I started off the new year in listening to the audiobook. It was a great way to be reminded of God's goodness.

This is not going to be one of my normal book reviews because this was not a normal book. This was a book that God brought along just when I needed it. I’m twenty-nine years old and my life is nothing like I thought it would be at this point. That isn’t to say I don’t love my life. I am so grateful for where I am and what God has allowed me to do. However, though the spirit is

Nancy Leigh DeMoss Wolgemuth is my modern day patron saint. Her books and Bible studies line the shelves of my hall of faith, and her podcast is my go-to for edification and encouragement at the end of my day. Two of the dear friends--twins!--and fellow teachers I met during my year of international work in Turkey bonded with me over Nancy, the video of Nancy’s wedding of Unexpected Grace was to us like the royal weddings of Will and Kate! So you can imagine my delight when I discovered their ...more

Over the course of my life, I have seen the Lord work miracles and grant His deep peace in the midst of my hardest years, when layer upon layer of unexpected trials have come to take my breath away. Even over the past month, while reading You Can Trust God To Write Your Story, I have heard an unusual number of gut-wrenching, heartbreaking circumstances. In the midst of these people’s unimaginable pain, I have seen many displays of beautiful faith in the perfect character of God.

Trust. Oh, how often I say I trust God. That He is sovereign, He loves me, and He will cause all things to work together for good. Yet, when a little pressure and uncertainty comes my way, the anxiousness sets in. And then the need to plan, plot, and take control sets in. Then the questions come – what is God doing? Does God love me? How is this for my good? And then time and time again, God shows that He is faithful. I’m guessing since seasoned bible teachers like Nancy DeMoss Wolgemuth and ...more

Robert and Nancy have a story to tell. And while they could have written a book all about their journey over the last five years, they chose to use it as a way to tell many stories and the grandest Story of all. It is organized nicely and can speak to any situation you or I may be facing. It’s a great idea and full of truth.

However (you could tell that was coming, right?), I found the stories and their resolutions just a little too simple and easy. The tone of the writing just made the hard

"Only He fully knows why He does what He does." This quote from the book conveys the overall message of the book. We will not always or even often understand what God is doing in our lives and this book is such an encouraging reminder that we do not have to understand, we simply have to trust. He is absolutely in control of everything that happens in our lives and for that we must be thankful. Robert & Nancy share personal stories and interviews of people who have been through and continue ...more

Nancy DeMoss Wolgemuth and husband Robert D. Wolgemuth tackle issues of God's providence in their book, "You Can Trust God to Write Your Story." They begin by identifying the elements of a good story, and then relate them to our own life stories. They also try to help readers see that their own stories do matter. Relying on their own love story and the stories of countless others walking through all kinds of trials and difficulties, the Wolgemuths show how God's hand is at work, even if we can't ...more

Stories. They are all around us, and while we each possess our own unique story, they all have something in common. . . They are all part of the greatest story ever told - God’s story. With warmth and wisdom, husband-and-wife author team Robert Wolgemuth and Nancy DeMoss Wolgemuth help us embrace and believe that the title of their new book is true for us all: “You Can Trust God to Write Your Story: Embracing the Mysteries of Providence”.

I have long held to the idea that life is a story penned

Nancy and Robert Wolgemuth have teamed up to tell stories from their own lives, the personal accounts of friends, those of biblical characters (e.g., Esther, Naomi & Ruth, Joseph & Mary), and historical figures such as George Müller (160), John Bunyan (167, 169), and Andrew Murray (203-204). Every chapter then points forward to God’s greater story as the writers themselves claim, “Each of the stories in this book is part of a bigger, grander, eternal Story God is writing” (21). You Can Trust God to Write Your Story: Embracing the Mysteries of Providence
This book opens with a few words from Joni Eareckson Tada, a well known Christian quadriplegic. She learned to trust God to write her story, not at all one she would have written herself, but one she praises Him for now.

Both Robert Wolgemuth and Nancy DeMoss Wolgemuth have extensive backgrounds in writing, so it’s no surprise they should write a book about writing a story. First they cover the parts of a story,

Who doesn't love a good story? The characters are introduced, we come to love them, and ... Bam! Calamity. Conflict. Confusion. The waves of time and circumstance act to stand in the way of our hero. Will he succumb to the obstacles in his path? Or will he rise above to find his destiny? We hope, we cheer, and we find ourselves emotionally invested with each turning of the page. And in time, the hero begins to take on a life of his own.

I was excited to get this book because I really respect this author and have been blessed by her Bible studies and podcasts. It's a solid, good book that tells the stories of many people who have faced pretty difficult issues. Its power isn't in any one particular story, but the accumulation of the stories and the constant, book-long reminder that God knows what He is doing, is kind and good, and will not abandon our story in the middle. He'll bring it to a great conclusion, even if that is in ...more

Every life is a story. Your life is a good story because it is the story God has written. We may prefer to know the ending now but, in His wisdom, we get to see our story unfold and look back and see God's hand in every aspect of it. It may be hard to believe that God has included us in His story, but it is true. Everything that happens to us is for God's purpose. Nothing happens to us that surprises God.

I received an ARC of this book from Moody Publishers via NetGalley, this review is my personal opinion.

Life all do a journey, it has so many twists and turns. We all struggle with fears, some huge, big and maybe it could seem small. All those situations that in our eyes are impossible. How we can really trust God that in the end, it all will turn well?. In this book, Nancy DeMoss Wolmeught and her husband Robert did a wonderful job, by taking characters from the bible, story from their friends

This was a fantastic book! The stories that were told throughout the book were so encouraging. The last chapter, Chapter 16, is just what I needed for my life right now. 2019 hasn’t been a good year for me and my family. It has felt like things have come at us in all directions. As a Christian, this is the first time in my life that I have struggled with my faith in God like I have. This book changed everything for me. God is writing my story. I can trust Him as He does so. Whether it’s good or ...more

This book is amazing because it helps you to see that God has a plan for your life. This book is filled with stories about how God is sovereign and writes our story regardless of what it looks like. The authors share beautiful hard stories of things that they walked through. The authors say this in the book "What we see now is not the whole story if we could see what God sees and knows what he knows, our hearts would be at peace". They share that "We can trust him to write the story of those we ...more

When you begin a book, and the tribute page grips your soul, squeezing out instant grateful praise to God, you can be pretty sure you've got a gem in your hands. Such was my experience as I began to read, 'You Can Trust God With Your Story,' by Nancy DeMoss Wolgemuth and Robert Wolgemuth.

I read all sorts of Christian books, - especially Christian Living and Biblical Counseling type books. Many of these books faithfully remind me of things first taught in the Bible. Many bring conviction on one

Trust God to write your story is a beautiful blend of Theology and masterful storytelling. The mix of chapter topics makes this not only an encouraging read but a fabulous resource as the plot twists of life happen. There are chapters that highlight a different Bible character who trusted God with their story. Intertwined are chapters detailing trusting God in a specific valley of life (for example: when a loved one dies, or someone sins against you). I believe that this book will serve a a ...more

An accessible book laser-focused on a big theme: You and I can trust God. Robert and Nancy make this point from their own stories, from biblical stories, and from the stories of people they know and interview. They don't address all difficult situations you may encounter, of course, but they cover a lot and provide grounded encouragement as they do so.

Also, the audiobook is unlike any other co-authored book I've listened to as Robert and Nancy share the narration, bouncing back and forth

I loved this book. This is a such an encouraging message that we need to hear: God is writing our story. The stories that the authors share about their own lives and the others mentioned in this book are testimonies to the Lord’s grace through the happy and tragic things that are part of our life here in earth. We are never alone, and God walks besides each one of us for His glory and our ultimate good.

The authors do a great job switching back and forth in the chapters, and their writing styles

This book is filled with stories that illustrate the truth that you can indeed trust God with the plan He has for your life. In addition to telling their own stories, Robert and Nancy Wolgemuth tell the stories of many different individuals who have gone through difficult trials. There are chapters containing modern day stories as well as chapters telling the stories of biblical figures. It was encouraging to read about people who have faced hard challenges, yet trusted God through it all.

This book contains stories from people like you and me that have been through various trials that would make a person of faith potentially question or doubt God's plan for their lives. These people have all chosen to stand firm in their faith and inspired me to do the same. The overall message is that no matter what you are going through in life you can trust God to write your story (hence the title). It was a very enjoyable book to read and served as a great encouragement to me while I am going ...more

Through their own personal experiences, as well as interviews with others, and examples from the Holy Bible, Robert and Nancy Wogelmoth share inspiring stories that show us that even though sometimes we're unsure of why things are happening the way they are, God is still with us and is ordering our steps in the way he thinks is best and guiding our life's story.

Thanks to NetGalley and Moody Publishing for an ARC of this book. All thoughts and opinions are my own.

This is one of the best books I have read. The Wolgemuths have woven true stories, both present day and during biblical times, to show how God works in our lives in ways that we cannot always see and do not often understand.

All of us experience suffering and this book points us back to our one Hope.

The book is beautifully written, tough to swallow at times, but filled with so much hope that I can’t recommend it enough.

This book has been a needed reminder for me! God uses suffering, sometimes pain, things that He hates to accomplish what He loves - transformation of His children into Christlikeness and bringing glory to His Name! An engaging book to read filled with stories of people in today’s time and people in the pages of Scripture.

To be perfectly honest I’ve never really resonated much with Nancy’s writings. But this book is raw and real and beautiful. It was healing in many ways, as in it we are challenged to view God’s sovereignty as good, and rest in His design for our individual stories, and lean into rather than fight against what He brings us. So refreshing. Need to get it in print so I can underline it all!

A great and encouraging book. My favorite was the last chapter, rallying us as Christians to trust God with each chapter of our story. "When God puts us in the furnace, He always keeps His eye on the clock and His hand on the thermostat". We can trust that our wise and oh-so-loving Father has a bigger purpose than we can see or understand.

This book is wonderful! It was easy to read, but spiritually challenging. Modern stories are intermingled with Bible accounts which serves as a reminder that we serve the same miracle-working God as Ruth and Joseph. My faith was greatly strengthened. It’s a book I will share it’s others, and reread myself! I would recommend this book to everyone!
I received an arc of this book on netgalley in exchange for a honest review.

I did not particularly enjoy this book because I did not really connect with the stories and information given and I feel like it is book for a very specific niche of people.
