About the author

Andrew "Andy" C. Highfield is a regular contributor herpetological journals in both Europe and the U.S. with over 60 scientific papers and articles published on the subject of tortoises. He is technical adviser to a number of zoos and conservation projects. A co-founder of both the Tortoise Trust and the Tortoise Survival Project, he has engaged in extensive fieldwork in the Mediterranean where he has embarked upon a full taxonomic survey and revision of the genus Testudo. He served as the international director of the Tortoise Trust and author of Keeping and Breeding Tortoises in Captivity (1990); Practical Encyclopedia of Keeping and Breeding Tortoises and Freshwater Turtles (1996); The Tortoise and Turtle Feeding Manual (2000); and Keeping a Pet Tortoise (2009).

Full of facts on keeping and breeding tortoise.good section on first aid and and what to look out for it your tortoise is unwell
