Actors must think of themselves as products to be sold because show business is about making art is extra. For beginning and veteran actors in big cities or small towns, this new, expanded, 6th Edition offers organized nuts and bolts information vital to success.
Good, albeit a tad condescending if you're not an 8th grader living in Texas. K Callen likes to remind you of her modest background and good ole' girl morals, but other than that it's a very helpful book. I don't know if I'm going to write down a notebook's worth business plan, but you know what? I probably should.
I read an older edition, so the information was a bit dated in spots. Still, a pretty good overview of how to get into the acting business. It leans heavily towards the NY and LA markets, but that's to be expected. I was reading it as a puppeteer trying to find more work, so some of the book wasn't entirely applicable to my situation. Still a worthwhile read, though.
