Biblical principles and down-to-earth advice on marriage, home, and children. The writing style I like about older books: short and snappy (:

A short little book, decidedly dated in a few places but overall a calm, sensitive and reasonable book. Hendricks makes some very good points but I think my favorite was about teenagers veering from parents’ convictions and then coming back to them. There was a great diagram about that. I also really liked the analogies used throughout the book. For example, “Sweep out old grudges like worthless debris” (141). Highly recommend.

I always appreciate Dr. Hendricks' down-to-earth writing. His insights are both thought-provoking and challenging, causing me to contemplate our current family life and improvements we can make. He presents important biblical principles along with practical ideas for those looking for ways to make their home Christ-centered. Several worksheets at the end are a great reflection and planning tool for considering and making changes. It's easy to get stuck in a rut of doing things the same way, so I'm grateful for the opportunity to evaluate our family, especially as a parent, to see what I can do to make our home more of a place of joy and love.
