I've read several of this author's inspiring books. This is yet another great addition to your library: turn to it when you've had a rough day. Don't let everyday failures or even major failures keep you down forever is the take away from this one. Highly recommended and a quick read.

Learn How to Navigate Change, Wrestle With Failure and Live An Intentional Life; Neil Pasricha’s You Are Awesome Provides Solid Advice and Inspiration

Bestselling author, podcast host and TED speaker, Neil Pasricha, has charisma and positivity that emanates from the pages of his new book, You Are Awesome.

I was immediately drawn into You Are Awesome because of how relatable the writing is. Neil Pasricha is charismatic and resilient and the writing is conversational like you are talking with a good friend.

Everyone can relate to failure but how we react to it can change our paths entirely and keep us moving forward. Every” misstep” is a chance to assess, learn and then move up and onward. I love the balance of personal stories, accessible writing, and strategies that are approachable for everyone.

I received a digital copy of this book from NetGalley in exchange for an honest review.

This was the most loving and surprisingly empowering self-help book I’ve ever picked up. For some reason, self-help books have rarely hit home for me. I find they usually go in one of two ways: either they tend to be hyper-idealistic while conveniently ignoring the innumerable factors that could prevent one from dropping everything and “following your dreams!”…. or they’re on the other side of the spectrum

You Are Awesome delivers 9 Secrets To Getting Stronger And Living An Intentional Life. So much of this book spoke directly to me. A bit of a wake up call in several areas of my life. The line that really resonated with me was "we have to stick the twig in our own spokes" ... WOW! Yes! We do! There are times where life just gets away from us, becomes chaotic, overwhelming ...

** I received a free ARC from Netgalley in exchange for an honest review. **

This book was really more like 3.5 stars that I rounded up to 4. I'm sure it will be super helpful to some people, but only bits and pieces of this book seemed to apply to me. I was better than "just okay," but I wouldn't necessarily say it was "really good." There's some good tidbits throughout this book, but it seems more geared towards people wanting to start a business/website/professional goal/etc.

If you need help improving your resilience, then be sure to a copy of You Are Awesome by Neil Pasricha.

Let’s face it – resilience is a skill. If you can bounce back better and faster, you will be happier and accomplish more (this is especially important for entrepreneurs).

In You Are Awesome, Pasricha outlines nine secrets to being more resilient. I’ll list them below, but I encourage you to get the book to learn more about each secret:

1. Add a dot-dot-dot…
2. Shift the spotlight
3. See it as a

Neil Pasricha followed a unique path to fame and fortune. He tells plenty of his own story in his latest book, which focuses on resilience. You Are Awesome: How to Navigate Change, Wrestle with Failure, and Live an Intentional Life was a mixed bag for me. Ultimately Pasricha grew on me, and I think his stories, advice, and tone work for a lot of 20-to-30 year olds.

Resilience is a life skill that’s hard to teach. It’s a learn as you go skill, because there’s often no way to prepare yourself for

Why this Book: The publisher asked me whether, if they sent me an advance copy of this book, I would read it and review it. I said yes. They sent it. I read it. I liked it, and this is the review.

Summary in 3 sentences: The author advises the reader at the beginning of the book that this book is about resilience – and indeed the first of the book is about dealing with disappointment, failure, mistakes, and bouncing back. The practical advice is based on the author’s own experience as well as

I’m glad I broke my book ban for You Are Awesome by Neil Pasricha. I even stalled and the team emailed twice asking if I wanted it. It hit at the perfect time when I knew my time buckets were uneven and by trying to do

I have never read a self-help book before but I decided to read Neil Pasricha's You Are Awesone not knowing what to expect. I would have to say I read through it fairly quickly because of his writing style and especially because of his personal stories to get his points across.

I found the way he spoke of his personal successes and especially failures relatable, because everyone will fail, at some point, whether they would like to admit it or not admit it. Few of us get the opportunity to attend

Would you fail your way to success? or remain a failure? There are so many people who fail at reaching success and that’s fine, but what’s not fine is if you don’t get up and keep moving forward. You Are Awesome by Neil Pasricha is filled with life-related stories, tips when hardship approaches, and secrets that Neil learned throughout his life.

Everyone hits rock bottom at some point in our lives, but what happens if we get stuck? Neil explains that nothing is over until you give up on it.

The author uses examples from his personal life along with references to illustrate his points on the need for readers to develop resilience using his nine step program. Pasricha got his start as an expert in all things awesome with his “1000 Awesome Things” blog, which led him to become a motivational speaker. His other books focus on topics such as gratitude and happiness.

In each section, he introduces one of his nine concepts, then provides his evidence with personal examples, which he

Neil Pasricha is back with his latest book, this time with "9 Secrets to Getting Stronger and Living an Intentional Life". This book is basically about changing the way we see failure and building resilience, so that we can be our awesome selves!

It is divided into 9 parts, one for each 'secret' and this was one of my favourite parts of the book. It makes it easy to keep track of the different tips he is providing, and therefore go back and re-read the sections which speak to you specifically. I

Neil Pasricha, originator of the very successful 1000 Awesome Things blog, author, podcaster, and speaker, has a new book out this month called, You Are Awesome: 9 Secrets to Getting Stronger and Living an Intentional Life. In his mixed-genre, market-savvy and abundantly creative style, Pasricha's You Are Awesome reads like a memoir but at first glance looks somewhat like a graphic novel with its bright, high contrast, glossy cover, some illustrations that appear to be hand drawn and starburst ...more

I love to start a new book! But I have to admit, I have a harder time finishing. Not so with Neil Pasricha's new book "You Are Awesome." I received an advance reader's edition (book to be released on November 5) and once I started reading, I wanted to keep going until the end. Neil has brought together ideas gleaned from current research, other writers, and his own experience to lay out nine ideas to become stronger and keep moving forward in the face of life's inevitable failures. Thank you Simon and Schuster Canada for sending me a copy of You Are Awesome by Neil Pasricha for an honest review.

I do not normally read and love self help books. Living with chronic illness means that I am constantly being told how to change so I can be “better”. I wouldn’t have nausea if I stopped eating gluten, my headaches will disappear if I practice yoga more, etc. This has given me a healthy dislike of self help books that prescribe life changes like they will fix things.
That being said,

Incredible book by the always down to earth, very funny and quite tactical author Neil. I really enjoyed this honest, yet uplifting, self-help book. Often books like this can be either too upbeat or too "get over it already", but Pasricha hits a good middle note and seems to tell it like it is. He is supportive but not to the point of coddling, and honest but not harsh. Sometimes life is great, and sometimes it isn't, but the important thing is to learn what you can and keep going. I appreciate that he illustrates his points with lots of examples taken from his life, and the short ...more

I have been a fan of @neilpasricha since I read his very first book, The Book of Awesome. What started as a blog, turned into a series of awesome-ness and I am here for it! In this one, he shared with his readers nine secrets to living a life of intention and becoming a stronger person. Neil is no stranger to failure, but I love how he changed his way of thinking. Some of the questions asked in this book are why is life continually getting harder? How do I get back up after being knocked down? ...more

I had dinner with a dear friend and fellow mom a few weeks back. We were discussing our young adult children. She said they have a hard time "resetting" when they have failure. Her words hit home and I saw that in my own children.

Then I read Neil's book...YES! Resilience is the ability to reset! Neil hits the nail on the head and provides actionable and accessible take-aways that you can use today to learn how to be more resilient.

I think EVERYONE should read this book. I believe learning how to

Was given this book to read and review prior to publication. Great opportunity I am thankful for as it is a simple, accessible, 9 point plan to a better life. I particularly liked the first concept of adding a dot-dot-dot to self doubt and open it up to be unfinished and to be completed positively. This works with our business brand, so i can see plenty of ways this can help our clients. All the other 8 concepts are easy to understand, Neil adds some very personal anecdotes to frame them and ...more

Wow. I got an ARC of this book on a whim, from a suggestion from my friend to always try to read three styles of book - a fiction, a non fiction and something that would help me grow, and boy did it ever.

Just... I have a history of general anxiety disorder and the topics are just nailed right on the head, and the solutions are so simple and direct but impossible to see without someone helping and this book is most certainly a help. I feel emotionally relaxed after reading this. I feel like I am

I don’t read many books on this subject as I find they go on and on. However, I very much enjoyed reading this one. I think it was because the author added his personal stories and feeling/reactions to each section. It was like having a conversation about life with him while enjoying a good cup of coffee. It made the book relatable to things that have happened to me. His suggestions on how to ‘tweak’ ones outlook and deal with situations that arise were not these long drawn out explanations. ...more

There is SO MUCH GOOD in this book. I listened to the audible audiobook and I really like the author's voice, as well; it felt like a personal conversation. I can't wait to find his other books and grab them as well.

Two things that I will mention, that I really want to remember - Add a ... to the end of things when you hit one of those speedbumps or big changes in life. It's not the end, it's just a pause that's waiting for the rest of the sentence. And then the story of the wise farmer who said

I've been really into these kind of non fiction, self help books lately, and I'm glad I gave this one a chance. Inside, are steps to not only make yourself feel better about your situation, whatever that may be, but also ways to combat the feelings you feel and turn them into something productive.

This is a short and sweet book that is packed full with lots of tips and tricks for changing your life around with lots of humorous and serious stories from Neil's own life. I have read Neil's previous books and I liked how this ties into those, but also strikes out on its own.

I like Neil and I like his message of positivity and his online articles and his 1000 Awesome Things blog but I feel like I've already read most of this book in excerpts online. I have a pretty big stack of books to get through so I don't think I need to finish this one after skimming it and seeing a lot of familiar content. His writing is very playful and poetic, sort of reminds me a bit of Dr Seuss without the made up words.

As I read the book, all I could think is how relevant this book is to me - mid career, but would also be to new university grads. Resiliency is a lagging skill for many of us.
