Drama, Angst, push and pull. You will be happy, and sad and will want to throw your kindle or book because you just want Haze to figure his stuff out! An addictive read.
“I told you I wasn’t done annoying you yet, Kingston.”
Unspoken rules is book 2 in the unwritten series. You need to read book 1 before reading this book. Haze and Winter... Waze. What can I say? I loved them in book one but wow they just came alive in book 2.
Haze, you just can’t help but fall for this deeply broken guy. His love for Winter shines through in book two and he is willing to make sacrifices and do anything to keep her safe. It’s fast paced with a lot going on, i was hooked. I read it in one sitting whilst angrily shouting at my kindle.
You will laugh, get frustrated and roll your eyes more times than I can count... but one thing I didn’t expect was to cry. This book was beautifully written and took me on a rollercoaster ride of emotions and I can’t wait to see joe Waze’s story ends in book 3.
Thank goodness this book picks up right where we left off after that massive cliffhanger from book 1! Winter is now in hiding to keep her safe from the street fighting gangs that are after her. Haze is supposed to stay away from Winter but is unable to fulfill that promise, he comes to realize how much he loves her and is unwilling to compromise on his feelings. He ends up going after her and whisking her away to his family’s lake house where together they hide from all the danger that surrounds them and their relationship. From there we follow their story as they realize the world may be against their love and they may be at odds with each other at times but their love is something neither of them can shake. It’s all consuming and life changing and there really is no going back for either of them even when they might wish otherwise.
Getting Haze’s backstory was literally everything! He has such a tragic past and finally getting to see him fully open up to Winter and share all of the crap he’s been through (and it’s A LOT of crap) was beautiful! There were definitely parts that had me crying because this poor kid has just been dragged through it and his family is the worst! He hasn’t felt love or support in years until Winter. Getting to see the events that shaped him into the person he is today really helps you to understand his character and what motivates him. Haze makes a lot of mistakes when it comes to his relationship with Winter but his love for her is so strong and pure that he refuses to give up on it/them. I loved watching Haze pursue Winter to the ends of the earth. He pushes himself outside of his comfort zone and really works on breaking down the walls he’s built up around himself and it’s all for her.
I’m so thankful for a character like Winter in a YA romance. She has such a strong sense of self and knows what she wants and what she deserves and refuses to settle for less. I think it’s so important for young girls to read about someone their age who won’t settle for casual and demands a commitment before getting physically involved. She refuses to let their chemistry and attraction get the best of them without the assurance that this isn’t a one time thing. She also doesn’t allow Haze to keep her closed out. She knows that the only way they can have a real relationship is for him to fully open up to her and tell her all the secrets that he’s holding back. Their relationship won’t work without trust and there can be no trust without first knowing the truth. I just really love that Winter stays steadfast in her beliefs throughout this novel.
It did take me a little longer to get fully immersed in this book but it was well worth the read. I feel that this book was really important for the characters development. Winter and especially Haze grow a lot as people throughout this book. Definitely excited to continue with their story and see what happens next. Greenwood has quite the talent of writing truly gripping endings that leave you dying to continue with her stories.
Also while book 1 was PG 13 I would say this book is PG 16/R....it gets pretty dang steamy!
Thank you Eliah Greenwood for sending me a copy of this book to review! Above is my honest opinion.
I absolutely LOVED LOVED LOVED Unspoken Rules. I devoured it in mere hours and it was by far one of my most anticipated reads of this year. Unspoken Rules definitely did not disappoint. The myriad of emotions I felt while reading the story made me feel like I was on a roller coaster with a wonderful ending. My heart broke several times for Haze, but I was so happy that we were finally able to learn so much about him and why he is the way he is. The banter between Winter and Haze was amazing and had me laughing out loud at some points. I fell in love with them even more than in Unwritten Rules. Waze is relationship goals. That cliffhanger at the end of the book though….AHHHHHH it definitely left me wanting the third book. Another job well done by Ms. Greenwood and I will anxiously be awaiting the next book!
Haze and Winter!! This book I could. It stop reading once I started!! Every page left me needing more!! The emotional roller coaster, the secrets, and the twist in Unspoken Rules made me need more and more!!
Haze is still that closed off untrusting person he was In Unwritten Rules, but he can admit he cares for Willow.
Winter wears her heart on her sleeve, no matter how much she doesn’t want to. She’s also caught in the middle of this underground, street fighting, gang war that she can’t seem to escape.
When Haze comes blazing back and drags her to the town where he grew up, Haze either has to deal with his past and let Winter in our he’ll push her away without even trying.
And let’s talk about Riley!! My heart hurt for Winter iso much in that moment. Everything she thought she had, she didn’t. Haze broke her heart without even blinking twice. When Winter walks out of that cabin with Kendrick it was the start of my crying. And when Haze figures out the truth, and realizes what he had done you can’t help but feel for him but at the same time want to say “I told you so”.
When Haze chases her I love she sticks to her ground, until she ready to give in. Let’s face it we all know she will.
And then there is good ‘Ol Tanner, what can we say about him? How about he’s a crazy psycho, and crazy psycho’s don’t change. And his big surprise I’m not sure how I didn’t see it coming but of course I didn’t.
When Haze choices Winter over everything, it’s like a doves singing kind of moment, but let’s be real he’s in a weird criminal street fighting gang they don’t just let you leave. And he’s made an enemy or two.
When Haze finally decides to tell Winter his secret my heart was just ripped open, and I cried like a baby. To have something like that happen is just unthinkable, and something that you can never forget. It brings a lot of things into perspective.
Winter leaving to go home to Canada was a sore spot for the couple, and I mean really if you think about it, why would they fight over that? After everything they went through? Prom night, the fight over this comes to a head. When Winter leaves and something bad happens to Winter Haze hears the attack on the phone.
And that cliffhanger and twist at the end is enough to make you beg for book three!! Book one was good, book two was amazing, if Eliah continues like this book three will blow is way!
I was fortunate enough to have received an ARC copy of this book and I’m so grateful that I was selected. I’ve never read a book that touched on just about every Single emotion. I laughed and cried , I was angry and then swooning at Haze and Winters relationship. A favorite quote of mine from the book was “ Love is both a blessing and a curse. It is both the best thing and the worst. When loving someone with all your heart. The higher you fly… The harder you fall.” This book was incredibly well written and grabbed my attention from the beginning all the way through the last page. Although let me tell you, the ending part of the book had many wtf moments that I just couldn’t even deal. There’s times when you read some books and it almost feels rushed , like you can tell they threw everything in at the end just to wrap it all up but not this book !! I was up til 4 am finishing the book and when it was done I was ready for more. Haze and Winter have this against all odds love / slow burn chemistry thing going on. It makes you feel like alright already just cross the line damn it and love each other properly !! I thoroughly enjoyed where Winter would call Haze on his sh*t and she would slip these zingers in response to his comments like “Oh, come on, what do you want from me, woman? I had no choice. I did it for your protection.” I scoff. “Ha, for my protection. Speaking of, I sure hope you used some with Bianca last month.” Yes !! Let him know girl ! This book gave Hazes back story and one part ripped my heart out. I literally sat there with tears steaming down my face. There were moments where I wanted to throw my phone because Winter’s “ignorance is bliss “ approach towards things always bit her in the ass and I was like really ?! Have you not learned a thing from book 1 ?! Lol. Oh but don’t get me wrong Haze had his moments too where I wanted to junk punch him for being a d bag about some circumstances or just oblivious to things unfolding around him. I can go on forever about how much I loved this book. Eliah’s writing is unparalleled. She’s wise beyond her years and I’d read anything she writes without question. I can’t wait for book 3 and I hope everyone loves this book as I have.
“I had no idea when I got into the car that night that it was the beginning of- “An Epic love story.”” 〰️ "I lost the fight. I lost her. But I don't care about my promise. I'm chasing that girl... again." Haze Adams and Winter Kingston were supposed to be a done deal. A onetime thing. The notorious street fighter had one goal and one goal only: make the girl fall in love, break her heart to hurt his enemies, and move on to the next best thing. Easy, right? Wrong. Turns out the next best thing doesn’t exist, and Haze is the one falling... hard. When he takes her to a lake house in a town filled with ghosts from his past, Winter dares hope that the unredeemable Haze Adams is changing his ways. He pushes, she pulls. Haze lets her in just to kick her out, yet Winter can’t seem to get him out of her system. As lingering touches and almost kisses multiply, Winter discovers that with blue-eyed bad boy comes baggage—a lot of it—and that baggage may or may not include a vicious ex, a dysfunctional family, and a massive secret that would scare any girl away. Winter has never been one to give up. But Haze’s intoxicating touch might just be the one thing she should quit. So, when the boy who could possibly destroy you pulls you in for a kiss… Do you stay and fight for love…? Or run? 〰️ Okay to say Im obsessed is an understatement. Haze’s love for Winter is EVERYTHING. He’s so unapologetic about his love for her and just constantly wants to show her the extent of her love in his own way. I love that he has so many skeletons in his closet but he ALWAYS choses her. Winter is such a great heroine, she knows her worth and shows Haze the unconditional love for him. My heart breaks for Haze though in this book. He has experienced so much loss and never really had any sort of love or peace in his life. Also, I hate Riley. I think my favorite part of the book though is Winters inner thoughts LOL homegirl is so freaking funny. The ending had me SHOOK. I cannot wait to see what happens in Book 3!
What can I say about this book other than it was absolutely beautiful. This book made me feel what I can only describe as connected; just as the previous book had done. Every word grabbed my attention and I felt connected to each character in a different way. Every detail is described perfectly and every emotion the character feels, you feel too. It almost reminded me of a modern day Romeo and Juliet, two lovers longing to be together but are faced with many obstacles that try to prevent it. You can see the work that Eliah put into every page which makes reading all the more worth while. This book is definitely a page turner with something new every chapter. I could not stop reading from the moment I picked it up and I without a doubt recommend this book.
I said it once and I’ll say it until I’m blue in the face, WINTER.IS.MY.SPIRIT.ANIMAL!!! That girl gives me life. There is absolutely nothing I will change about her. Her strength, her hardheadedness, her damn wit and dry sense of humor. I just adore her!
Unspoken Rules starts off exactly where Unwritten Rules ended and it is nonstop angst and suspense. Thank god for Amanda (@allaboutthatromance) because she literally suffered through all my emotional blow ups. 😂😩🤣
One word to summarize this book.... DRAAAAAMMMMMMAAAAAAAA No joke, it was drama overload. Unspoken rules was FULL of drama. When one situation resolved, another popped up pretty much straight away.
A few little plot holes here and there but Eliah did a good job of throwing in a few unexpected twists.
I honestly have no idea how to rate this book. If I am honest... its is probably a 2/3 star read. It was waaaay too much drama for me personally and it was too over the top drama. It was a struggle at times but I was determined to finish it. Don't get me wrong, Eliah is a great writer and I enjoy her writing style and the witty banter but the storyline was just not my cup of tea.
I first read the books when they were on Wattpad and I was beyond excited when I found out they were going to be published. The book was such an emotional rollercoaster that left you wanting to keep reading to find out what else would happen. The storyline is beyond amazing and such a good love story. But, although it is a love story, it teaches you to have self- respect and know when to walk away from a situation that is not in your control or causes you emotional distress. I highly recommend this book to any of you love struck lovers. Winter and Haze's story is surely a VERY good one.
This book is filled with so many emotions, it leaves you never wanting to put the book down. I was enthralled by this book and absolutely love the way it is written. The thing that enchanted me the most about this book was the amount of emotion it holds within it. There is so many emotions pulling you in different directions from; love, hurt, betrayal and passion. At times you want to pull you hair out but also continue to read the book. I love reading it and continuing the journey with Haze and Winter.
After reading and absolutely loving the first book (Unwritten Rules), I signed up for an advanced copy. Unspoken Rules does not disappoint, It’s gripping from the start and really well written. I won’t spoil it for any of you but it’s a must read. I’m so excited to find out what happens next for Winter and Haze. Thanks to Eliah Greenwood for including me in the arc team!
Beautiful. Amazing and so so creative. I spent days no hours reading this book and felt different waves of emotions consume me whole. I passed through different journeys and even had a point I wanted to be the main character! This book has deffo come a long way and I will just say that I’m here through it ALL.
Eliah is such a talented writer! This book was longer than the first but definitely still left me wanting more. Eliah stayed true to her original work from Wattpad and I felt like I was a part of the story with the way it sucked me in. I cried and laughed along with the characters and was able to escape reality through them. I can’t wait for the third book. I need my fix of Waze!
I loved every second of it and just couldn’t put it down for a second! I can’t wait for the third book and i know it’s going to be absolutely amazing just like this one and the last. It’s not just a. regular cliche and it has such an amazing deep plot, Eliah is such a great writer and I wish this was a movie, highly recommend!
This book was AMAZING! I absolutely loved it and it made my day when I first started reading it. It was very intense and very emotional (for me) and I finished it in 2 days and I didn’t eat or get up, I just kept reading and I really just loved it! Thanks Eliah for the book and I am looking forward for the 3rd book already!!! 💕
I love this book so much. The book has the best content ever. I love Waze so much. There are so many beautiful scenes and some drama too, but I still love it. Eliah wrote the book so good. I literally have no words for it. It’s just amazing. I recommend this to everybody.
I loved the first book, in fact I can admit I have read this more than once, the second book did not disappoint and I cannot wait for the 3rd, some second books are repetitive but this was never the case and I enjoyed every minute of it, would highly recommend
Yep, DNF at 60%. I barely made it through the first one, but I did and hoped that maybe this book would redeem itself. Spoiler alert, it did not. Somehow there was even more drama and cliches in here than the first one.
I love the shift in the relationship between the characters! How they’ve all become to accept each other and grow as a family! Haze and Winter are so cute together as well and it’s gorgeous to see such a loving side between them!
And just when I didnt think it couldn't get any better it so does! This 2nd book had me hooked from the very first word and I need to know what happens next like I need to breathe! Haze, my man, I want to strangle you and love you all at once! I need more now!
Winter and her cousin, Kendrick, flee the city to lay low for a few weeks whilst the insanity of book 1 dies down.
But Haze is slowly starting to realise that he’s falling for Winter, and there’s no way he’s going to be kept away from her. So he tracks her down and steals her away to his family’s old summer home.
They learn more about each other, have fun, give into their base desires, and fall in love.
But of course, Winter is a trouble/drama/insanity magnet, coupled with the fact that Haze is into some shady shit himself, and there is no way they can keep their happy little bubble in tact.
Winter is an actual idiot. The number of time she sees something suspicious, acknowledges that it’s suspicious, and then “thinks nothing more of it” is unreal. Or when something dodgy is happening but she doesn’t tell anyone. Especially considering how many times she’s been ambushed/kidnapped/attacked/stalked. So.much.facepalming.
Her relationship with Haze was the only thing keeping me going at this point. I love their chemistry and how much he wants to be what she needs, except he’s so broken that he doesn’t know how so keeps fucking up instead.
There’s a lot of drama packed into this book. I don’t know if it was maybe too much to happen in one book.
I mean: 1- the shock that Haze is a dad and his ex is a petty, jealous bitch trying to break them up and win him back. Only to find out that she lied and the baby isn’t even his. 2- Ryder buying her a dress out of the blue, making a move, getting beat up by Haze. Only to find out that he was a plant by Kendrick. 3- Ryder going all predator on Winter, Haze beating him up again, the East Side guys getting the wrong end of the stick and beating up Haze, Winter trying to intervene and getting knocked out herself. 4- Haze’s “friends” and fighters questioning him at every turn (even though he’s meant to be feared by all). Haze avoiding Winter to throw them off the scent. 5- Winter going to Haze’s apartment at his summoning (even though his text didn’t sound like him at all) and being ambushed by the West Side. Again. Haze bowling in to save the day. Again. 6- Haze having to choose between his gang and his girl, obvs choosing the girl, but apparently painting a massive target on both their backs. And why? I mean really, why? They’re high school kids. And the guys are underground street fighters. Why would this make everyone want to kill them? Just nuts 7- Haze’s brother Tanner dropping the bomb that he’s actually the father of the baby that Haze thought was his, and that he’s married the skank ho of a mother so that he will inherit the family business. And then not understanding why Haze would be upset about the betrayal. I mean…..come on dude 8- Blake ominously showing up again after betraying them all in the last book. Claiming he just wants forgiveness and to be allowed back in the East Side. But also, Winter not telling anyone she saw him back in town until he’s broken into the house 9- Winter getting kidnapped AGAIN at the end of prom. Her kidnappers being Blake and yet another jealous bitch, Bianca. Who is well and truly psychotic. 10- and finally, finding out that the only reason Haze doesn’t want to go to Canada with Winter is because he wants to fulfil his promise to find his sister’s killer. But does he tell Winter that? No! Of course not. Even though he told her he made that promise when he told her the story originally. He just “can’t bring himself” to tell her the reason why he won’t go.
That is a fuck-tonne of drama for one book. Not a shred of it believable. And yet I still couldn’t put the damn book down!
Again, I realise I’m just outlining my negative thoughts here but I still enjoyed the reading and am interested to see how it finally all ends for them.

I really love this book, the plot and everything were amazing. I could easily picture every scene and it hooked me in every page. Each chapter got super catchy and it hooks you without you knowing. I was fortunate enough to be selected in the arc team and was given the arc copy of this book. I’m really thankful and glad that I’m given this chance to and this book had seriously made me love reading. It was hella roller coaster ride of emotions in me, I enjoyed it throughly and it just made me realize how much can one protect their loved ones. Haze and Winter made me learn a lot from them. “Jerk” - “Prude” nicknames just for each other, how cute. “ This is new for me. I’ve never missed someone’s presence.Yes, I miss her body, but for the first time I also miss...everything. I miss her sticking her freezing feet to my legs at night. I miss her smell. I even miss her trying to push me off the bed in her sleep.” How sweet, every little detail in their relationship about them. Moments of bittersweet, cute and definitely a lot of moments to scream because it finally happened or I’m getting diabetes from it but still hooked to it. I love Haze and Winter, all of their moments together, the moments theu shared as they appreciate each other. I was damn into the book because everything was so detailed, so much to handle. I LOVE LITERALLY EVERYTHING and this DEFINITELY DESERVES SO MUCH MORE❤️
