So this is basically Tokyo Ghoul Vampire, though tamer and with more focus on the human girl instead of the half-ghoul vampire.

Small gripe that bothers me more than it probably would most people; the font choice is terrible and it looks worse than fan-made scanlations.

Compared to the Japanese version:

Also, why did we lose the color in the beginning? It's digital so it's not like it costs more to print.

The translated version just seems to be lower quality than the original Japanese volume and I find that kind of annoying.

So, as it turns out, when it comes to book boyfriends (gah I hate that term, but can’t think of a better one), I’ve got a type.

You know the lovable monsters? The sort of brooding and grumpy-but-secretly-a-marshmallow kind of dude? The ones who have some dark secret? The guy that you reeeeeeally shouldn’t fall for, because it would be such a TERRIBLE idea ?
YEP, that’s the one. That seems to be exactly my type.

And now feel free to throw tomatoes at this predictable bitch. *ducks*

So naturally, when I go to the manga shop “just for a browse” and I’ve been jonesing for something a bit dark, with maybe some slow burn and a tiny bit of tortured tension or “it’s so bad it’s good”, I am BOUND to come out with something.

THIS.

This is exactly the fix I needed. And now I want to go back and buy the rest of the series, but that would zero-out my budget and I’ve got a family that has this habit of actually needing food to eat, and a car that needs gas, sooooooo.... damn, I have to do the adult thing and wait.
Which is slightly torturous because this is the kind of thing that you can just binge read like no tomorrow. And I want MORE, dammit.

This is an urban fantasy in the vein of Tokyo Ghoul, but not nearly as horror-like. So if you like the idea of TG but can’t do all the crazy and gore, this might be more your speed. (No judging! We like what we like, peeps. That said, the cover art for Tokyo Ghoul is hard to beat.)

It’s got all the right tropes for my current mood: dark urban fantasy with innocent MC falling for dark brooding dude with threatening presence and even more threatening secret... and I can’t tell you more except that I’m giving this 4 STARS and I want more ASAP.

Twilight+Tokyo Ghoul+ Adult+ Gore= Este manga.

Joke's on you I'm into that shit!

Yo ahora mismo:

(WHY ARE YOU LIKE THIS?!).

This is it, guys. This is everything I was ever asking for in the many awful vampire comics I buddy read.

At first I thought there were some similarities between this and Tokyo Ghoul, but then I realised that they’re really nothing alike. Here the protagonist is human; the half-human, half vampire being is a main character and the narrative sometimes followed him, but the story was ultimately told from the perspective of the female protagonist. And this was a very interesting way of approaching the story because it really grounded the story in the one character who is normal, so the fantasy aspect was not overwhelming but still very much prevalent.

The genres of romance and fantasy were very well-balanced and the exploration of the fantasy elements and the worldbuilding were done in a very steady fashion. I honestly can’t find anything to fault here, and I would quite happily devour more of this manga in vol 2!

Can a devil and a human fall in love?
This series appears to have everything that I love in a manga/anime within it! Vampires! 😍 An emo, half-devil, assassin boyfriend that protects girls from getting assaulted 🥺 (I can feel a fave character attachment about to happen lol)! Gory action scenes and dark artwork… With the devil hunters/devil killers, you know what this reminds me of… Another favourite series of mine, Chainsaw Man!
Excited to see where this goes next and yay to the second volume also being on KU!

So far, a very interesting concept. It is giving major Tokyo Ghoul vibes but with vampires and I love that as Tokyo Ghoul is one of my faves.

I have a few minor issues so far, but nothing worth actually discussing at the moment as this is only the first volume. I will definitely be continuing this series and developing my thoughts more as it goes on.

I enjoyed this one! I rated it lower because it was a pretty standard (but well-done) YA/new adult-esque romance. The "devil lust" crap was stupid, but I think, again, pretty standard with a lot of manga. It definitely felt like it was only added as a subplot to excuse any hyper-sexualization of the female characters, but surprisingly, it didn't detract too much from the main bulk of the story because you don't see that happen very often, in my opinion (one little part at the end that involves a younger girl, but it doesn't go beyond the vampire commenting on her appearance in a creeper way... but this adds to the character's history with the vampires, if you want to look at it that way).

Although, the story was very reliant on Anzai and Tsukasa's relationship, and might be considered by some to be too insta-love, I think they work really well together as a couple. I personally just... liked their relationship? Might be a "it's only me" thing. (And side note: I'm starting to weigh that a little more with manga. I don't mind a little bit of insta-love because it is very common in a lot of shorter manga series, and based on the plot/titles of the manga, you sort of know what you're getting into anyway... so I forgive it more easily. But I do feel like it shouldn't overtake the story's main plot -- if you're forcing the two love interests to make out as much as possible over general plot development, that's obviously a problem.)

The vampire lore was kind of cool? But it will definitely need more development in future volumes. In fact, I think that's another reason I rated it lower. The dialogue/story jumps between chapters were a little confusing, and I can't tell if it was because of a bad translation, or the writing itself. But I think the characters definitely make up for it -- Anzai especially! (He just hit all the right notes for me -- I'm excited for more of his story!) And I got attached to Anzai and Tsukasa pretty easily. Even though Anzai was the "white knight" to Tsukasa's damsel-in-distress a few times, he wasn't patronizing about it, which was very refreshing. You can tell Anzai is aware of how hard a human/vampire relationship will be, but that he wants to be with Tsukasa if he can/she wants him to be. He cares for Tsukasa in a way that allows her the choice to either continue or stop the relationship. I just like that he basically starts hanging out with her because they both know they're lonely. It was sweet.

The setting was nice, too -- the story occurs mostly during winter/Christmas, additionally with very minute character interactions, so it's very soft and quiet. Mixed with the plot's slight darkness, it created a really great atmosphere that played on the loneliness of Anzai and Tsukasa, as well as their time together. (I feel like the Japanese just really understand this concept of "winter loneliness" so well! I notice a lot of mangaka use winter in their stories in this way, and it's one of my favorites styles.) The action sequences always seemed to come at the end of each chapter, so we were allowed some downtime in-between to appreciate the "stillness" of the world.

I also didn't dislike the artwork, at least as much as other people apparently. It was a little awkward in certain spots, but I liked the weirdness of it.

So basically, Anzai/Tsukasa and the general atmosphere/setting are where it's at for me, but stars knocked off for the confusing writing. Already picked up the rest of the volumes in this series, so I'm sure I will get to them soon!

K-Pop looking vampire? Super cute main Female lead? Titty shots? MURDER AND DEATH? Yeah. I'm okay with all this.

Devil's line starts off simple enough. A girl is almost attacked by a vampire and someone comes to her rescue. Soon after we find out this protector is also a vampire. Tsukasa (the main lead girl) begins to fall for Anzia (The K-Pop vampire) and they actually get into a cute relationship. Between the cuteness and funny moments we have some vicious murders, trying to understand vampire rights, and a revenge tale.

Maybe because I wasn't expecting much but this one kind of got me hooked right away. The romance actually WORKS. It's cute, it's funny, and it's kind of sexy. These two leads work well together. On top of that the idea of dealing with the vampire bloodline and how they lose control is great and leads to some gripping stories. My only negative is the revenge tale seems to be going in a weird direction and the ending made me go "what the fuck?" out of nowhere the tonal shift happened.

But I'm eager to try more. Just bought the next 4 volumes. Let's go!!!! A 4 out of 5.

I remember this sitting in my want to read shelf for a year...and I had done absolutely nothing about it until a month ago. Someone bash my head in with a shovel because I do not deserve this book and all its glory.

I was so excited to read this series despite the comparisons it has received and I'm happy to say it exceeded my expectations! Not only is the story interesting and the art beautiful but the mangaka does an amazing job balancing out the dark atmosphere with very funny moments. I'm in love, one of my favorite new series to pick up this year so far!!

I didn't know anything about Devils' Line coming into it, aside from its being a shonen manga (boys' comic). I fully expected a violent horror story, and definitely got that, but didn't expect a rather sweet teen romance between our half-vampire hero Anzai and Tsukasa, a college-aged girl he meets when he saves her from another vamp. There's certainly a lustful aspect to it, especially on Anzai's part. There's also cute and cuddly romance like them exchanging little gifts, hugging, and bickering in Tsukasa's tiny apartment, which ends up being their hangout spot.

It's pretty emo, too, with handsome Anzai frequently agonizing about how he's suddenly developed an increasingly irresistible thirst for his girlfriend's blood... and no one else's.

There's some amount of nudity in the early part of the story, and (sigh) a sequence where Tsukasa is sexually assaulted, requiring Anzai's heroic intervention. Most of the art focuses on the characters' faces, and on the whole I feel this manga treats Tsukasa respectfully. One might wish for her to grow a spine, to be more like a PNR heroine, especially since this hits a lot of the same notes as a PNR does: secret vampire hunting force, a protagonist who walks the line between human and supernatural, a heroine who is the only person who stirs the hero's heart, and so on.

The art's a little off at times, characters' heads being too big, or their hands too small. But the infrequent battle scenes are pretty good, and the balance between "light" and "heavy" content is handled well. I'll be reading more of this.

I come here for the trashy vampire romance but I stay for the unexpected police conspiracy & espionage thriller, LMAO.

I first learned about this series through the anime that's broadcasting during the spring 2018 season. It's not good at all. I don't recommend it. BUT there were enough interesting elements that I decided to check out the manga because I'd heard it was better. This first volume really starts off quirky, weird, and episodic but I know it gets better and smoother later.

(Also, it's a seinen manga by a woman! I'm always fond of those, y'know.)

In this world, humans and vampires live together. Vampires are called Devils, and they remain human until they taste human blood, so things move on from there. Vampires are working in the police force and there are half-devils as well one of whom is our MC and then there are vigilantes as well hunting Devils/Vampires. Let's see how the story progress so let's go and Keep on Reading.

I have always loved comics, and I can and I have. I love comics to bits, may the comics never leave my side. I loved reading this and love reading more. You should also read what you love, and I hope you will always love them. Even though I grew up reading local Indian comics like Raj Comics, Diamond Comics, or even Manoj Comics, now's the time to catch up on international and classic comics and Graphic novels. I am on my quest to read as many comics as I just want to Keep on Reading.

2,5/5,00 Interesting in a way. I love demons and vampires stories but I’m not a fan of instalove and weak girl who needs protection from a man.

Maybe I'll read the second volume out of curiosity maybe not. This manga looks like a spicy version of Twilight.

Ps: Love the artwork and the cover, it’s the reason why this manga catch my eye!
