This continues after the devastating news in book 1,we actually went back a bit as we got the H's POV at the time of the incident. The h had a long road to recovery after the trauma she experienced, I liked that the H never gave up on her. He didn't take the "divorce" as an opportunity to cheat but reiterated a million times that he loved his wife and wanted to be with her. I cried a lot at the beginning and was happy to see them recover and pick up the pieces of their lives. That ending was all the damn things, I was so happy for them!
I will say that the 9/11 incident covered here threw me off a bit but all in all this was a sweet but emotional read that I enjoyed.
****** ETA
IT creeped me out that the h's grandmother ended up with the H's uncle because he dated her daughter before he was with her. Granted the daughter was a bitch extraordinaire but still that's gross!
(This Review concerns BOTH books of the Retake Duet)
5 ‘ Here Comes The Sun’ Stars
Whoaaaaa… What a LIFE IMPACTFUL/ALTERING story!!! You know those books that mark your life and you will never forget?! This duet is exactly that for me! Retake Duet just gave my heart the most intense of workouts. It is so much more than a romance! Garrett and Shae’s beautiful story is ALL about the journey, the healing, the passion and most of all the UNMOVING LOVE!!!
I have to start by saying that I was going to separate do a review for both books, separately, but at the end, I just couldn’t do it. Their journey is so impactful for me, and for that reason, I’m expressing in this review, my feelings for the duet as a whole, because that’s what it was, the story may have been split in two parts, but I read them back to back, and my overall feelings are for their story, their path, and all the emotions took root from the first chapter in book one and didn’t even end with the last word of the Epilogue. They will stay with me FOREVER!
“He looks at you like you’re something precious he’s had on layaway for a long-ass time and he’s two payments away from taking it home.”
In his arms I discovered what the term weak at the knees meant. He tasted like happily ever after and liquid lust all rolled into one, and I never, ever wanted it to end.
Another reason for the combined review is the fact that I really don’t want to spoil anything about Garrett and Shaelyn’s story. I went in blind to read this and I am sooooooo thankful I did, the EMOTIONAL IMPACT of their journey is just unbeatable! Every moment was a surprise, every step was discovery, and every single emotion they felt, I felt it right along with them.
The need I have for you is all-consuming. I wake up thinking about you, I go to bed thinking about you, and when I’m asleep, I dream about you. When I think about my future, you’re in it.”
When you least expected love, it found you.
The very first book starts in a way that we immediately know that something happened that tore up and pushed them apart, going them to show us in a intricate and captivating way their love story from the very first moment they locked eyes. It’s a slow burn, but a deliciously realistic and close to heart way. Their blooming romance made me fall in love right along with them. So on On The Way Down, we see them fall in love, and get together, in a beautiful Holywood ‘Cinderella’ like scheme, that is very much my catnip. This fairytale though, is shaken to the core when tragedy, by the end of book one, strikes in the most heartbreaking of manners ( I SOBBED LIKE A BABY, AND I SELDOM CRY IN MY READS!), and their relationship is put to the test in every way.
I’d do whatever it took to remind her of the thing I knew to be true above all else. We belonged together.
That’s where we start on book two, On The Way Back. The title was absolutely SPOT ON! The second book truly was all about recovering and dealing with the aftermath of the tragedy, and most of all HEALING! OMG… The emotional charge, the conflict, the pain, the desperation, I felt every single one of those emotions along with Shae and Garrett. My heart was literally hurting for these two, so damn much! The issues discussed are so close to everyone’s heart in one way or another, I very much doubt this duet can be read without absorving and LIVING those emotions, right along with them. That’s how brilliant and masterfully Ella Fox wove them!
Ms. Fox crafted the very definition of the PERFECT romance hero, ultimate book boyfriend and my favorite EF male character – and I thought Mateo Cruz would hold that title forever, lol – in Garrett Riordan. He is EVERYTHING I want and search in my romance novels, and then some! Perfect in every way, his undying, unshakeable love and devotion thought this struggling and desperate journey was the stuff that fairytales – and romance books – are made of. Truly perfect!
The other was my heart, and I’d never give up on her—on us. Quitting wasn’t an option. I would fight for Shaelyn until the stars fell from the sky and my bones turned to dust.
“I gave you my whole heart, Shaelyn—not just a portion of it. It’s been yours this whole time because it’s constant.
Right now, in this very moment, my heart continues to be yours. It’ll be yours in five years, and it will still be yours thirty years after that. This love is not temporary. It will not decrease in scope or go away.
And Shaelyn… Oh my heart… Even though she’s so young when they first meet, she indeed was an old soul in young body, mainly due to her sad past. She was created in such a realistic and natural way, that I couldn’t help but relate to her, I was literally cheering from her from the get go, and when the tragedy hits them, I was hurting so damn much for her. Not all was heartbreaking, and each victory I felt in my heart just as much. I really was living all the emotions trough her and that is the proof of how masterful the story telling is in this duet!
WHAT AN UNFORGETTABLE JOURNEY! I can honestly say I will never forget this story, these two, and specially their unwavering love! The Retake Duet will go straight to my list of top all time fav, EPIC LOVE STORY, romance novels. Yep, it’s right there in my list of literary masterpieces!!! The definition of a MUST READ! NOW! <3 <3 <3 <3 <3
My heart was made to beat along with yours. Until the day I die, it’ll be you. I love you so goddamn much, Shaelyn.
“Thank you for never losing faith.” “Not even for a second,” he vowed. “This marriage is forever.” “And always,”

Phew. I cried through most of this book. So much pain. How about Garrett though?! I mean wow. She was it for him the minute he saw her. No other women. No ow drama. He never hesitated or backed away. Just waited til she was of age. Even in the hard times.... she was it for him. Absolute perfect hero.
What an amazing experience to read this series! I was glad not to read it until the 2nd book was released. These two main characters were so great, esp H, he was so understanding that he had never given up on h. He suffered, too, but he had to be the strong one.
As for h, how heartbroken she must be, still, she faced the sadness and overcome it. Loved to read the love H and h had toward each other, and how supportive H was toward h.
Loved the great epilogue!
P.S. No worries, they were faithful toward each other during separation.
This book had my emotions going. Once I started I couldn’t put it down. Oops no housework done today. I loved both books in this duet. I loved how Garrett never gave up on Shaelyn. I hope you all enjoy these books as much as I have. Thank.
To say I was excited going in is a huge under statement. The emotional investment I had in Garret and Shaelyn from book one left me anxious as to how this would play out. And Ella has totally blown this out of the water. Expect to cry and when I say cry I mean UGLY CRY.
When they lost their child Melody all I could think of was the absolute agony one must experience doing so. Knowing you had to deliver your baby and she was already gone would have totally shattered anyone.
Watching it happen in my mind as I read really doesn't prepare you for the emotions you feel for our two leads. The compassion and care taken with the writing was an experience all on it's own.
Garrett's love for his wife is something out of a fairytale. Seeing his struggle as she withdrew into herself and unable to help her killed me. His commitment to Shaelyn was perfection. Reading his inner dialogue hit me. It made you want to offer comfort to him.
But it was Shaelyn who truly nailed it. Her inner thoughts on what happened and why, would be something I think anyone would feel. Her answer to atone for what she felt was her fault by divorcing Garrett showed her as a person who would selflessly lose any chance of happiness so he could go on was moving. Refusing any kind of therapy she leaves LA and Garrett behind.
With Shaelyn back in Vegas, and Garrett staying in a studio room he rented as he refused to go back to their house unless they were together, we watch and wait. Garrett is constantly in contact with Shaelyn. Emails that he never fails to send and tell her that he loves her.
As the months go by and slowly turns to a year, we see Shaelyn grow slowly stronger. She's thinking about therapy and maybe it's time. She knows she shouldn't look forward to Garretts emails but she can't lose that connection to him.
But when she does break finally it's the start of them finding there way back to each other.
With Garrett by her side she finally makes the decision that it's time to talk to someone. Finding her way to New York to begin the slow journey back to life she has her best friend Tia by her side. This is something she needed to do on her own without Garrett by her side.
But New York brings a whole new perspective to Shaelyn. She feels stronger each day, she talks with Garrett constantly about how she is feeling, he may not be with her but he's there each step she goes through.
But when terror hits the heart of America we watch Shaelyn comprehend that life is too short, she will never forget losing her child but she now realises whats important. And that's life, happiness and that is with Garrett by her side.
Again with the crying but that's how much of an emotional journey you are on reading their story. You can't help but connect on a deeper level with this story. Their story could be anyones.
Garrett's unwavering faith in his vows and that he never lost hope and he never gave up on them was what just one of the things that I fell in love with.
An author can write a book that you fall in love with but when one writes a story that you feel and connect with, that's what sets them apart for me as a reader.
What a beautiful ending to Garrett and Shaelyn's story. I was crying within the first few minutes. I wasn't sure what the climax was going to be... I thought of a couple scenarios including some drama Jewel, a possible death, among other things. I was not expecting what it actually was and it brought back some many memories and emotions from that time. I was sobbing on my front porch as I was reading through Shaelyn's account of events. It was definitely worth the wait!!!
At the start of On the Way Back, Shae and Garrett have just experienced a loss no one should ever have to experience. But, they've still got each other, and that should be enough for them to move forward at some point. Except, Shae cannot seem to move forward, understandably so, and she ends up leaving Garrett so he'll be in a place where he can move on.
Garrett is not about to move on or go forward without the love of his life, though, no matter what the divorce papers say. So he persists, never failing to let Shae know how much he loves her and how he'll always, always be there, waiting for her to get her head out of her ass and come back to him. Will Shae ever come out of the fog and find her way back to the only man she's ever loved or will she continue to allow her loss to keep her down?
But when an American tragedy (you can probably guess which one) rocks New York and beyond, it just may be the catalyst to Shae's healing, allowing her to have an epiphany desperately needed by both Shae and Garrett.
This conclusion to the Retake Duet is far, far more emotional than its predecessor. I was hurting for both Garrett and Shae as they navigated the waters that always surround one after a huge loss. I wanted to hug Shae as she laid about in a fog, and I wanted to shake her when she couldn't seem to pull out of it, and ended up hurting Garrett even more than he was already hurting after their shared loss. And Garrett? Whew, that man is love. His persistence, his absolute devotion to Shae was something not seen a lot of, even in romantic fiction. Shae was damned lucky to have him! If you're like me and have read On the Way Down and have been anxiously awaiting to see how Shae and Garrett would fix the rock and a hard place they'd found themselves in, I highly recommend you download your copy of On the Way Back today. Just be prepared and bring a box of tissues with you, because you'll need them!

This is the 2nd book in the series and omg it's a rollercoaster. A rollercoaster of emotions that I didn't think was possible. Absolutely fabulous read. Shaelyn and Garrett story is amazing with a few twists in it. But the way it ended was the best. If you know she or he is the one you never give up. Thanks Ella for this wonderful story.
This story is full of ups and downs. Horrible day in American history, but I really enjoyed how Ella detailed this day. Enjoyed isn’t the right word, but you get what I mean. Great story with an excellent epilogue.
This is the second and concluding past of Shaelyn and Garrett’s wonderful story. This is a beautifully written flawless story which is an emotional coaster ride from beginning to end, and is the perfect ending for this duet. I was intrigued and captivated throughout, and I look forward to reading more from this talented author, whose work I highly recommend for all readers.
This book was definitely worth the wait. After I read the first book, I absolutely couldn’t wait to read this one. I was hooked from the beginning and I couldn’t put it down.
This is the conclusion of Shae & Garretts love story!!! And how they deal with all the emotions and twist and turns of what life has thrown at them!!
Wow Ella Fox has beautifully written and dealt with some powerful situations within this story and has done a wonderful job of dealing with the emotions in a very tactful way
Let me start this book review by saying that if I could give this book all of the stars in the world, I would. I just spent the last few hours devouring every unforgettable, emotional, beautifully breathtaking word of this book and I am in love.
I am in love with Garrett and Shaelyn. I am in love with their second chance at at all. I am in love with the fact that these two souls fought like hell for the chance to get back to one another. I am in love with every ounce of authenticity and emotional struggle and heartbreak that they left on the pages of this book because it was so real and so visceral and so all feeling in the most unforgettable way. I am in love with how these characters left everything on the pages of these books, and how my heart and soul took all of that and more with them.
I am in love with everything that this author so phenomenally gave me in this book with her characters.
Ella Fox has written one of the most unforgettable, all feeling, and deeply beautiful love stories that I’ve read in quite some time with this book. What she gave me with her characters is something that I will not soon forget. I was in love with the two of them from the very first page of the story, and through every single page after, that love just deepened. That love just amplified. That love just grew exponentially because of what these characters gave me along the way. I truly cannot tell you enough how much I loved every second of their journey. It was heartbreaking at times, it was beautiful at others, it made me swoon and melt and feel everything, and most of all it just showed me that there are no two people more meant to be then Garrett and Shaelyn.
This book picks up where the events of the last one left off. I won’t say much about that because spoilers ain’t cool, but let me just tell you that my heart broke for these characters. They face their fair amount of struggle, but what I have to say is that this author is a phenomenal job of letting you understand my trouble. She let you understand why things start to fall apart. She lets you understand why these characters get to the places they do. She lets you understand and feel and get their struggles. But more than that she also lets you know and believe with everything you have that they will find their way back to one. I loved how she incorporated that into every part of the story because it gave me so much hope. It was the light and all the heaviness. It was the beauty in the pain and it was everything.
I think one of my favorite aspects of this book was the simple fact that these characters never gave up on one another. Even when you thought that they might succumb to the heaviness of it all, these characters pull through. They show you that their love is worth it. They show you that there is no end. They show you that they are meant to be. I felt that in my bones through every part of this book, and I love that that resonated so deeply with me as I was with these characters.
And I just have to say here for the record, Garrett Riordan, is hands-down probably one of the most heart driven male characters I’ve ever read. When I tell you that man was never going to give up on the love of his life, when I tell you he was in it in every way possible, and when I tell you that that man was willing to do whatever it took to put the love of his life back together again, I mean that with everything I have.
I don’t think I’ve ever melted or swooned as much as I did with that man because he loved Shaelyn. He loved his wife. He loved her at her highest and lowest and every second in between, and he was bound and determined to do whatever it took to get them back to a place where they could be together. And I loved him. I loved his heart and his soul and his goodness and I just love how he loves her. It was beautifully breathtaking to get what I did with him in this book, and he will forever be one of my favorite male heroes ever.
It also goes without saying that I loved Shaelyn‘s character. I felt so much for that girl, and I felt so connected to her. I have not had the same life experiences as her, but I think it’s a true testament to what this author allows you to understand and get with her that I felt so connected to her. I felt her struggle. I felt like I was a part of her journey. I felt what it was like to be with her as she tried to piece herself back together again after the unthinkable. I felt her fire. I felt her heart and her beauty of her soul. I felt how much she wanted things to be better. I felt every gamut of emotion and reaction and feeling that she had in this book. I felt it all with her and I got it and I understood it and it just made me love her more because I got all of that.
The events of the story are not easy on her, but let me tell you, she is one of the strongest female characters I’ve ever had the pleasure of reading. She is layered and real and authentic. She is a woman who goes through so much, and yet shows that second chances really can give you everything. I loved her with my whole heart and this book just solidified that love even more.
Ella Fox made this an absolutely incredible and emotional story. She takes these characters on a journey that is not easy, on a journey that will hurt your heart, but on a journey that will truly resonate with how deep and true their love for one another is. That love shined on every page even in the moments of struggle they had, and I loved how this author brought it all together. The way that she gave these characters what she did and allowed them to put the pieces of themselves back together again was absolutely phenomenal. It gave my heart everything it needed and more, and it just had me so beyond in love with these characters and their love story.
I really cannot say enough how much I absolutely love this duet. I read these books in a matter of hours because I truly cannot get enough of everything I read with these characters. The story was layered and emotional and real and beautiful and heartbreaking and everything under the sun. It was so thoughtfully captured and created, and the way this author lets it all unfold will just pull your heart in something fierce to everything you’re reading. That coupled with everything between Shaelyn and Garrett will just have you loving their love and rooting like hell for the two of them through every turn of that page. And trust me when I say, if you stick with the two of them, if you give their second chance at love a chance, you will not regret it.
I promise you that.
I’m honestly just sitting here writing this book review thinking about how much I loved the story. It was beautiful and romantic, it was real and authentic, it was so honest and true and it just resonated with me. It resonated with me and every way and I could not be more in love with everything I just read. It definitely wasn’t the easiest or light as of stories, but this author does these characters in their journey that justice they deserve. She allows you to be there through every high and low, she allows you to believe in them and fight with them, and she allows you to be there through every moment that puts them back together again.
This book will have you believing in the power of soulmates and true love, and it will have you knowing that these characters are meant to be. And knowing and feeling that through every single word of this duet is just one of the many amazing things about this story. Ella Fox creates one of the most beautifully breathtaking stories I’ve read with Garrett and Shaelyn, and I will be forever grateful that I had the chance to get their story.
If you are looking for a love story that is emotional, that is romantic, that will give you at all, run yourself to this duet. I cannot stress enough how much I love these books. I am so glad I finally caught up on this author and her books because I have been missing out by not having read this story.
This is what love stories are made of, and this one is one that I know I’ll never forget. This one definitely is going down in the books as a story of two people who are so beyond right for one another, who are just written in the stars, who are just meant to be. I treasured every second I got with them, and even when they broke my heart and made me cry, I loved them because they were real, they were them, and they weren’t afraid to share and show their love. And that? Well that was beyond beautiful to read and experience.
Ella Fox has completely outdid herself with this story, and I cannot wait to continue catching up on all of her books. They are some of my absolute favorite, and this story is getting added to the top of that list. It was everything and more and it is a story you should read this very second!
Not my favorite book and as a duet I can say the characters were my least favorite. The author however knows how to write a story with all the feels as always!
On the Way Back is the 2nd book in the Retake Duet, which means it's the conclusion, so it's very clear that YOU MUST READ On the Way Down (Book 1) FIRST! See, the amazing Ella Fox tried to kill me & whoever else read the first book on quite the cliffy, it was severe enough that I was dying inside, so this story picked back up from there. I'm not going into details because 1. I'm not into spoiler douchery. 2. Ms. Fox was so sweet at the beginning of the book about giving big things away. And 3. It's so much better to go in blind. I will, however, go on & on about my emotional state, okay, maybe not on & on, because the longer I ramble on, the bigger likelihood an accidental spoiler makes an appearance. This story brought me to my knees, then kicked me when I was down. There's no other way to describe it. I pride myself on being hard, not a b*t*h baby, but Ms. Fox messed with my emotions big time with this Duet, so kudos to her. And it's not like I couldn't understand what was going on whether I agreed with it or not, it was just a bitter pill to swallow. I will say I loved how it was done, because too many times things happen that I can't forgive in other books, even if the hero or heroine can, but in this case, nothing like that did, as love showed out at the end of the day, which proved that Shaelyn & Garrett were the real thing. However, that's not to say it wasn't a bumpy ride that tried to kill me, but anything worth having is hard work. So if you want to understand everything I just cryptically said, you'll have to one click this emotional piece of goodness that will wreck you in the best ways possible. HIGHLY HIGHLY HIGHLY RECOMMEND!
Ella Fox is back with the second book in the Retake Duet and OMG y'all! I've been patiently waiting for this release... keeping Shaelyn and Garrett in the back of my mind since I read On The Way Down and IT. IS. HERE. Finally, the conclusion to their love story is here and I devoured allllllll the words they gave and then wanted to go back and start it all over again.
On The Way Back was everything I needed it to be for Shaelyn and Garrett. After that heartbreaking end in book one, I knew the road was going to be hard, emotional, complicated but so freaking worth it if it meant they would work everything out. And I was right. Ella slayyyyed this book (though I never had any doubts she wouldn't) while ripping me apart then very precisely piecing me back together. Plus Garrett.... swoon so hard y'all!!
Unputdownable. Unforgettable. You aren't ready for this one. You'll feel it all and you'll feel it hard, right from the very start but y'all... trust me when I say Ella did it right and she did it brilliantly good.
This isn't a standalone at all so make sure to start at the beginning.
If you like a book that brings all the heat in the most sizzling ways, all the feels (talk about punches to the heart!) in the best ways, and characters you'll never, ever forget then this duet is a must read.
This book is the conclusion of Shaelyn and Garrett's love story that started in “On the Way Down”. Together, they had everything, but somehow it all went terribly wrong. Heartbreak might be the perfect reset button for their lives, a chance for a new beginning.
Shaelyn is struggling with feelings of guilt, she believes she is responsible for her baby’s death. She refuses Garrett’s help and won’t allow herself to feel their love for each other. She tries to escape her pain, lock her emotions up and evade reality. She has insisted on a divorce, but being away from Garrett is painful to her.
There is nothing Garrett wouldn’t do for Shaelyn, he is convinced that some things are just worth fighting for. But before anything can progress between them, the past has to be considered and then put away, focusing on the present and what they can mean to each other in the future. I was thrilled they found each other again. But I guess I would have liked it to have had more punch, this second part of their story felt so rushed. From the start, Garrett shined. He is sexy, considerate, kind and down to earth. He is devoted to Shaelyn and his love is so deep.
The Retake Duet is a romance that is beautiful, poignant and takes readers on an emotional journey. Garrett and Shaelyn’s road to happiness was not an easy one, but their love overcame tragedy to get a second chance.
My honest review is based on an advanced reader copy of this book.
Ella Fox made the wait for the conclusion of the Retake duet totally worth it. She dug deep into the characters and made me feel every emotion. It is a must read if you love to read about healing power of true love.
It is hard to talk about the story line in case you have not read the first book. Garrett and Shaelyn have suffered a great loss. And it broke Shaelyn. And after months of struggle when she was getting her pieces back together, another larger than life tragedy struck her. Can she overcome it? Will she realize life is too short to hold back her love?
I loved Garrett's character. This story had lots of chapters from Garrett's POV and I liked that a lot. He is an amazing man. Always supportive, protective and caring even when his own heart is breaking from all the hurt. Shaelyn's character changed a lot through the book. I was captivated by the author's expression of emotions. The heartbreaking grief and suffering touched my heart deeply. The love they had was trully real and amazing.
Ella Fox has put a lot of heartfelt intense emotions in On the Way Back. She has expertly and honestly took me through the journey of true love and survival after losing everything. I connected with the couple deep in my heart and that is a really important reason to call it a great read.
On The Way Back Retake Duet #2 Ella Fox ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
Well that was huge… please read book one in this series before you start this one. Trust me your gonna be thankful. If you have read On The Way Down you’ll know how explosive it was, this one was even more… With one hurdle over another, the love life of Garrett and Shaelyn is anything but normal. This story is filled with tears, gasps and more surprises than book one.
I’m not really sure how to put it into a review without giving anything away so I’ll keep this short and sweet. If you love angst, really love complete with devastation in both personal and real lives… As Shae deals with the worst devastating news and falls into depression leaving Garrett out in his own. Seeing both their lives, their decisions, their shocks, their answers, 2 souls will come together in the ultimate make up. Sometimes the worst things in life make you see the good in others. I believe this is Garrett and Shae. Their love is not easy, but it’s so real and those real feelings bring everything together in the perfect ending. xo

I was pulled right into this story. This is a 2-part story so be prepared to get both parts. The story has pain, secrets, suspense, and heartbreak.
This is the conclusion of Shaelyn and Garrett’s story. The love is there but these two have struggles and heartbreak. Will they be able to overcome those struggles to be together or should they just walk away? Some couples can only take some much before they breakdown is there hope that this couple can overcome all the pain to come back together? This book drips with emotions. Bring your tissues and your bubble wrap for the kindle. You will want to throw it. This is the part where you get all your answers. They might not be the answers you wanted or expected but you get them. Where there is tragedy that shatters you sometimes love will heal all the shattered pieces. Can broken hearts heal enough for the love to be stronger than ever?
I loved these characters and the side characters. I felt I could connect with the characters and the story was a great read.
I have been waiting not-so-patiently for the conclusion of Shae and Garrett’s story. And it was a beautiful reunion. This is a heartbreaking story of a married couple facing one of the hardest things a husband and wife can face. But rather than deal with it together. Shaelynn breaks down and shuts Garrett out.
Not willing to give up on his wife or their life, Garrett fights with everything he has. When Shae eventually has a breakthrough, he’s there supporting her every step of the way... Even when they are on opposite sides of the country. But as Shaw is going through treatment, the unthinkable happens — and being torn apart forever is a very likely possibility — it makes her realize what she wants... Garrett back in her life for good.
I’ve been through what Shae has, and it was a realistic portrayal of what the husband and wife go through. I so appreciated how it wasn’t glossed over, but dealt with. And we saw how it affected both of them.
This was a wonderful conclusion to this duet. I received an advanced copy and voluntarily left a review.
What can I say about Garret and Shae? MUST READ THAT'S WHAT!
Garret and Shae's journey took me through ever emotion the human body can possibly feel. This book wrung my body dry from all the tears I shed, but it also gave me a renewed sense of living my life to its fullest.
Ella Fox wrote a heartbreakingly beautiful story, that I am so glad I was blessed with the opportunity to read. It hit very close to home on a few different topics, that I won't go in to detail about because I think that every reader should travel that journey on their own and in their own way! If you are blessed enough to pick up this duet and read in it's entirety, YOU WILL NOT BE DISAPPOINTED!!!
THANK YOU ELLA FOX FOR GARRET AND SHAELYN!
OH AND P.S. I HOPE EVERY WOMEN COULD BE FORTUNATE AND BLESSED ENOUGH TO FIND THEMSELVES A GARRET TO PARNTER WITH IN THIS JOURNEY WE CALL LIFE!
On The Way Back is the second book in the Retake Duet. Book One is On The Way Down and should be read prior to this one. I adore this book and it was definitely worth the wait. I felt every emotion during the conclusion of Shae and Garrett's journey to happily ever after. Their story was one of deep love that is tested in one of the worst ways a couple can imagine. It's a story about never giving up on the one you love most in this world. It makes you believe that even in the worst of times as a couple, and even in this world, love wins. Sometimes I struggle with stories like this and I shed many tears, but every one spilled was worth it in the end. I definitely felt what the couple was going through and cheered them on throughout the journey. Wonderful job, Ms. Fox!!! 5 STARS!!!
"I choose you. I choose life. I choose love - our love - and I'm going to fight my way back to you."
Oh my heart!! What a wonderful, beautiful, heart-wrenching story! My heart was breaking for both Garrett and Shaelyn. What a horrible thing to have to experience together, only to have it rip you apart.
After going through a life -altering and soul-crushing event, Shaelyn struggles to recover -to continue to live her life. Feeling that she is now only a shadow of the woman Garrett married, she makes what she believes to be the ultimate sacrifice. She pushes him away so he can go find someone else - someone that can give him what she no longer feels she can.
But Garrett is having none of that. She may think they're over, but he knows they'll never be over. He's going to fight for her - for both of them. There is no life without her. Just when things are looking promising, another tragedy strikes that may tear them apart forever.
This book put my heart through an emotional wringer!! I was begging Shaelyn to call Garrett - just pick up the phone, Girl!! I loved the way Garrett never lost faith in her, or in the love they had for each other. Gah!! These two are amazing!! Pick up the duet if you haven't read it yet. Have the Kleenex handy - trust me, you're going to go through a box.....or two. Even though what this couple endured was at times difficult to read, I left the duet with a warm fuzzy feeling that can only come with an Ella Fox happily ever after. Totally recommend this duet to everyone!
