Tradrych Strain #1

Breeder; Planet Athion

Rate this book

Prisoner on an alien planet, I have only one role - to birth their spawn.

Sent in a worldwide asteroid strike, the alien race, the Trads, sneaked onto Earth to steal women away to repopulate their own planet.

I, Tara Chase, am one of those women.

I believed my lover to be a gorgeous human man, only to be shown the most terrible of truths...

He’s anything but.

Now I’m on his planet of Tradrych, and after a three month stint in cryostasis, I’ve woken to find myself a prisoner on the verge of birthing his child.

And I’m not the only one.

I share the facility with numerous other women, all close to giving birth. The aliens who tend to us look like handsome demons, with scales, horns and even a tail. There are multiple Trads to every human woman, and I know once this baby is out of me, I’ll be handed back to them to impregnate again. I see the way the Trad males working at the facility look at me—with hunger in their flame-filled eyes.

When the time comes for us women to give birth to the aliens inside us, we’re taken away and never seen again.

My time is close now, but I won’t give up without a fight.

This is a dark sci-fi romance and is reverse harem. It is also part of the Planet Athion multi-author reverse harem sci-fi world.

I picked this book up because it was sitting in my Kindle and I was looking for a sci-fi/ alien RH type of book. I wanted something fun and quick and with that cover, I fully expected to get a smutty book. Well, guess what? I was wrong. Well I mean there was a really short scene at the end but by then I didn't give a sh*t. ;)

The writing wasn't very good. Everything felt ridiculous and came out of nowhere and I just couldn't believe any of it. I could have forgiven these things if the chemistry was good but I felt nothing. It didn't help that the reason that they helped her getting out and no one else (at least at first) was that she was "different" from other women and smart & courageous (when they knew nothing about her and never talked to her...)

>Possible spoilers ahead<

Basically, this book is about a young blonde woman who gets kidnapped by an alien who tricked her back on Earth and now when she wakes up on their planet or whatever, she's pregnant with an alien baby. She's kept prisoner with a bunch of women in the same state as her until the birth of the baby. They don't know what happens to the women after that.

That's when some aliens comes in and "save the day" because, of course, they're part of a rebellion. They take her from that place during a storm and when they escape she's starting to give birth so they go to a veterinarian for her to deliver the baby. The woman (I don't even remember her name) decides she doesn't want anything to do with "it" and tells them to take it back to the father. She gets a magical serum that heals her immediately and hop, she's back on the road to meet the rebellion with strange aliens she knows nothing about. Once there, their leader send her on a mission to infiltrate some important guy to steal from and she has to do that by being sold to him...

>end of spoilers<

Was it a good book? No.
Was it fun or enjoyable? Not really.
Did I keep reading until the end? Yes.
Did it give me what I was looking for? Nope.
Will I keep reading this series? I don't think so.

I read a lot of sci-fi romance and have read many of this authors books.

Breeder is a dark tale of a planet that needs women to repopulate their planet and doesn't care how they get them. Tara is caught in the middle of their plans.

The descriptions of how these women are treated is really heartbreaking. It gets really dark in tone at first but it changes as the story goes along and you really see her strength at the end.

I liked that things were not just black and white but more gray in many cases and you could see the characters really have a hard time with some of their choices.

I am voluntarily reviewing a copy I received.

MINOR SPOILERS THROUGHOUT:
I really liked this book. The world and the alien races in it were really unique. I was really interested in finding out more about the different types of aliens and their histories, which I’m hoping to learn more about in the next book.

My main complaint with this book would have to be that it felt kind of insta-lovey. Tara has gone through so much and she went from absolutely hating the Tradrychs to being in a sexual relationship with two (maybe three?) of them very quickly. I’m not mad about how it turned out, I just wish there could have been some more development there.

Overall, I really enjoyed this book and I will be continuing the series. This book also got me interested in the Planet Athion books as a whole, so I might check those out as well.

Tara was taken by the Trads in Their Invasion: Planet Athion series (Darkest Skies: Book One) by the same author and this is her story.
A prisoner on the planet Tradrych and only days away from giving birth to an alien baby, Tara has no idea what her future holds. But she’s certain it’s nothing good.
I loved this addition to the fantastic Planet Athion shared world Sci-fi Romance series. I’m loving getting to know the Trads in all their horned, scaled, and tailed glory. Yum! It’s a bit repetitive in places but the storyline and characters are great. It’s an exciting read that you won’t want to miss! I can’t wait for more.

Nice Idea, Okay Execution of It

Overall, not bad but not too exciting either.

The ending didn’t feel like a natural stopping place. Even in series, each book should have an identifiable arc. Spoiler Alert: Here, the main character escapes at the end but there is no character growth or real change.

I think this book took the “start in the middle of the action” suggestion a bit too literally. I would’ve liked to see her being taken before waking up months later.

My main problem with it was it tells every single movement the character makes. Lots of walking to the next location and lifting things to her lips rather than just focusing on the important stuff.

Found myself skipping a lot due to over explaining.

Tara's Story
Tara Chase was impregnated and kidnapped by Rhett, (Rhetarz), a Tradrych who was disguised as a human solider, that she met at the Observatory, she was sheltering at after his people attacked and invaded Earth. Trapped in the birthing ring with women just like her, she waits for the birth of her child. Fearing what will happen to her next, as none of the women that have given birth have returned.
Rhett torments her. While two other Trads, Nad and Miko quietly offer comfort. When a dust storm knocks out power, Nad and Miko quietly remove Tara from her pod and get her to safety. Not all Trads like what their people have done to the human women. A resistance has formed. Nad and Miko along with Diarus, and Athion working under cover, are part of it.
Tara is developing feeling for all three men. She is also attracted to Aleksy, the leader of the resistance. She is determined to help rescue the other imprisoned women. The resistance needs information on the other birthing rings and brothels. Tara and Diarus are going undercover together to get it.
Great start to Tara's story. Like Nad, Miko, Diarus and Aleksy. Story ends in a predictable cliffhanger. Can't wait for the next book.

I read a lot of romance novels from sweet and innocent to dark and intense. This book was a short, quick read about a young woman who was kidnapped from Earth, specifically to be a breeder the Tradrych race. Impregnated and near the time of the delivery, Tara wakes to learn that she is a prisoner along with near 50 other women, all abducted from Earth. This is a reverse harem tale, but no real action takes place until almost the end of the book, and this is just to set it up for the next book....Bait.
It might be an ok series. I am actually okay with a series, done well, where the plot flows from Book to book, but with a stand alone result for each book of the series. And I really hate when an author does a short book, with a cliff hanger, to get you to purchase the next book in order to learn what happens to the couple, or in this case harem. Generally, unless I really love that writer, I call it quits. It is principle for me. I don't like greed, and there are too many other great books out there to read.

Seriously? These fantastic guys choose her because she is so nice?
I could clearly see through the plot holes of that one. The author needs to work on the believe factor of the whole thing.
For example, we have to read about every single insignificant moment of their day to day activities but it has never been mentioned the need for toilet. They are all pregnant women, with no underwear and none of them complains to have to get up to pee every ten minutes? No bach ache? Swollen feet? It does not feel like pregnancy at all.
She gets locked in a room for 24 hours at least, no toilet, yet she is given food?
And then the guys choose her because.... well because they had to don't they? Otherwise what book would that be? *facepalm*
She gives birth and hands it over to the rapist father because it will be taken care of?
Ridiculous reasoning and then suddenly she is so dumb brave to offer herself to become a spy for the resistance. Oh my.
Will not read more.

Part one in this series

This seems to be a good start to a reverse harem series. A word of warning though, it is not a stand-alone book. The ending leads into the next book involving the same leading characters. This book is interesting and I will be checking out the next book.
Tara is one of many human women impregnated and taken to a new planet. The women on this planet have either died or became infertile due to a virus. She is kept in a birthing facility. She hates the alien who got her pregnant. She is confused when a couple of the alien men have moments they seem to help her then turn around and are cold hearted like all of the others. What is happening? Can she do anything to help the other women? What about the baby she is forced to carry?

I thought the author did an excellent job of creating a new and fascinating world which had a dark tone. The main character is an unwitting victim to alien trafficking of women in this unusual book. I've read where the women knowningly sign up to be brides for aliens and this is not that book. The women are treated horribly - basically human incubators for alien children. I loved her fiestiness. I loved that she wouldn't go down without a fight. I was surprised at the storyline but it was fascinating as well as mesmerizing and I couldn't wait to see if the women would be the victors. Intresting

When Tera awakes she finds herself in a small cell with other woman on a planet called Trands. Pregnant, tricked , far from home on another planet she must find a way to remain positive and not allowed herself to forget who she is and find a way to escape and remain sane. All the while her capture are using her body for their own agenda.
This book, the author has written, has many question that will be need to be answered by Tera, will she have the strength to survive her harsh new reality. I find it a interesting read and concept.

Not too shabby

Enjoyed this book. There’s aliens and it’s a bit dark, so if you don’t enjoy aliens impregnating and kidnapping women from earth, this book is not for you. If you do enjoy it, then this’ll be right up your alley. Oh, did I forget to mention that these aliens have tails? And they know how to use them in the best of ways, if you catch my drift (though said tail usage is not until the end of the book; I have my fingers crossed for much more in book 2). This is not a stand-alone and does end on a little cliffy as our girl heads out to the slave trade.

Unsure

I was looking for a book that started off with being bred but then it just didn’t go the way I wanted it to. Which isn’t to say you wouldn’t like it. Not much action just a lot of fluff. I assume the next book(s) will have more but I just can’t continue. Main FC is traumatized so the author is writing how she thinks someone would behave in the situation and I just don’t agree. FC seems kinda whiny and wishy washy. I was ok with the main MCs. I would have continued the series for them if I could.

So I uhhh read it and.... this should not be a series, this should have been one single book. The plot was fairly decent, a lot of plot errors though. Like a lot. Like the author made some of the characters for one thing and then changed her mind and decided to have them do another, opposite thing instead despite having the first thing well established already.

It was just.... it wasnt horrible but it certainly wasnt good either. But the worst part is I have to read the second because the first felt super incomplete. Not looking forward to it

Head the warning of this may contain possible for triggers for some. It is the story of many human woman that are abducted and impregnated by aliens only to wake up and realized they are chained in cells and are about to give birth. It may contain some sensitive topics for some but is realistic to the story. This is part 1 as the next phase of her story comes in the next book but doesn’t end in a terrible cliffhanger.

There are some triggers in this short story so please read the blurb carefully. It also ends on a bit of a cliffhanger. The story is a good one and I think this is a great start to a new series, I can’t wait for book 2 to see what happens next. This story is very well written and is so easy to get in to, only takes a couple of hours to read so perfect for a short relaxing break.

First let me state that I received an Advance Reader Copy, (ARC), but this in no way influences my review. I always leave an honest review.

Wow, what a gr8 story. Tara is kidnapped & impregnated by aliens, and is facing an uncertain future. The hell she goes through would make most women give up, but not her. This is a gr8 beginning of a new series. I look forward to reading the next book. I recommend this read. 5 Thumbs up

This series takes off from the Planet Athion series. Now we find out what happened to the human women that were taken from earth. All were impregnated but did they survive. The story follows one of these women. I really liked her character. She will do what she can to survive but she will also stop at nothing to help save the other women. She’ll find some unexpected help but it will still be hard and painful. This is a cliffhanger.

An intriguing story.....

This is the first book by Marissa Farrar that I have read and it won’t be the last....
This book has started out different than I would have thought with Tara waking up already impregnated, kidnapped by the Tradrych’s awaiting the birth but the story gets more intriguing as you read on becoming more of a spy thriller with romance on the side....great read..

This was a pretty well done aliens abduction story. While it did start off pretty cheesy, it quickly morphed into a much more serious story with themes that are strongly echoed in recent events. It is a quick read, but quite a lot happens in a very short period of time. Very well done, and thank you for the opportunity to review this gem!

Talk about exciting and fast paced! This book is about a human taken by aliens, impregnated and then rescued by rebels. The book does end on a cliffhanger and if your preggo, you may want to use caution reading (this book hits a ton of pregnancy triggers).

I'm excited to see what happens in the next book!

The inconsistencies spoil The story a little

Three is a cliff hangar, and our girl Tara find herself pregnant and captive in an alien planet. She is able to escape, but three are plenty of open plot points still needing to be tied up. The aliens to from using earth slang, to not knowing it, to using it again. That was a bit annoying.

Help!

Aw! All aliens are not monsters, all aliens are not monsters, are they? The characters are awesome cruel aliens, captive Earth women, impregnated, tortured, an alien slave, and rebel aliens(the good guys). You feel their terror, anguish, and pain, they are to give birth, give up the baby, and be bred again, no hope, no escape, no relief. Please someone help!

Just the start of a series.

I'm usually pretty big on having an HEA at the end of each book but I've found myself sucked more and more into series. This is slow burn you get a lot of world and circumstance building. But it's GOLD. I'm invested in this series and... Dare I say it the hot and steamy alien menage... It's just icing on a delicious plot cupcake.

Great start to the series

First time reading Farrar stories. Interesting start with the breeder's point of view. Living in her sandals as a captive womb.
It got a little tedious how Tara rehashed the same thoughts ver and over. Was that to show her boredom or captive state?
Good description of the aliens and their plight, rebels and plans.
