Venus in Retrograde: Poems
''Susan Lilley's clear speaking voice combines with her knack for striking images and metaphors to create a tone that is both intimate and inventive. It's hard to stop reading these open-hearted accounts that follow her life from girlhood to womanhood in charming poems, often erotic and always richly detailed.'' -- Billy Collins In a voice both lyrical and conversational, Orlando Poet Laureate Susan Lilley interprets various stages of womanhood while parsing the beauty and decay of her beloved home state of Florida.

I received a drc in exchange for an honest review.
I liked the journey because I was not some one witnessing it but I was a companion throughout this journey.
Some parts it was too wordy that it would lose its intensity.
Ps. I too cried first time reading Keats.

I sort of over relate to the poet. A Floridian, a woman, a parent, a divorcee, remarried, dealing with aging parents, pre-menopausal, a good friend. I enjoyed the poems but not certain everyone would.

A lovely journey through the author's life and growth as she traverses the condos and backroads and beaches of Florida.

Read in one sitting—can’t wait to start again. I love the Florida Susan Lilley remembers.
