This book had some good ideas, but it relies heavily on the parents on the other side of the divorce being cooperative and enlightened with no suggestions on how you should proceed when—as is so often the case—they aren't. The emphasis isn't really on step parents as the title implies, but on how the original parents can create a relationship that allows their current significant others to also be involved with the kids in a very peripheral way. I felt a lot of this book was culled from her co-parenting book, and not very deftly adapted to the dynamic of trying to blend families.
