia fighting back. It's brilliant. Everything that happens to her, happens to them. It was awesome. I loved it. We also learned alot about the boys.

The ending of this book was crazy. I won't say what happens but I am so excited for the next book. I Cant wait to see how Talia and her men take down the witch.

I read these books so fast I didn't even change out what I was reading on goodreads. This is the quickest I have devoured books since the boys of burberry prep. One thing I can say is the dark bully romances are my jam, and this author is my flavor. I am loving how Talia comes back. She grows some thick skin, and does what she needs to do to survive. This is of course a continuation of the first book, but now there is more at stake, not just for Talia, but for her bullies, and a new enemy, cause you know...you can never have too many people hate your ass. I like that there is a mystery wrapped in this bully romance as well. I am not telling what it is, but, it's good.

They thought they broke her. They called her names, treated her like she was nothing more than the trash that goes out to the curb. Talia was a Hildebrand, she deserved to be at Oak Park Prep. But the Princes thought that they beat her. Thought that they destroyed her. What they did was instill in her the need for vengeance. And they taught her themselves the method to bring them down. Watch out boys, Talia is back. Now its time to pay.

Okay I absolutely fell for Savage Royals. We get introduced to Talia, and how she comes to Oak Park. She gets introduced to the Princes and falls in hate/love with them. And in the end, we got to see what the boys plan was all along. But with Savage Princess, its game on!!

They succeeded. She went back to her old life. Trying to move on. But vengeance took up in her, the need to beat the boys at their own game. How dare they make her fall for them and then do that to her. And I have to say I was right there with her. My need for the boys to pay is just as much as hers is. When she is mysteriously helped, this opened up a need to know who is helping her. When she returns, she does not give an inch. The boys messed up, and they have to deal with what they created. What they created was an even stronger woman who has a need to take back what they took from her. Mason, Finn, Elijah and Cole, don't know what to think. We start to see a different side to them. But is it a trick? How can she really trust anything that they say anymore.

Guys, honestly this series is just exactly what I have been looking for in a good bully romance. My need for this series is scary. There is a big cliffy that will have you throwing your kindle going nooooo!! But honestly its a good cliffhanger, because it will have you obsessed, just like me, for the next book.

After reading the first book I was disappointed when I found plagiarism, I just can’t understand why an “author” would need to steal someone else’s work. Just to clarify, plagiarism doesn’t need to be present the entire book; to be counted as plagiarism only 15 percent or higher needs to be someone else’s idea: plagiarism it not about the differences only the similarities! I’m not talking about the idea of a bully romance but actual sentences and situations within the book, however, summarized content is still plagiarism! Anyway the author made a announcement claiming she was unaware of the numerous identicalities and the first two books were to be pulled from Amazon. However she put them back up even after knowing what she did. After reading this I decided to give the author one last chance to see if she could come back from her mistakes and write the a book without copying. I truly desired to see this as I don’t enjoy making such strong accusations unless absolutely necessary, and I certainly don’t like leaving a reviews such as this. However I was meet with strong disappointment again. All though I shouldn’t be surprised that the “author” cheated again; using someone’s else’s book to make money. Some examples of this are
1. They try to cut her hair off
2. They bully's get their hair cut off
3. She damaged the princes cars
4. She writes her revenge in a notebook, has it get stolen, and everyone hears what was written
5. All the princes have abusive father's
6. Two virgins having sex together for the first time
And so much more!
The author clams to have no knowledge of the scenarios that are identical, so I ask this, how can you make such a clam when you have read all the books in the original series and only after doing so, did you come up with the idea for this book.

It’s took me a few days to try to write this review ...

I seriously can not wait for book three now..
Defiant princess is raw gritty and dark... legs wanted her revenge after what
Elijah

Mason and Finn did to her in savage royals

A great continuing book. It’s been unusual for me to read a series and find each book just as good. Usually there’s something lacking as they go on but this is brilliant. Absolutely fantastic. Loved every moment and nothing dulled.
I just hope the third won’t disappoint. Especially since I hope she ends up with Mason who’s my fav of the boys and not Finn. Finn I am finding rather bland and stupid of the four boys. My list would be Mason at the top then Cole, then Elijah and bottom Finn.

I think my review for Savage Royals sums this up pretty well, too, but I'll elaborate for the sake of wasting more time than necessary :)
So, besides the bad stuff in the first book, we also got more rubbish, which wasn't as enjoyable any more. There was no real plot besides the heroine (whose name I literally do not remember two days after reading the books) being all stupid and revengeful and supposedly strong, from which only stupid proved to be true. Sure, the author tried to include some character development, but the attempt wasn't successful.
The big question for me right now is - will I read the final book? Who the heck knows. Certainly not me.

Holy crap!!!! So, when is book 3 out?? Soon I hope. This was full on. While book 1 was a bit same same with other books of the same genre, this one just blows it all out of the water. Still had that pay back element but there were twists and turns and one massive cliffhanger. Bring on book 3!

Awesome read!!!

https://ladiikeiii.wordpress.com/2019...

****I dumped a lot of spoilers into this review***

We all trying to figure out who this Adam Price guy is when it comes to the five princes parents and Talia (mom) they all were in the photograph with Adam Price; it got me thinking maybe it Adena dad who knows until I read book 3.... to find out all the secrets. Because for one, Talia ended up in the same position as her mom “a car accident”.... but did her mom truly died. We don’t know because for one, Talia breaks were cut and no telling what she hit on her way to Finn house...

I am still stuck on why do Adena hate her so much it doesn’t have anything to do with Mason at all because clearly when Mason was mean to her Adena was still coming for her... it has to be a reason; it’s either has something to do with this Adam Price guy or clearly Adena mom maybe...

But I did figure that Elijah and Finn didn’t hate Talia as much as Mason and Cole did. Because I got that vibe before everything went to crap.... they always liked her; because I felt that they went along with everything Mason wanted until Elijah finally snapped when Talia came back... & him and Mason got to fighting which I liked because at least they finally stood for what they believe in no matter what Mason said.... plus all four are working on getting into good graces with Talia again. Not only that, I’m glad Talia and Leah finally started talking again and she’s (Leah) not bitter and mad at Talia for believing in whatever crap the princes had going on for her to stop hanging with Leah...

With that being said, I cannot wait until they seek revenge on Adena and her crew because that girl was more horrible than the princes, though when I think about it, they are horrible too for what they did. But at least they stop. But for Adena to steal that notebook and drive from Talia book bag was messed up though I was waiting on Talia to drop the bomb on them for what they did so Adena thought it was okay to do it; thinking that the princes were going to stop talking to Talia but the joke is on her..... I’m just waiting for the revenge to bring Adena to her knees in the final book. Can’t wait to read it too...

"You fuck with me, I fuck with you.

Guilt is a powerful weapon for both revenge and self-destruction. This book was basically based upon Guilt. So I loved it. The slow burn was more annoying in this book than the previous one though. There was no action till 80%.

"Just because you can’t point to a bruise doesn’t mean he didn’t hurt you.”
It was nice to see that Talia held onto her anger and revenge plan for a long period of time. That's usually where other bully romances screw up and the FMC falls in love with the MC(s) again when he utters "sorry".
Also, Elijah got pushed back in favour of other characters so he wasn't able to impact the readers much. (Trying to say that he became an unnecessary character)
All in all, it was okayish.
