Guilty Pleasures Book Reviews
What a wonderfully written, exciting story When a Lady Kisses a Scot was. Filled with intrigue and love, I seriously could not stop reading this story.

Rose was a strong, independent woman determined to get to the bottom of her parents death and the death of her Aunt. She would never have returned to London if it wasn’t for her Aunt’s pleas for help. She knew it could be a trap but had to take the chance. She never thought that it would be MacAllister that would be the one to help her. She’s liv

Unexpected meetings, unexpected consequences!

When Rose Fleming slips back into England having fled for her life to New York ten years ago she little suspected she'd run smack dab into the love of her life, MacAllister Campbell. Rose was being pursued by an arcane arts practicioner and his thugs, having been brought into their circle and mysteriously tattooed as a child with a falcon.
To say MacAllister was rendered speechless by this happenstance is no rash assumption, particularly as he believed

This was certainly an action packed story right from the start. Rose Fleming was an independent woman, as she has had to have been due to unfortunate circumstances. MacAliister Campbell, was brave and fearless and still loved Rose, as he had when he had last seen her ten year’s ago. Rose still loves MacAllister but there are people who wish to see Rose dead. There follows quite a mystery as to who wants Rose killed and why. A number of clues are left and some interesting secondary characters hel ...more

I received an advance reader’s copy of this book.

This is a well-written book. Action-filled from the first page, the reader is pulled into the story. Rose has returned to England after faking her death years ago. She quickly learns that despite the passage of time she is not safe. A chance encounter with MacAllister reawakens passions and opens her heart, which she believed she’d protected. MacAllister, though angry that he’d been allowed to believe Rose dead all this time, vows to protect her

When she fled Scotland for America a decade ago, Rose gave up any hope of seeing MacAllister Campbell, the man she’d loved, in favor of survival. Her life depended on the man hunting for her believing her dead.

Now, she’s back in London, determined to find justice for her aunt, but she’s starting to suspect she’s been lured into a trap. When she runs into MacAllister by chance, she knows he might be the only man in England she can trust - if he’ll forgive her for letting him believe she was dead.

Rose Fleming has been presumed dead for the last decade. It required leaving everything—and everyone—she loved behind, including MacAllister Campbell.

Reviewed on my blog, Becky on Books, on 8/1/19.

There is so much going on in When a Lady Kisses a Scot--a heroine in hiding, presumed dead; a hero and associates who are part of "Her Majesty's Most Secret Service;" a secret society with evil intentions; hidden tattoos; mysterious pictures and jewelry; so many characters with probably nefarious intentions--at times it was all a bit much to keep track of, and not having read earlier books in the series, I wasn't familiar with those characters eithe

Starting a series from anywhere but the beginning is a big mistake in some cases and in others is not. The book is stand-alone and there was no problem getting into the story, but I wouldn't have touched the book if I knew that the story takes place in the late 1800's. That is not the kind of HR I like to read. Our heroine was presumed dead for a decade, but she was living in America the whole time, building a life for herself after she ran away from the wem who wanted to see her harmed. In her ...more

I was granted the privilege to read an ARC of this book not knowing it was number 4 in the series. I was worried when I noticed but this can be read as a stand-alone. You get to meet the other characters from past books as you find out they are together but honestly if you are a romance lover like me, we all know the hero and heroine will get together in the end 😉. I also had no clue how much adventure and suspense I would find with in the pages of this amazing book! Tara Kingston is a new to m ...more

Life has been a roller coaster for Rose Fleming. A woman who had to start her life over again, became successful. However, the past always has a way of catching up. Escaping from those who tried to take years ago by faking her death, she returns to save those she loves. She never expected to run into the only man she has ever loved, MacAllister Campbell. MacAllister biggest regret is not being there to save Rose. She haunts his thoughts constantly and when he runs into her again, he has no plans ...more

This was my first read by Tara. The prologue had sucked me in, although with chapter 1 happening ten years later I kind of was hoping the main couple Mac and Rose weren't going to meet again so quickly due to the circumstances. I kind of wanted more of an anticipation as a reader. I'm also unsure if these characters appear in the other books in this series, but they are all standalones. I was surprised by the mystery and action that happened and 10% left in the book was glad for a change of a lo ...more

When a Lady Kisses a Scot by Tara Kingston is book 4 in the Her Majesty's Most Secret Service. This is the story of Rose Fleming and MacAllister Campbell. I have read the previous books but feel you can make this a standalone book if you wish to do so.

This was a wonderful second chance at love story. It was a treat to indulge oneself in. Rose Fleming had to flee her home ten years ago and leave her old life and love behind. MacAlister Campbell was shocked to be looking into the eyes of a woman he loved and thought dead. This story is full of suspense, emotional distress, an unknown murderer, a relentless stalker and secon chance at love. I enjoyed reading this. It kept my interest throughout the book. I heartily recommend it and give it five ...more

After fleeing for her life ten years before, Rose Fleming has returned to England to late to save her aunt. Although she is scared, this time she will see justice done. She did not expect to run into an old friend.
MacAllister Campbell is a journalist and an agent for the Crown. When a woman who he believed dead suddenly appears, his whole world is turned upside down.
The bodies soon start to pile up around our heroine. It's time to take the help of people who know how to help. Our hero will do

As this is my introduction read to Mrs Tara Kingston’s work, and the forth in a series, I do wondered if I would not be a bit lost as some of the previous books protagonists took part in this one’s action. But the author did a great job, the side characters were perfectly integrated with reasonably details to not derail the storytelling and not enough to need me to read their stories.
It was a very different read from the Historical romance I do read.
I did not questioned the romance part as desp

For me, the title When a Lady Kisses a Scot was misleading. It implies the book will be inundated with Scottish culture: language, cities, foods, dress, etc. There's nothing like a brawny hero with a thick brogue. So I was disappointed in the lack of Scotland in this story. Sure, the MCs were born in Scotland, but they spent basically the whole story in London and there was a chapter in New York. Like I said, disappointing.

The book was quite confusing at times. Some of the transitions between ch

Tara Kingston spices a pot rich in intrigue, danger, passion and desire in her latest historical romance, When a Lady Kisses a Scot.

With a dangerous enemy intent on destroying everything she held dear to her heart, a frightened Rose Fleming had had no other choice but to flee the only home she has ever known and let everybody think that she had died in a tragic carriage accident. Rose had hoped that by feigning her death she would be unshackled from the constant fear that had claimed and destroy

the fourth book in her majesty's most secret service series is essentially a second-chance romance wrapped into historical romantic suspense, so when a lady kisses a scot runs into one of my least favorite tropes. but in this case, our lady heroine, rose fleming, had to go into hiding after her father was murdered and her family targeted.

she escapes to america and for ten long years doesn't set foot on british soil. and never explains to the man she loved that she survived the terrible carriage

What an engaging tale
Our tale begins with our heroine Rose fleeing a villain who we do not know a whole lot about.
Her family is lost to her, she is alone, unable to seek help from the one man she wants because she fears to endanger him.
After close to a decade of being invisible she resurfaces in London to seek out some answers.
Not such a smart move. It seems she has been found and not just by the enemy.
Mac has always felt the loss of his Rose deeply. He has questioned if he made the right deci

*I received an ARC from the publisher through NetGalley in exchange for my honest review*

As a whole, this is an entertaining and fun read. My favorite aspect was the mystery behind the attempts on Rose's life and the murders of those close to her. Watching the investigation unfold and bringing in the additional agents from the investigation agency kept the action moving along at a good pace.
