Read for my thesis. It wasn't as useful as I thought it would be when I scanned the contents page and then took it eagerly to my library desk, but Zwerdling certainly has some interesting theories and ideas. One I would consider coming back to in future, definitely.

It allowed me to better navigate Mrs. Woolf's writings; it improved my reading experience a lot, raising the curtain on the complex web of influences and ideas ensconced in Mrs. Woolf's slim volumes.

useful for thesis. more about her literal real world (context in terms of war, feminism, her ideals on the family, etc) than about the figurative world she works with in a literary way (which i was personally more interested in when going into this). still learned a lot. cool if you like vw

Probably my favourite academic book about Woolf: Zwerdling says all the interesting stuff other people seem to miss, and does it with energy and excitement
