Growing up next to the Keller boys was anything but easy for me. I didn’t shine like my sisters. No one ever really noticed me, except for Clay. He stole my heart when I was only eleven years old, and I never got it back. Now that he’s coming around again, I’m not sure how long I’ll be able to resist the temptation - especially when he’s tall, ripped, and looking sexy

I borrowed this from KU mainly because of the cover. I don’t really know what I was expecting when I picked this up. Maybe a cute YA romance? What I got were two immature characters and a crappy love interest.

Iris for the most part, was an okay character. She was sheltered and just an easy going girl. However when it came to Clay, she became immature and quite naive. She did stand up for herself a bit but always ended up letting Clay back in. Clay was not a good love interest. He played games a

When I read the blurb, I was very exited to read Take me away, Rachel Kierwin's debut novel, because friends-to-lovers is one of my favorites tropes.

Clay and Iris were childhood friends who, in recent years, grew apart. Iris has always been in love with Clay, but he gave her mixed signals since they were children.
The pair reconnects during the summer after Iris's high school graduation and they soon starts a relationship. They couldn't be more different from each other: Iris is a very simple a

This book captured me from the very beginning. It was very good and flowed well until I stumbled upon misuse of words, missing words, and grammar mistakes but there weren't that many. This probably won't bother other readers but it distracts me and I get stuck on it. I just feel it needed a better edit. It also ends on a cliffhanger and I'm really looking forward to the next book so I purchased it and its on my to be read books. Take Me Away is the debut novel from a promising new author, Rachel Kirwin. It focuses on Iris Everly and Clay Keller. Iris is wise beyond her years having lost her mother years back, and has had to take on a lot of responsibility for the household while her twin sisters are away at college, leaving just Iris and her dad at home. Clay has just come home from the summer from college, Clay and Iris used to be closer when they were young but as they got older unfortunately grew apart.

This is the story of Iris and Clay, childhood “friends” who begin a relationship the summer after Clay’s first year in college and Iris’s high school graduation. I put friends in quotations as the description seemed more like wishful thinking on Iris’s part than actuality.

I personally had a hard time liking Clay. He seemed overly concerned with what other people thought and didn’t treat Iris very well, both in childhood and into a

Young Love “The Forever Kind”

Lots of love and emotion packed into this book. I enjoyed the beginning of Iris’s story as she enters into the world and starts life’s journey. Childhood love is a blessing and when you find it fighting to keep it can be hard. Obstacles stand in your way and you either let love go or you fight to keep it alive. I just know Clay and Iris will make it and I cannot wait to read where Rachel takes their love.

This is an amazing read! It was refreshing to read a first person book, I love third person but once in awhile it's nice to change things up. I love Iris and Clay's story and I found it very relatable. I'm a young adult getting started in life and Iris's thoughts and worries about the future and life really resonated with me as I have the same thoughts at times. The writing was very real and passionate, and it just sucked you in (I started the book this morning and finished this afternoon). I go ...more

Clay and Iris are childhood friends, who have grown apart in recent years. Iris has always been in love with Clay, but until recently there was no hope for a future for them. Now that he is back from college for the summer, it seems like there may be hope for the two but there are still many hurdles they have to overcome until they can find their happily ever after.

I requested a copy of this book because I love the idea of friends

'Take Me Away' is Rachel Kirwin's debut romance novel and I can honestly say (and this is coming from someone who has dabbled in many romance/new adult fiction) that this was such a pleasant read! The writing was great in that careful attention to detail was taken and the overall pace of this story felt smooth and consistent; it also doesn't hurt that I found the story extremely addicting! The fact that I managed to finish this book in under 2 days with a teething 3-month-old at home should tell ...more

This was a great story about growing up and learning about yourself. Iris has always felt like she was on the outside. She had a crush on Clay, but in true life fashion he sometimes ignores her or plays pranks on her to blend in. They finally get together, but between his mixed signals and an interfering ex. They have a rough time of it. There is a lot if sadness, loneliness and heartbreak. I loved how Iris makes mostly good decisions, but even when she makes bad ones, she acknowledges it. Clay ...more

I finished this book and was eager to read book 2, only it’s not in the kindle store 😢

This book was absolutely wonderful. The characters were believable and their actions were age appropriate. A true story of young love 💕 I would recommend this book to anyone wanting a sweet and easy read.

What happens when your soul mate is the boy who used to live next door? What happens when your crush finally is yours?

This is a story of young love where shy bookworm Iris has always loved Clay. Iris continues to become more socially awkward and introverted, living a very sheltered life, as they hit teen years, whereas her crush Clay is popular and quarterback of the football team. Then after returning home for the holidays after his first year of college, Clay finally reconnects with Iris.

A Story that keeps you on your toes!

'Chasing You' by Rachel Leigh is the first book of a duet, it is about Iris and Clay. Ever since Iris was little, she had a crush on Clay, he was nice to her when they were alone. Although, when Clay's brothers were there, teasing Iris, he acted differently and didn't stop them. As they grew older, Iris became more conscious of this until one day she called him out on it. Clay is shocked by this and tries to improve his behaviour while doing so he ended up fa

Chasing You: Small Town Romance by Rachel Leigh. This is book one in Everly Place series and features the young love story of Iris and Clay. They were neighbors and his family moved away but now he’s back. Will they make the most of their second chance? Or will it always be the one that got away? I enjoyed the push and pull of these two, with their easy banter and connectivity. It made me want to reach out and pull them close and say “yes- this is right”. This was my first book from this author and I was really excited about reading this after seeing the blurb. I enjoyed the overall plot and thought it moved at a good pace. The characters were a little immature at times but they are also teenagers so that's expected to an extent. The character I connected most with was Iris, I can vivid remember that time in my life and her thoughts and worries seemed to mimic my own back then. While I didn't always like Clay and I did enjoy his character and I'm ...more

Iris and Clay have known each other forever; then he becomes her first everything. My heart broke for both of them at various times. They just can't seem to be on the same page at the same time, still learning how to navigate a grown-up relationship. During the course of the story, she does a lot of growing up, maturing into a confident young woman. He still has a long way to go. This small town-romance tugged at my heart the entire time I was reading. It's a wonderful story from a new-to-me aut ...more
I typically do not read YA, but I wanted to try and read out of my comfort zone. This story is ok, I was not thrilled with Clay & Luke's behavior, bullies are not ok in High School and should know better once in College. Throughout the book the boys are kind of childish. Iris is sheltered, the youngest, lost her mom young, and would rather have her nose in a book. I do like the relationships Iris has with her family and friends. She does grow over the time of the story.

This is Iris and Clay's story. They've known each other since they were kids. Iris is the quiet shy bookworm who gets teased and picked on while Clay is the popular jock. They are an unlikely match but Iris still falls hard for Clay. There is a lot of miscommunication and misunderstandings that happen as they try to navigate their relationship. This is a sweet story of young love that ends on a cliffhanger. Looking forward to book two to see if Iris and Clay can overcome the obstacles in front o ...more

Iris was quiet and reserved at school and always had a crush on Clay. Clay, his brother and the other kids loved to make fun of Iris. But when Clay was alone with Iris he let her see his true feelings, and he loved her. Not he was home from college and she was graduating and Clay and Iris experienced their interesting and exciting romance with emotional outbursts, alcohol, past loves, death and insecurities trying to keep them apart. Fun read

Clay and Iris are both young and very immature, leading to a lot of issues when they attempt a relationship. Much of it not talking when they needed to, especially Iris. He was a horse’s behind in other ways, mostly when it came to his family, friends, and ex. He was also a terrible friend to her when they were growing up. Cliffhanger ending. I look forward to the next book!

Reading about the intense feelings in this book. I welcomed the trials, the emotional drama and the unexpected passion. The chemistry between the H and h is undeniable and unexpected. Iris and Clay. They lived near each other when they were kids. Then Clay moved. Now she sees him again and the feelings are the same. But she feels like a nobody because she is different. Now he seems to notice her again.. But he is hot and cold which is very confusing. Does she take a chance or not? Is he worth the risk?
