Highly overrated, typically overpriced, and in general rather mediocre to anyone with any depth of knowledge concerning Vodou or the occult.

As I have expressed in prior reviews, due to time constraints and declining eyesight, I experienced this title as an audiobook rather than reading it from the printed page. As a result, I couldn't view the veve frequently mentioned in the text and which I assume are illustrations included in the print text and ebook (without which the rituals will be impossible to perform). The audiobook narration was read by ai, and was less than perfect, reading some passages out of sequence, mispronouncing common vodoun terminology, reading punctuation, etc., which at times made the narration rather challenging to follow. I plan to acquire the ebook, upon reading which I may improve my rating of this title, assuming the problems that plague the audiobook will not be present in the text.

I, unfortunately, had to give up on this book at 90/192 and add it to my DNF. While the first 50 pages are very informative about Vodoun, the practices and people and culture surrounding it and some terminology that everyone should know, anything after that was strictly related to practicing it. Because I am not of that culture, nor am I involved or initiated, I felt a little weird continuing. I didn't feel right consuming that sort of information when I wasn't going to put it into practice, and now, I'm not sure I really vibe with the book existing anyways.
If you want some good info about vodoun? Read up to Chapter 5. Everything past that is for practicing knowledge.

best author and black magician, great book
This is by far the best no nonsense, book on Vodou, the author explains clearly why you can do Vodou no matter your ethnical background, and it tells you how as well

It was a good book about Vodoun. I enjoyed it even though Vodoun is not for me, as I am much more into Eastern and Egyptian Mysticism.
