Boy, was I in the mood for a sweet romance novel, so thank goodness for The Harder They Fall, by Trish Jensen.

Set in my hometown area of Washington, DC, The Harder They Fall not only is a romance, it's a comedy. Darcy Welham's father decides that he wants out of the restaurant business, an empire he built with Darcy's mother. But Darcy doesn't want him to sell his chain to a big corporation, largely because she believes her mother, who died when Darcy was a child, hoped Darcy would take over and
Sometimes I just fancy a nice light-hearted, but not irritating, contemporary romance, and this one, provided by netgalley, really fits that bill.

What did I like?

- The writing. It just sparkles off the page, had me laughing out loud and was just so fresh I loved it. I even have to admit that I was on a plane when I read this, with earphones on, and I did that pig-snorting out loud thing at one particular point, because it was just so funny. OK, that probably says more about me, than it does out
I enjoyed this book a lot, the heroine was a klutz, who wanted to not sell the restaurant chain started by her parents and she was the only person standing in the way of the hero getting a promotion and showing his grandfather that he was not trash and that his mother had not wasted herself working multiple jobs to support him and his sister.

I loved their adversarial relationships at first and also how the hero helped her become more confident. The romance was great as well.
1.5 stars

Imagine you go to a restaurant and the waiter looks like Grace Kelly, with slender body and great breasts.

Give her as many orders you want, she doesn’t need to write it down because she can memorize it all perfectly. Give her any number and she will shock you with her genius brain. She can add, substract, multiply, and divide as fast as the lightning. Give her all the ingredients in the kitchen and she will created a recipe to die for. She doesn’t even know how to cook, but at the age o

Darcy Welham’s parents own a chain of five-star restaurants that has brought them success and wealth, but her father is ready to sell the business to Dining Incorporated (D. I.) and retire to enjoy the fruits of his labor. Darcy is convinced that her mother, who was a partner in building the chain, would want Darcy to take over the business. Now she’s trying to persuade her father that she can run the company by learning the business from the ground up—or rather from the floor up since that’s wh ...more

Recommends it for: those who love romance with a lot of humor
A super-cute fast read, perfect for an afternoon at the beach or curled up with a hot chocolate, The Harder They Fall is that perfect, light-hearted romance to entertain you for a few hours.

Darcy Welham is the world's biggest klutz. She also has a quick mind, a fiery spirit and an exceptional memory. She's vowed to save her parents' restaurant business from being sold, and promised her father to learn the business from the ground up.

Unfortunately, her klutziness, as endearing as it may be, does

Beyond Reading

The Harder They Fall was definitely one of the more light-hearted romances I've read recently. I mean, this novel was most certainly one of the more memorable romances I've read with it's very immodest use of humour.

I loved Michael, maybe more than I loved the heroine, Darcy. The Harder They Fall was very enthralling and I enjoyed, immensely, watching the relationship morph and the characters grow as Michael helped Darcy find her confidence, despite initial misgivings in the rel

THE HARDER THEY FALL by author Trish Jenson.

Darcy Wellington is a ditzy, clumsy waitress. And Michael Davidson wants her fired. But he didn’t realize that she is the owner of the restaurants. He has to win her over, only problem they blow up every time they come near.

But when Michael discovers Darcy’s hidden talents, he tries to encourage her.

THE HARDER THEY FALL is a funny and hilarious story with witty dialogues. I loved reading it.

I enjoyed reading this book. The story is just so funny reading it. I like Darcy alot. She is so strong headed and when met with Michael, who equally strong opinionated, it is sure lit up the fire. I laughed out loud when Darcy launched a war against Michael especially the scene where he was having dinner with her father. And i could help shed a few tears when Darcy refuse to accept explanation from Michael when she thought he has betrayed her. Overall, i have fun reading this book!

Review:The Harder They Fall by Trish Jensen 2012 edition
5 Stars If you need to laugh read The Harder They Fall. This is my second novel of Trish Jensen that I have read and they both make you smile. Thier are a few sex scenes. A lot of falls, breaking dishes and other slapstick comedy. Darcy Welham is working at a restraunt in Washington D.C. undercover. She stopped the sale of her father's restraunts to a big company because she wants to run them. The employees want the sale to go through. The m

I enjoyed this mostly lighthearted romantic romp. It captured my attention right away, and kept me entertained. I liked the two main characters, Darcy Welham and Michael Davidson, and it was great to watch their relationship develop. I thought the storyline was good, and look forward to reading more by this author.

Darcy Welham feels immediate antipathy toward Michael Davidson because he is trying to negotiate a deal for the company he works for to buy her father's restaurants. It doesn't help th

When I read a review saying that this book was hilarious and the reader had fallen from his couch from all the laugher ... Inevitably, it intrigued and inspired me.

Moreover, the story was promising: a young woman who becomes clumsy and a real walking disaster every times she becomes nervous. And her nerves were instantly in plot whenever the handsome and dark hero were near her. All these elements were perfect to let me hope for some good time.

But then, the bar was set very high by this first re

I really enjoyed reading this book. There were quite a few sections where I had to stop for a minute and just laugh because of something silly one side or the other did.

Darcy is a smart woman but has always had a penchant for being in the middle of odd circumstances that has gotten her labeled as a jinx. Due to this she has been lonely most of her life. People either want to protect her from being hurt (physically and mentally) or run away screaming when something that happens around her hurts t

This is an adorable story about falling in love when you least expect it. This is the perfect romance to curl up on a couch with or to read at the beach. And it is not hard to fall quickly for these characters. These are the kind of characters you wish you had as friends.

The character of Darcy is just such a klutz that she is adorable. She is sweet, naive and innocent and even as a reader you worry for her and want to make sure she ends up all right. Mich

Darcy is the poor little rich girl who stops her father from selling the family restaurants to a company that Michael works for. She is proving to her dad that she can do it by working as a waitress in one of the restaurants (undercover) although her klutziness is making it hard.

Michael is expecting a promotion once this deal goes through and can't believe he has to get Darcy to change her mind. But as he gets to know her, he isn't sure what the right thing to do is.

Made it about 20% and still didn't feel anything for the hero or the heroine, and I found what was supposed to be funny to be immature and annoying.
