Jeff Foxworthy's Redneck Dictionary II: More Words You Thought You Knew the Meaning Of

Rate this book
Clearly one redneck dictionary was not enough. And it’s no wonder. The South is positively bursting at the seams with colorful words and turns of phrases in this distinct dialect. Now men and women from all across this great land can further fine-tune their fluency and showcase their confidence when speaking to folks who hail from below the Mason-Dixon line. Need a crash course in this truly inspired lingo? Well, Jeff Foxworthy’s Redneck Dictionary II puts the “vern” in “vernacular,” offering up a veritable gumbo of must-be-known

infamy (in’fe-mé) adv. and n. another person’s intent to exact physical punishment . “Ever since I stole his girlfriend, Bobby’s had it infamy.”

assassin (e-sas’-en) v. to disrespect verbally. “Don’t just stand there assassin me, boy–go clean your room!”

honor student (än’-er stu’-dent) prep. and n. to be positioned over, and supported by, a pupil. “ Yeah, I knew piano lessons after midnight was weird, but I still didn’t suspect nothin’ till I caught her honor student.”

So open your ears and activate your funny bone with this hilarious, practical, and playfully illustrated reference. It’s like having your very own personal dialect coach–one who doesn’t mind getting picked up and read and laughed at and passed along to friends.

This one was even better than the first one! Again, taking words I thought I knew the meaning of, flipping them completely on their heads and then spitting them back out with such colorful examples and sentences. I even knew some of these words because I have heard them used (or even used some myself!) I think I'm done with my vocabulary lesson for the day but man, what a good read!

Delivered in small doses by a good comedian, like Foxworthy, these puns can be funny. As a long list, they become wearisome.

It’s worth to have laying around for a mildly amusing chuckle. I’d read a few each morning to start my day. Just mind numbing stupidity

Book Cover: The book cover was just ok. I wasn't like oh wow I love this cover but it was ok. *STAR*

Author: Jeff Foxworthy is a comedian who has some good originaly stuff. *STAR*

Story: This book is filled with everyday words that have been transfered into "Redneck" words with new meanings and examples of how to use them. *STAR*

Charater/Realtionship: I guess if you wanted to try and be a comdian this would help you develop your character. No Star

Cleanliness: There was some pretty crude jokes and illistations in this book. NO STAR

Overall Review: I can't say I would read this book again. It was a fast read of about 150ish pages and though there were a few good ones in here the crude outweighed the good so I don't think I'll be keeping this one on my bookshelf.

I guarantee that you will read this book and hear Jeff Foxworthy's drawl -- which makes it all the funnier, and the more groan-out-loud. A couple of examples below:

saint: to deny or argue against the state of something
"You just keep driving along, dude, but I’m tellin’ you, saint the right way!"

Weed Eater: a phrase indicating past group mastication
"Every time we were at your grannie’s, Weed Eater cookies when she wasn’t looking."
