Brenda Jackson alway delivers a solid story. This one was shorter than her usual books but still featured an entertaining story.

Pete Higgins was raising his niece Ciara since his brother died in a car accident along with his sister in law. As a sheriff, Pete worked long hours and needed help so He hired Myra Hollister to be the baby’s nanny. From the start, sparks flew between those two but they were grappling with unfinished business from their past. In this book, Pete and Myra has to confront

I'm so new to this series and considering that I read the fifth book first... well, that was a new thing for me and my reading. A steamy romance featuring Pete Higgins, a sheriff who has just gotten custody of his niece and the nanny that he hires to help look after her called Myra. Their growing attractions that both of them try to hide and deny, but as weeks past, feelings keep getting stronger. The ending felt a little crazy when a side character got

Pete is a Sheriff who finds himself the guardian of his infant niece Ciara after his brother and sister in-law pass away. When his nanny has to spend a few months with her sister who is ill he finds himself in need of a nanny and Myra credentials are perfect but his attraction to her isn’t.

Myra needs to keep a low profile in the hopes that her family won’t track her down until it is time for her to return to her hometown. The opportunity to be Ciara’s nanny seems like the perfect solution, but
Lots of crazy secrets in this one! Who would believe that Myra will be the CEO of her late father's Company in a couple of months if her lunatic 1/2 brother doesn't kidnap her first.
So in the meantime she is hiding out in Colorado until she turns 25 and can receive her inheritance.
When Myra applies to be Sheriff's Pete Higgin's live in nanny, for his toddler niece, Pete is so shook by Myra's beauty and kindness that he turns her down. I laughed so hard at this big old lawman getting caught up

it was cute - short and sweet. i would have preferred a longer, more dramatic love story just to be more interesting but this was okay too

Brenda Jackson’s Westmoreland men are back with another scintillating and sensuous romantic adventure guaranteed to make temperatures hit the roof – even in winter! In Duty or Desire, honorary Westmoreland Pete Higgins finds himself tempted by a woman with plenty of dangerous secrets: Myra Hollister.

After the tragic end of his last serious relationship, Pete Higgins had vowed to keep his heart firmly under lock and key and to consign relationships to the past. Peter had met the love of his life

My thanks to Goodreads and Harlequin for the chance to read an early copy and provide an honest review.

I've heard amazing things about Brenda Jackson, who is famous in Romancelandia for her prolific output (can you believe she wrote her 100th book in 2013 and is still going strong?, and was excited to have a chance to read a copy of her latest. Unfortunately, I think the Harlequin Desire line just isn't my thing and the medium affected my enjoyment of

Honorary Westmoreland sheriff Pete Higgins has been knocked off his feet twice in a short period of time. After he receives custody of his niece Ciara due to the death of his brother, he hires his beautiful, younger nanny, Myra. Myra is temporarily hiding out in Denver to grieve the loss of her parents and to await her 25th birthday when she will inherit her company per the conditions of her parents will. The company was maliciously taken over by her brother Baron who feels that the company

Why choose when you can embrace both duty and desire?

Denver's very handsome, very single Sheriff has his equilibrium rocked twice in the space of five months! First he assumed custody of his deceased brother and sister-in-law's infant child. Fast forward five months and a beautiful young woman jump starts his heart that has been frozen over for at least twelve years when she applies for the job of Nanny! Delectably delicious! With DUTY OR DESIRE (the fifth book in The Westmoreland Legacy series) Brenda Jackson brings us the ultimate of heroes ... he's a lawman, he's loyal, he's ruggedly handsome ... and he simply melted this readers heart!

Sheriff Pete Higgins is an attention grabbing character. He's strong and fierce in his love and protection for those he cares about, but he's easily soft and tender when showering love on his infant niece. He was easy to like, enjoyable and heartwarming.

Thank you to NetGalley and Harlequin Romance (U.S. & Canada) and HQN for the advance reader copy, Duty or Desire by exciting romance author, Brenda Jackson, in exchange for an honest review. I enjoyed this 5th book in the Westmoreland Legacy series (I have read 1 other in the series and boy do I love those Westmoreland men!). I fell in love with Sheriff Pete Higgins, an honorary Westmoreland, as he struggles with his scruples. He is honest, upright, but still grieving over his dead fiancée, ...more

Who are Bonnie, Pete, and Kyra? How do they know one another? Why does Bonnie ask Myra to lunch? Who is Baron? Why is he so disliked? What happens when Wallace calls Myra? I like Bonnie a lot. She and Myra both seem to like Cirara and Ciara likes them right back! Who is she? Who is Flipper and how does he know Bane Westmoreland? What does Flipper do that keeps Pete from having to get up every 20 minutes? I had a really deep belly laugh when I read about that one!!! I had to chuckle about the ...more

Duty, desire, secrets, passion, and love

This story has all of the above. Another well told story from the amazing Brenda Jackson. Myra and Peterson's story reminded me of the tv show The Nanny, and I loved that show. Hhired to take care of the sheriff's young niece the attraction between the two was immediate and they both fought it as long as the could. Even though he was only mentioned and didn't have an actual presence in the book I liked Wallace as Myra's protector and surrogate big brother.

Pete Higgins and Myra Hollister have all the boxes checked making them both perfect candidates in their careers. With all his skills in protection, this endearing hero had no defense strategy against the confident and beautiful Myra when it came to matters of the heart.

During the interview for Nanny, there was no denying the intensity of their chemistry, but for various reasons they were both determined to try.

I enjoyed the banter between them and the revisit with the Westmoreland clans, but it

Protective Love

I think that Miss Bonnie knew that Pete would be attracted to Myra when she suggested that he hire her because she wanted him to open his heart up to love again and to live instead of just existing. I knew Pete and Myra were going to fall in love because they felt things for each other that that hadn't never felt with anyone else. I'm glad that Pete found out about the plans that Baron, Charlene and several of Baron’s friends had schemed up against Myra and used the necessary

This was a very good romance story and I would and will recommend this book by Brenda Jackson. I will definitely watch for books in this Westmoreland Legacy series. Since there are 5 books already in this series I need to find them all to catch up.
The relationship that develops with Pete and Myra is pleasing to read as well as both of their interactions with Pete’s niece who he now has custody of.

Pete Higgins is an honorary Westmoreland who takes over custody of his orphaned niece. He needs to hire a temporary nanny and finds himself tempted by a much younger Myra Hollister. They both assure each other that they have nothing to worry about -- since both say that they are not each other's type. But time will prove them wrong. But will keeping dangerous secrets jeopardize newly established feelings?

The Duty of Desire

Duty or Desire brings Peterson Higgins, friend of the Westmorelands, onto center stage. left with his orphaned niece Ciara, Pete is in need of a temporary nanny when his nanny Bonnie's sister becomes ill. The beautiful Myra is hired for the job, and not only takes excellent care of Ciara, but captures Pete 's heart as well! Want to know how? Read the book!!! Another excellent Brenda Jackson creation!

Duty or Desire has heat oozing off the pages. If I didn't already have a thing for cowboys, I do now! Pete is strong and sexy in all the right ways - and Myra is beautiful, strong, and confident. Together they make a fire that'll keep you warm through the coldest days of winter. I have to admit I couldn't put this one down. So grab your favorite bottle of wine and curl up for a wild ride that's both sweet and sensuous.

Not one of her best books

I've been reading Brenda Jackson's westmoreland series books for some time now and I started reading her westmoreland legacy books they were ok but this one I did not like at all her characters are starting to become interchangeable to me thus the one star.

This book was so good . It’s a step up from her last few Westmoreland adjacent books, and I’m thrilled for that.

Pete and Myra got all the angst going on that sets up the drama sizzle and hea . The supporting characters as always were a plus to the story.

I enjoyed this book and think you will as well.

Mr Lawman and the Nanny

Another Westmoreland family friend, Pete is a sexy sheriff who hires a young nanny to care for his niece but only temporarily. The sheriff is broken-hearted but the nanny helps help his heart. The sheriff and the nanny enter into a “sex-only” relationship that burns the sheets up! Highly recommend this one it’s very good!

Sheriff and the Nanny.

Beautiful story. I liked the way the couple embraced their attraction to each other. And re
Really enjoyed the inclusion of the Westmoreland 's and Outlaws. Cannot wait to read the next 3 books. Another winner Mrs. Jackson. In fact, this book made me want to re-read "Whispered promises." I don't know why, but Pete reminded me of Dex and Caitlin.

Pete is an officer of the law who is determined never to fall in love again. Myra is a nanny-whisperer who needs a temporary place to stay. She moves into Pete's home to care for his niece but gains so much more. Pete and Myra's relationship developed over time where they each had to shed issues from the past to hold onto love. I found Book #5 a good read. Thank you, Netgalley.

Worth the Read

I’d stopped reading Ms. Jackson’s books. They’d become too formulaic. Lately, it seemed she just changed the characters’ names and some if the places. Even the steamy parts seemed to be cut and pasted from book to book. Not so with this book.
This was a sweet and at times funny story. The H and h were lovable and engaging.

Another story in the Westmoreland series. Pretty standard romance in the usual story by Brenda Jackson. Straightforward and fun to read. If you're a fan of the author's work, you'll like this one too.

I received a free ARC eBook from Net Galley and the publisher in exchange for my honest opinions.
