I'm not exactly sure if there is an English translation available, but I've had the pleasure of reading the Portuguese. This may not be my favourite book from all time because I can't possibly choose one book when I've read so many that I loved, but this one is certainly amongst the best I've read yet.
In a futuristic New York, recently invaded by swarms of blue coloured flies lives Pearl, a young woman with a taste for the study of rare languages and a passion for the science of the imagination. Her life solitary life is abruptly disturbed with the meeting of Cosmo, a mysterious figure whose eyes change colour over his emotions, a man who brings forth a world of fantasy, of dreams and nightmares.
A modern fairy tale, the very vivid imaginary contours unlimited. A candid story of love and intrigue filled with chimeras and labyrinths in pages incredible, forever filled with the most exquisite descriptions I've read.
A must read.
