The Imaginary Boyfriend

Rate this book
He came into our garden like a ghost
the blond boy with the raven on his shoulder
He was pretty like a star
and just as distant
an imaginary friend
vanishing before anyone else could see him.
But years later, he appears at my high school
He comes out of nowhere, just like before
This time he’s older, taller, the raven gone
Is he real? Was it all true?
And if he vanishes again, how will I survive it?

This is a whole book just sectioned into parts.

Part 1
Claire is a lonely girl until she meets Finn the only problem is no one else has met him, unfortunately he disappeared suddenly.

Part 2
Finn is happy claire has returned but needs her to remember her past. Annie is still causing trouble but why and will Finn forgive Claire for leaving.

Part 3
The story of Finn & Claire is getting more complicated he’s left this time but will she find him.

This book truly took you on a rollercoaster of emotions the twist and turns. I loved how Finn was so protective of those he loved and the sacrifices he made. Claire’s character was so determined to get answers and carried on fighting for them both.

A great story.

When I started to read the book, I was expecting something completely different, but I should have expected something like this from Jo Raven who just loves to torture her characters.  This time the story has a little fairy tale feeling, and for some time you don't even know what's real and what's not.

The book is divided in three parts, in the first the main characters are kids, in the second they are teenagers, and in the third... well, they're still kind of teenagers, but it takes place a couple of years later.  In each part we get to know them a little more, and discover more and more secrets.  Of course, you fall in love more and more with them as time goes by.  There were a few things I would have liked to see, get a better closure about a couple of things, but in general, it was very satisfying, and a great reading.

Once again, this is a book I couldn't stop reading, that has great character development, secrets to discover, love to be explored and a lot of growing up.  Some of the things that happen to them are quite harsh, but at the same time so real, that it even makes you think a little more about the world around you.

Read it, it's really worth it.

After so long without a book from this amazing author, I get to have three in one sitting. Oh goody... I was so happy when she told me this. It was amazing to be able to be at the front row waiting...
Jo Raven is the author is talking about. She's brilliant, she's intense and her books are to die for.
Her writing is wild, hot and so intense. Just grab one book and see for yourself.
The Imaginary Boyfriend is her latest release and it's the seventh book from the Wild Men series.
This new book explores the lives of and Claire.
Claire thought she had it all. She grew up surrounded by money and loneliness. Being the daughter of a Diplomat and a Socialite should make her happy but it doesn't. Money doesn't bring happiness, it's the opposite.
Dayum. Just Dayum. What just happened?
I'm still shaking from the intensity... Dear lord...
Intense plot, very well written, super engaging and dark. It was scary but also intense.
This book is amazing and you'll see. Through every flick of a new page, you'll see what I'm talking about.
There were parts of the book that I wanted to scream, to shout, to hurt someone. But then there were others that I just wanted to get inside the book and hold them. To promise better days, a better life.
It's hard to fight when you have the entire world pulling you down. It's hard to believe in yourself when you don't have anyone in your corner.
Love, loss, betrayal, crime is very present in this book as well as the desire and straight.
Do you know that feeling? That feeling when you're reading and things start to make sense. Things start to fit like puzzle pieces.
It was seriously another freaking amazing book.
Jo Raven, woman, what was this? You're trying to kill me right?
This book just stole a piece of my heart and I still want more.
There are questions that need answers... Please...

4.5 Stars ⭐️.

Jo Raven is getting her mojo back. I loved the concept of this book- a boy comes into her garden and befriends Claire, an only child, and then he disappears. She’s then left to wonder who he is and if he was real at all. Seven years later she finds him again but her world is full of secrets. Secrets that she needs to remember and to know if she ever wants to be with him.

I loved Finn, he is a true character of Jo’s. He’s damaged and almost broken but has the weight of the world on his shoulders, so he can’t give in just yet.
Claire is so naive at times, but she grew up with her head in a book so everything feels a little fantastical. I would’ve liked more involvement of her parents at the end- they were so keen to help find Finn’s family and looked like they might have leads to who he is related to but then we didn’t hear from them again. Maybe this could be a novella down the track. All round, I loved this book, it suckered me in with the bit of darkness and kept me going until the end.

This book is pure Jo Raven gold! I loved every tortured second of it! We all know this author for her broken heroes who we just cant help but love, and this book is no exception. From the very first page I was hooked. I could not put it down at all and devoured it so fast that I was so sad it ended! These character built a home in my heart and will now live on in there forever.

Finn and Claire's story was riveting. I could feel that connection, that draw between them. They are electric! I loved all the characters within the walls of this story, ok, maybe not Annie so much, but the others are wonderful and I do hope to see them again. I would love to see a book about Finn's sidekick, D.

Although this book is only written in Claire's POV I thought it was perfectly written. It kept the mystery, it didn't give too much away, it kept me hooked. I fell for this book hard. I just love it. I can't wait to read more tales from this fabulous author. She will always have a fan in me!

Jo Raven is undoubtedly one of my favorite authors and so very different than the others in her writing, in her...torture methods!
I have read many of her books and do have my preferred series of hers. That said, in total honesty the book screamed Jo from the first page but it did not hook me right away. The rollercoaster of Claire and Finn's story was awesome yet exhausting.
But yet, Jo writes like that. There is a lot of pain and sacrifice until the moment where it is all worth it.
Finn is like a magical character, yet so real, so strong. Claire is a girl who seems to hesitate and lay low, yet she of all people is a true hero. Finn's other half. I loved these two, such sweet fighters.

I am happy to be reading Jo again and looking forward to her books.

Who Claire thought was a figment of her fervid childhood imagination, 7 years later turns out to be a very flesh and blood boy and he’s angry with her.
Now Claire must come to terms with the fact that everything she remembered from that time might not have happened the way she thought.
Like every Jo Raven’s book, this is another one of a kind, original and great story
We know Jo loves to emotionally torture her characters and this book is no exception.
It’s a journey through the workings of the human mind and the memories that can deceive the perception of what is real and what is not.

This is literally an enchanting book. I absolutely loved the story of Claire and Finn and the way the author weaves magic and suspense into their intriguing story. I have to confess I wasn’t sure initially as it was a slow burn but I’m so glad I carried on reading because very quickly I was ensnared in this original and beautifully written tale and totally captivated by the imagery. Brilliant and a well deserved five stars from me

When it comes to torturing men,Jo has it down to a science. Finn is the newest man in the Wild men to be tortured, but not only does she torture Finn, she tortures Claire too. Are they able to unravel what really happen to Finn and Claire?
Will they find a happily ever after while they fight to be together or will it all come crumbling down?

I do love the Wild Men!!!!!

What an Angsty, heartbreaking, sexy, friends to lovers romantic read!
Finn was the mystery man and Claire had known him for so many years growing up and yet she she didn’t really know him at all.

Claire was young when she first met Finn in her garden but she was lead to believe it was all in her imagination, she was lonely and Finn never really existed neither did the black Raven.
Years later at school she saw Finn again, this time knowing he wasn’t part of her imagination and boy had he grown up.
Finn was complex, and an extraordinary person putting himself in situations others would never do just to keep the ones he loved and cared for safe. Claire learns more and more about the real Finn in a push pull kind of complex friendship/relationship and as the events/truth unravels her love for him deepens.

Loved this read! Claire is sassy, stubborn and amazing. Finn is quiet, reserved, damaged and sexy AF with his heart and soul fixed only on Claire.
