एक भरे-पूरे होटल में दिन-दहाड़े एक नौजवान की गोली मारकर हत्या कर दी गई । होटल में मौजूद अनेकों चश्मदीद गवाहों के बावजूद भी अगले दिन समाचार छपा कि होटल मालिक ने अदम्य साहस दिखाते हुए एक डकैत को मार गिराया था । लेकिन ये शायद कातिल का दुर्भाग्य ही था कि उन गवाहों में एक ब्लास्ट का रिपोर्टर सुनील भी था ।

सुनील सीरीज़ की तीसरी किताब!
कहानी की मूल सेटिंग पेरी मेसन की नॉवेल से ली गई है, बाकी पाठक जी ने बदलाव कर दिये है।
नाम है होटेल मे खून लेकिन सुनील इस किताब मे हॉटेल मे हुए कत्ल की तहक़ीक़ात नही करता है। असली कत्ल और उसका रहस्य किताब के 40% होने के बाद शुरू होता है। ऐसे मे यदि आप बेसब्र किस्म है जो फौरन सब एक्शन शुरू होते हुए देखना पसंद करते है, तो चिंता की जरूरत नही, शुरुआत से लेकर असली मर्डर मिस्ट्री तक कहानी तेज़ तरार और एक्शन पैक्ड बनी रहती है।
उपन्यास छोटा है और इसे 1 दिन मे ही पढ़ा जा सकता है। यह पिछली किताब की तरह एक हुडनइट नही है, बल्कि यह पारंपरिक मर्डर मिस्ट्री भी नही है, जहाँ पाठक को सभी सस्पेक्ट के बारे मे पता होता है और उन्ही मे से कातिल का पता लगाना होता है। यहाँ तो तो बस एक रैंडम किरदार डाल दिया गया जिसके अस्तित्व के बारे मे हमे पुस्तक के आखिरी 15% से 10% हिस्से मे ही पता चलता है।
अगर पहली 2 किताबो की बात करूँ, तो वह मुझे इससे ज्यादा मनोरंजक लगे थे। इस किताब मे लगा मे ऐसा लगा कि सुनील के लिए चीज़े बेहद आसान थी। भागने के लिए उसे एक मोटरसाइकिल खड़ी मिल गई थी जो लॉक भी नही थी। ऐसा होने की संभावना है, लेकिन वह बहुत कम होता है।
प्लॉट होल की बात करूँ तो वह यह है कि एक भरी पार्टी मे गोली चलती है, लेकिन उसकी आवाज़ किसी को सुनाई नही देती, जैसे सब बहरे थे। गोली की चलने की आवाज़ से कातिल का पता बड़े आसानी से चल जाता। साइलेंसर का कोई ज़िक्र ही नही था और साइलेंसर भी पूरी तरह से आवाज़ को दबाता नही है। पाठक जी ने जानबूझकर यह जानकारी छुपाई ताकि पाठको का ध्यान इस और न जाएँ और मर्डर का रहस्य जटिल हो जाएँ।
किताब मे फिंगरप्रिंट की बात कही गई है सो उस समय तक भारत मे यह तकनीक आ गई थी। पुलिस को रिवाल्वर से सुनील के फिंगरप्रिंट मिलते है, लेकिन हत्या वाले कमरे मे जहाँ उसने हर जगह हाथ लगा रखे थे, लेकिन पुलिस कमरे मे फिंगरप्रिंट के होने का कोई ज़िक्र नही करती। जबकि सुनील चालाकी से बयानों को बदलवा देता है कि वह उस पार्टी मे आया ही नही था। पर यदि कमरे से फिंगरप्रिंट लिए होते, तो सुनील बचकर निकल ही नही पाता था। यहाँ भी पाठक जी ने यह बात या तो जानबूझकर छुपाई या उन्हें सूझी नही।
संक्षेप मे कहूँ तो यह एक ऐसा उपन्यास है, जो SMP के फैन्स को पसंद आएंगा ही, लेकिन अगर आपको एक बढ़िया मर्डर मिस्ट्री चाहिए, तो यह वह उपन्यास नही है।

This is a good adaption of Perry Mason's The Case of the Hesitant Hostess by Erle Stanley Gardner.
The premise of this story is alright. Its more of Sunil's fight for justice, than a murder mystery, because you hardly are given clues to solve the murder, all you know is that the real murderer is different than the ones given in the book. You just find out who the murderer is in the end.
This would have been a better story if it was completely adapted instead of loosly. The Original story has taken that angle about justice in much better way than in this novel. There Perry Mason's character shine brightly, here Sunil hardly get a spotlight. That story has a good whodunit line of story too, where you are given clues that help you to guess who might be the real killer, and it also has a very emotionally satisfying ending. Whats more, that story could easily be fit into Sunil's settings. SMP is expert in that, he has done that in so many novels!
Well, its not a bad novel as few other, but it is not as great a Sunil novel generally is. But the money is not wasted, you can still nJoy it.

Ye novel sunil series ka lagta hi nahi hai.ye thriller ki tarah shuruat hota aage chal kar whodunit mein parivartit hota hai par itna kafi nahi tha
Ab tak pathak ji ne sudhir aur jeet singh ko nahi gadha tha varan iska idea jeet singh ke novel jaisa hi hai
Sunil is setting mein fit nahi baitha hai
Yanha toh katil bhi Sunil nahi pakdta bas randomly samne aa jata hai
Sunil apni Pichhle 2 novel ki tarah case mein fanshta hai plus pahli baar girftaar Hokar lockup mein band ho jata hai.woh bhi carol ke ijjat lutne ke sting se.

Hotel Mein Khoon (Murder in the Hotel) has an unconventional structure in that it starts off as a thriller and turns into a mystery roughly around the midway stage.
Sunil Chakravarty, crime reporter at popular daily Blast goes to hotel Jewel Box hoping to find out the location of a casino which is said to be in the hotel premises, but one which neither the police, nor press reporters have managed to locate hitherto. He looks like making headway into the search when an bleeding youngster comes barging into the ball room and threatens hotel owner Mike with dire consequences unless he returns the money that he lost in the casino. Mike shoots the young man to death.
Sunil reports the incident as he saw it, only to find himself isolated, as all other daily newspapers twist the facts to make it look like an attempt at self-defense. Worse still, Mike's hoodlums men turn up at Sunil's doorstep to bump him off.
Things take a turn for the worse when Mike himself is murdered under circumstances that point to Sunil being the murderer. The incorruptible Inspector Prabhudayal, with whom Sunil has a relationship bordering on outright enmity, is out to get him.
Armed with only his wits and the support of his close friend Ramakant Malhotra and his colleague Pramila, Sunil has to overcome the police as well as the people around Mike- who stand to gain substantially from his death- and unmask the real criminal if only to save his own skin.
Penned in 1965, Hotel Mein Khoon was only Pathak's third novel in an era when Hindi crime fiction writers frequently churned out three to four novels a month. The novel frequently comes across as a hurriedly penned work by a youthful writer still finding his feet (Surendra Mohan Pathak was just 25 at the time).
This novel has unmistakable signs of the greatness that Pathak would attain in later years. The story moves at a rapid pace, never slackening even for a moment. From first page to last, Pathak never lets you get bored. Despite the somewhat simplistic plot and an underwhelming end, Hotel Mein Khoon is unquestionably a gripping page turner- definitely worth a one time read.

लेकिन बाद में क़त्ल को दुर्घटना करार दिया गया।
सुनील की आवाज को नक्कारखाने में तूती की आवाज की तरह लिया गया।
लेकिन जब बलास्ट से सुनील ने सत्य की गर्जना की तो राजनगर के कई लोग थर्राने लगे।
सुनील को मारा गया-पीटा गया, यहाँ तक हत्या की कोशिश की गयी लेकिन सुनील टस से मस नहीं हुआ सच्चाई के लिए|
आगे पाठक साहब के कमाल से सुनील एक क़त्ल के सस्पेक्ट के रूप में उभरता है, और ऐसा उभरता है की प्रभुदयाल उसके नाम का गिरफ्तारी का वारंट निकलवाने की कोशिश करने लग जाता है।
लेकिन सुनील भाई मुल्तानी ने आखिरकार अपने जादुई तर्कबुद्धि और तथ्यों को जोड़ जोड़कर स्वयं को तो बचाया ही बचाया

Very Nicely written novel by the writer. Suspense is maintained till the end of novel. One cannot left till the end of the story. Good one.
