Short but super sweet follow up novella to The Contingency Plan which takes place in a mythical fantasy kingdom.

Marcelo finds he has more inner strength and self-determination than he ever though when things go wrong on the way to his husband's new kingdom.

I hope we get more in this little series of novellas because I really like Efren and Marcelo.

#ARC kindly received from the author in return for an honest and unbiased review.

~~I received a free copy of this book to read and review for Wicked Reads ~~

This follows on directly from The Contingency Plan, and you really do need to read it to understand the dynamics and the reasoning behind much of what happens in this installment.

Efren is very excited to be taking his new spouse back to his kingdom. Even though Prince Marcelo has obviously not been educated, he is clearly smart, and would seem to be as interested in Efren as he is in him. Life is looking good, but as a

“Best Laid Plans” by Addison Albright is a gay fantasy romance story that picks up immediately after “The Contingency Plan” ends. The newlywed princes are traveling back to Zioneven, continuing to learn more about each other and thankful that such a desirable solution to the treaty arrangements is mutually acceptable. Prince Marcelo has to learn to cope with the myriad of details he has never been required to handle in his protected life, but he wants to impress his new husband. Of course

Note: This is the second part of a series which should be read in order as this book and review contain spoilers for the events of the first book.

This lovely sequel picks back up directly after the events of The Contingency Plan. Princes Efren and Marcelo have started to build trust and enjoyed their wedding night. But as they prepare to leave Marcelo’s family and head back to Efren’s kingdom of Zioneve

A great sequel!

I really enjoyed the first book in this series and at the time I didn't know it would be a series. The last sentence of my review for the first book, The Contingency Plan, said "I’d like to read a follow up story to see how these two guys are doing." Thank you Addison Albright for giving me more! 😊

I think it's possible for you to read The Best-Laid Plans without reading The Contingency Plan first but you will definitely enjoy it more if you have the full background from the first

When I read the book that came before this, The Contingency Plan, I loved it and lamented the fact it was so short because I wanted a whole lot more of Marcelo and Efren. When I heard about The Best-Laid Plans, you know I was chomping at the bit to get my hands on it so I could satisfy my Marcelo and Efren craving.

While not anywhere near as short as the first book, this one is still a relatively quick read. Not everyone is happy about these two getting married and forming an alliance between th

The Best-Laid Plans is book 2 in the Plans series by Addison Albright and it needs to be read in order.

One of the gripes I had with The Contingency Plan was that we hadn't gotten Prince Efren's POV and another thing was the length of the story. Thankfully, we got both Efren's perspective and more pages to enjoy seeing Efren and Marcelo's adventures as they travel to Efren's kingdom.

Frankly, I was pleasantly surprised at how resourceful and clever Marcelo was in this particular story,

I read this book in one sitting and did not find one point where I was bored or wanted to skip pages. There was intrigue and mystery surrounding the two princes as they make their way back to Efren's kingdom of Zioneven. Seeing Marcelo slowly beginning to spread his wings in this book was great, as was Efren's supporting him. I do hope that the author continues to write about Marcelo and Efren, as there is still much to be covered in the lives of these two and retribution to come to those who we ...more

Heart-warming and suspenseful! I thoroughly enjoyed this sequel. We not only get to learn more about the characters but we get to see their relationship and love for one another grow. I loved seeing Marcelo grow in his strength and discover more confidence in himself.

Another part of Marcelo’s and Efren’s adventures after an unexpected wedding.
I loved this new part and I still love the amazing narration and language, so consistent with the story!

This story picks up where Contingency Plan left off and sweeps you to its faraway kingdom with the warmth of a familiar friend. Addison Albright has a true gift for storytelling. No matter whether we are castaway on a desert island or whisked to a world realms away from this, it is a place with characters who feel as real as their stories are resonant. The Best-Laid plans is an enthralling adventure that seems far more realistic than many a more mundane tale. Characters who are relatable despite ...more

I wished for more of story between Marcelo and Efren when I read The Contingency Plan and it was delivered with this book. They are currently on their way back to Efren’s home but get quite the detour.

I am still so glad the Marcelo is getting the opportunity to actually live his life with Efren and gets the chance to look towards his future and what he wants to accomplish. Efren really is sweet with Marcelo and n

This is the sequel to The Contingency Plan. The writing was better in this book but still could use more in world and character building. I did like the switch in having the matriarchal society versus the usual male and how similar they were made to be. I also liked how Marcelo decided to accept his new life and make it a better one (and avoid assassins). Getting both MC’s viewpoints in this book was also a good point for me. The plot was entertaining and it was steady throughout the book. Efren ...more
