The Side Hustle is for people who want or need to earn some extra money outside of their day jobs. Maybe you need a few extra dollars to make ends meet. Maybe you want to pay off debt.Maybe you want to save for a rainy day or for your children’s education. Maybe you just want to treat yourself to a nice vacation or a new car without feeling guilty about it. Maybe you’re looking for a way out of the corporate world, an escape plan. That’s the ultimate financial freedom, right? That’s how I got started down this entrepreneurial path, and it’s the best choice I ever made. You’re willing to work for it because your future is worth working for.But your time is limited, and you may not know where to start. There are a million and one ways to “make money online” and everyone wants to sell you their “proven system for Internet riches.” It’s hard to tell what’s a scam and what’s legit. This book offers real-world examples of how regular people just like you and me are earning side hustle income outside of traditional employment. Many have even turned these part-time ventures into full-time businesses, throwing off the shackles of their corporate overlords for good. And the cool thing is, there are no special technical skills or prerequisites to get started with any of the ideas presented. Most don’t require any big scary upfront investment. (If you're a fan of Chris Guillebeau, Pat Flynn, or Tim Ferriss, you'll love this!) After college, I did what you’re supposed to I got a job.The problem was almost immediately I found myself looking for a way out. It wasn’t that I hated the work or my coworkers, but it just wasn’t what I wanted to do with my life. The thought of spending my next 30 years there was terrifying. So evenings and weekends I turned my attention online. I’d been dabbling with building rudimentary websites, learning online advertising channels, and even running my own small marketing campaigns for other companies' products to test the waters. And that’s what The Side Hustle is about—finding a low-risk way make more money. Most entrepreneurship books assume you have limitless time and limitless startup capital, but I know from talking to thousands of side hustlers, that’s simply not the reality. I started small and lean, but steadily built up my side hustle until I could say good-bye to corporate work. You can do it, too. I'll show you how. If you’re looking for a get-rich-quick-scheme or the secret to overnight success, you won’t find it here. But what you will find are the "Big 3" side hustle business models you can take action on right away.I've interviewed hundreds of profitable side hustlers on The Side Hustle Show to figure out how their businesses work, how they make money, and most importantly, how you can replicate their success. In this book, you'll meet these real-world side hustlers who built and sustained businesses they care about. The second version of Nick's book on side hustles. Walkthrough ideas in 3 sections 1) Selling a service, 2) Selling a product, and 3) Selling an audience.
As you move from section 1-3, the work and time needed for success grow, but so does the freedom and scalability. For anyone just exploring how to make another $500-$1000 bucks per month the selling a service is a great option.
Overall a great book at least explores ideas. If you get into products and audience paths you will need more information.
I have put off reading this book for a while. I'm glad I read it. I don't think every suggestion is actionable by me. The approach and questions I need to answer (promoted by the book/author) will prove helpful.
However, this definitely lights the fuel inside me to figure out the side hustle I've been wanting to launch for some years now.
I received a free download of this book on “Free Stuff Your Kindle Day”. As someone who runs their own successful small business, I was open to expanding my wings and exploring a new genre which I had not previously delved into before. At a baseline, I was interested in minor growth, or small ideas about how to further my clientele reach. This book was an unexpectedly easy read, and Nick does a great job speaking to both newcomers and seasoned business operators within his simple, yet effective approaches. I am walking away from this book with an unexpectedly new look on my own business and field, and potential ways to scale up. I do, however, wish that Nick had explored more into managing the finances of a business, all the way from pricing a service, to reinvesting in the business, to diversifying personal wealth.
The author certainly knows the topic very well having set up a side hustle himself from scratch. I learnt 3 main types of side hustles:
1) Service business 2) Product business 3) Audience business
While he doesn't give you each step to take, he gives enough pointers to get us started on the journey. Because of this book, I've applied for an Amazon seller account.
Hopefully this will be the start of a new journey!
This book delivers on its premise - written by an expert in the field, it pieces together dozens of different interviews and ideas to present a clear path to designing and launching a $1k a month side hustle.
The only area that it could have improved is by providing more detail on strategies and tactics.
Really enjoy Nick Loper's ideas and insights into starting a side hustle and turning it into your full-time work. The author's got plenty of sources too as he's interviewed a lot of successful hustlers!
It was a good read for me. Got many ideas out of it. Some are old but still work these days, so it was like to confirm if you are coming the right way. It was one sit reading but with many insight stories of how his clients changed life working as a side hustle.
I learned a few good things to do to start a digital side hustle. Very informative. I'll be taking notes and also be listening to the Side Hustle Podcast the author shared with us. This is a book you definitely use as a reference guide to get you started.
