He hates the corporate world. She’s all business. Now they have to work together on the one job that could make or break them both.
Connor became a flight medic for one reason, and one reason only. To help people. If he can keep his head down and his past in the past while he’s at it? Even better.
Until Harlow appears to upend his world with an offer he can’t refuse.
She’s calculating. Composed. Scalpel-sharp. And she’ll stop at nothing to make her father’s business successful. Even if that means teaming up with Connor to turn around a failing clinic.
He shouldn’t like her. He definitely shouldn’t want her. But the more they work together, the less he’s able to resist.
USA Today best-selling author Kimberly Kincaid writes romantic suspense that sizzles and contemporary romance with heart and heat. Equal parts action and emotion, her firefighters and first responders always save the day. When she's not finding adventure with her family and naughty Whippets, Olive, Daisy, and Jack, she can be found practicing obscene amounts of yoga, whipping up anything from enchiladas to éclairs in her kitchen, or curled up with her nose in a book.
Kimberly's series include The Intelligence Unit, Remington Medical, Station Seventeen, and her brand-new Remington Rescue Squad series. All titles stand alone for easy reading.
Between Me & You is book three in the Remington Medical series by Kimberly Kincaid. In this book we get to know Conner, the sexy romance novel loving ER nurse at Remington Medical. I think he is my favorite so far!
Conner Bradshaw dropped out of college and joined the Air Force. He became a well trained flight medic during his six years of service. After he left he returned to Remington and was hired as an ER nurse at the local hospital. Conner’s greatest goal is to help the people of his community. He spends his spare time volunteering at the medical clinic. Conner’s family is his friends at the hospital.
Harlow Davenport has worked hard for her position at her father’s corporation, Davenport Industries. Davenport Industries has been hired by Remington’s medical clinic which is named after Harlow’s mother, to straighten out the mess the former director created. She is assigned to handle the business side of things and the board has voted to offer the operations side of the position to Conner. Harlow is a buttoned up, nose to the grindstone type of business woman. Earning the respect of her father is what drives her.
Conner and Harlow are both very determined to succeed at their new challenge. Only they have very different work ethics and don’t agree on anything. Every day is a new argument and they soon realize they can’t make progress unless they learn to compromise. They also realized all that chemistry that has been zinging between them when they argued was really attraction and you know they could only ignore it for so long.
First, I loved Conner. He’s a tatted up, sexy, dirty talking man that would make any woman want to visit her local emergency room. But he’s also laid back, kind and dedicated. I also loved the effect he slowly has on Harlow. He got her to look at the people side of things. That there is more to their clinic than just numbers. She also got to experience friendship with Conner’s group of friends. She had never allowed herself time before. Never had a girls night. It was so lovely seeing her settle and enjoy herself a little bit.
The clinic was a mess. Maybe even more than they realized. The board is impatient and wants results quickly. Conner and Harlow are trying everything they can to find a way to keep the doors open. At the same time, they are falling for each other.
I really enjoyed this book. I loved seeing the way this clinic was able to help the residents of Remington. Conner and Harlow were so good together. Although it took them awhile to figure that out. It’s also always great to get to revisit the characters from the previous books. I can’t wait to see what’s next for this series!
I have loved each book in the Remington Medical series and Between Me & You did not disappoint. I loved the story and the characters. Kimberly Kincaid crafts another enjoyable and entertaining read.
Harlow and Connor have amazing chemistry in this book. It slowly builds and it has a turning point that can make or break a relationship. Harlow and Connor share bittersweet moments and there are surprise plot twists that Kimberly Kincaid always does so well in her books.
I love an enemies-to-lovers story and Kimberly Kincaid delivers big time with Harlow and Connor. Opposites really do attract in this delightfully steamy tale! I adore this series and the cast of characters that make up Remington Memorial. Definitely a must read book!
Well, for the first time in a very long time I read a female character that, if Connor didn’t slap her upside the head, I was going to. Ugh … she frustrated me just as much as she was frustrated herself. I was surprised with how confident she was yet so self-depreciating. Luckily, Connor knew exactly what she needed and how she needed it. Kimberly Kincaid wrote two very different but very alike people who, under different circumstances, probably wouldn’t have made it work. But, after a rocky start, they find a way to work together. Then they find a way to trust each other. It took a lot but, in the end it all paid off. They went through some tough times and found that, together, they could get over any hurdle but one. It’s that last hurdle that has them at odds but its’ how that last hurdle is jumped that makes them both realize just how much they needed and wanted each other.
I loved how Kimberly wove this story. From the friendships that Connor thought he would lose when the truth came out to Harlow standing by his side in the end. There was never a dull moment. She showed us all sides of Harlow … from bitch to angel, we understood her vulnerability and watched her transform into a woman that belonged with Connor. She put her in situations that made her understand Connor’s passion for the clinic. Then, she turned the tables and made Connor think long and hard about his past, made him understand her passion for the business world and what drives her to be the best at what she does. Honestly, she took two strong-willed, dominant people, turned their emotions against them and brought them both out on the other side.
From the boardroom to the bedroom, Kimberly Kincaid gave us an interesting, passionate and compelling story about love, trust and new beginnings.
Between Me and You is the story of Connor and Harlow, the hot ER nurse/ex-military, and the beautiful business woman. Book 3 of the Remington Medical series by romance author, Kimberly Kincaid, is a steamy, enemies-to-lovers romance! Right from the beginning there is tension so thick you could cut it with a scalpel…but it also creates undeniable chemistry as well.
But he doesn’t just make you mad, does he? He also fires you up…
One of my very favorite things about this book was written, is how the author writes the inside-the-head dialogue. LOVE, LOVE, LOVED IT!!! It gave such a personal insight into the characters’ thinking and a deeper understanding of them!
Connor’s adrenaline tapped out the Morse code equivalent of hey-how-are-ya in his veins, and he pulled in a slow breath to let it know he was juuuuust fine, thanks.
As with the other books in this series…the storyline, characters, heat, and setting are all freaking fantastic and Author Kimberly Kincaid creates a vivid virtual world you feel you can step into. There is an abuse situation in this story, and it was so well handled and written, I need to add additional kudos for how that was done. I would definitely recommend Between Me and You (and the whole series) in a heartbeat! 5 bloody stars!
Where writing is concerned, Kimberly Kincaid barely puts a foot wrong. Admittedly, there are some plots and characters that are obviously more palatable than others but a confident, driving style is what Kincaid has in spades. That alone, has so much going for it: it moves the plot along swiftly and keeps you peeled to every twist and turn...thanks to the beauty of words.
I do like Kincaid's Remington Medical series thus far (minus the second book, which felt like an aberration to me) and 'Between Me & You' is like a fantastic fix for dreary afternoons with a pairing that is solid, well-matched and built on mutual respect and teamwork.
Harlow Davenport and Connor Bradshaw clash at first but both are strong characters in their own right and alphas in their own fields: their friction is believable, their tussle realistic. It's isn't quite an enemies-to-lovers kind of romance and neither is it a rivalry, but their ways of looking at life and business differ especially when Connor and Harlow are tasked as co-directors of a clinic that has been racking up a debt that goes straight into the stratosphere.
In short, I think Kincaid does brilliantly in pulling together the heart of medicine and the business side of it. Situated at opposing ends of this spectrum, I liked Harlow's and Connor's compromises and the general maturity they show that finally had them meeting in the middle. Much of their romance is built on conflict management, though the climax is one that is a tad predictable as is their subsequent (and somewhat quick) resolution at the end.
More than Connor/Harlow's chemistry or admiration for each other however, Kincaid's emphasis on respect and trust, the bonds of friendship and what families should mean shines through here and for that alone, 'Between Me & You' is a worth-it read.
Between Me & You, one of my favorite types of books to read is enemies-to-lovers! It’s such fun to see how the characters move from hating to loving—it’s such a fine line between love and hate, right?
And wowza, do Connor and Harlow walk that line!
As occurs in all the other books in this fantastic Remington Medical series, Connor and Harlow’s romance balances snark, sass, straight-talk, and sexiness. Their romance feels so real—and so does their tension and amazing chemistry. They’re both so damn likeable—and you can’t help but root for them to get together. To make it happen.
And then to add in the side-characters—of course, it’s always awesome to catch up with other beloved characters from the series, right?—and how they enrich Connor’s and especially Harlow’s life. To see the friendships that have been tried and tested as well as to see the friendship bloom between Harlow and the ladies of Remington Medical.
This series just keeps getting better and better and I cannot wait for more! ~ Missy, 4.5 stars
Review copy was received from Publicity team. This does not affect my opinion of the book or the content of my review.
I continue to love the Remington Medical serieswhich is set in North Carolina. It is the same world as the Station Seventeen series. I enjoy seeing some of those characters briefly again. I really enjoy the circle of friends these co-workers have become and how they support each other in the various things happening in their lives. The author does an excellent job on bringing in interesting details about their work with medical and business details. She also brings in the gossip and politics of a working environment.
Harlow and Connor are such great characters. They both work hard and care about others. They also both have insecurities and things to hide. Even so, they are very competent at their work. They really bump heads at the start, each wanting the same result but having different ideas about how to get there. Gradually, they learn to work together effectively for the greater good but it is not easy.
And then there is the smoking hot chemistry they have. It helps them continue to grow their relationship and support for each other in the work. But even with them both working together to succeed, the situation isn't an easy one.
I did feel like there is more to come with Connor's past and Declan which were not resolved in Between Me & You. So I have to wonder if there is more to come in the series. I hope so!
COYER: Book set in the state you live in. North Carolina PTS:5
Between Me & You is the newest installment in the Remington Medical series from Kimberly Kincaid. If you are anything like me, you have wanted Connor's story forever, and will be happy with Connor and Harlow's story.
I've loved Connor Bradshaw since the moment he appeared on the page. I love how much he wants to help others and the fact that he is a dealer of romance books with one of his best friends on the cover made him absolutely adorable to me. The fact that he is super sexy didn't escape my notice either. I loved he was picked to help run the clinic to try and save it when it was discovered the management had been less than stellar. Enter Harlow Davenport...she is such a badass woman. I loved her from the beginning. She is a woman succeeding in a business that is predominantly male, with not help from her father who owns their company. As the clinic is named after her mother, she plans to do everything within her powers to turn the clinic around.
I loved that Connor and Harlow look at the way to save the clinic in completely different ways, yet somehow come to see eye to eye relatively quickly. I know others say this is an enemies to lovers troupe, but I honestly didn't really feel like they were enemies at first, more having to get past a misunderstanding. I did love the chemistry between Connor and Harlow and felt like they made a really good couple. I liked the slower build between Connor and Harlow for their relationship, as moving too fast didn't really seem to be in either of their characters.
While I loved Connor and Harlow finding one another, I have to say the fact that Harlow found real girlfriends for what seemed like the first time in her life gave me just as many happy signs. Women need their crew, and Harlow found hers with the women of Remington Medical. Yes the romance was great, but the friendships were every bit as important to Harlow and Connor being together.
Between Me & You was a great addition to the Remington Medical series. Kimberly Kincaid once again delivers a beautiful story. I have an idea as to who the next book will be about, and I have to say if it is who I'm thinking right now, I can't freaking wait to head back to Remington Medical. Between Me & You is part of a series, but I feel like it could be read as a stand-alone story if you wanted to start with it.
Rating: 4 Stars (B) Review copy provided by publisher
#scorching, #book3, #mustread, #preorder I have been waiting for Connor and Harlow’s book since I read the first book in this series. What’s to not like, I mean the guy promotes and reads romance novels! This means he knows what will make the toes curl and how to make a woman feel special in and out of the bedroom. Connor has been my favorite of the guys since he came on the scene and I wasn’t disappointed. Harlow is all business and has something to prove, she needs to show everyone she can do the job she loves. She has never mixed Business with pleasure and isn’t temped until she meets Connor. He is passionate about his career and loves helping people. He has close friends that are more like family. To Harlow and this reader that is very sexy! These two are drawn together by an invisible magnet that gets stronger and stronger as they get to know each other. I loved reading this book for a lot of reasons, one being the fact that Connor never tries to control or change Harlow’s drive. He understands her need for control. He helps her see that with him she can be in control but doesn’t have to around him. She can let her guard or second skin of armor off. You will NOT want to miss this book! And if you pre-order then go to Kimberly Kincaid’s FB page and fill out her form you can get a FREE Exclusive Extra scene, ONLY pre-orders will see this!! SO, go right now and order your copy before it is too late!! ***I was granted the privilege to review an ARC copy by the author and publicist***
This series just gets better and better!! Between Me and You is my new favorite(which is saying a lot!). I fell in love with Connor and Harlow.
Harlow lives for her job and that's the way she likes it. So when she is tasked with saving the clinic built in her mother's name, she makes sure it not only survives but thrives. If that means she has to partner with Connor Bradshaw, then that's what she's going to do, reluctantly. The gorgeous former flight medic turned trauma nurse wants nothing to do with business but he is all about saving the clinic for the people of Remington. If that means working with a woman he doesn't trust, never mind even like, then he'll do it. As the weeks go by though, attitudes start to change. Sparks fly as these two fight for the clinic and their growing feelings for each other.
I love an enemies-to-lovers story and Kimberly Kincaid delivers big time with Harlow and Connor. Opposites really do attract and these two are delightfully steamy! I adore this series and the cast of characters that make up Remington Memorial. Definitely a must read book!
The man was flat-out beautiful. And she was in flat-out trouble for how much she noticed it.
Between Me and You is the third sublime installment in Kimberly Kincaid’s scorching Remington Medical saga set in a North Carolina medical complex. It’s a contemporary romance extraordinaire and a riveting medical drama that any layperson can relate to. Between Me and You works perfectly well as a standalone if that is your preference, but believe me, you’ll want to inhale each book in this series which is why this series ranks as one of my top two favorite contemporary romance series this year. This is Connor’s and Harlow’s story. I’ve been excited for Connor’s tale since the first book in this series, Back to You. He’s a gorgeous former military flight medic turned ER trauma nurse at Remington Medical. He’s passionate about his career, loves helping people and has close friends that are more like family. Seriously, when I need medical care, I want a nurse like Connor. In a great twist, Connor’s best friend from his military service is now a hunky cover model on romance novels. Connor promotes the novels with the hot, eye-catching covers and actually reads them so he knows what makes women’s toes curl and how to make a woman feel special.
Harlow is a beautiful businesswoman with something to prove. She’s cunning, hard-headed and ambitious. Harlow needs to be in control but has to partner with Connor - albeit reluctantly - to save a community clinic bearing her mother’s name from closing down. Connor doesn’t trust Harlow but will put his distrust aside if it means that those who need the clinic will continue to receive quality health care. Under a strict deadline they must work together to pull off a miracle and balance a budget horribly in the red and do it by not sacrificing healthcare.
Opposites do attract and these two are exquisitely steamy! Every heat-driven liaison this couple shares left me swooning. I found it incredibly sexy that Connor understood Harlow’s need for control. He helped her see that she can remain in control, but can drop her guard around him.
Please know that there is an abuse situation in this story. Kimberly handles it tastefully with heart.
Following please find a few of my favorite swoon-worthy lines from Between Me and You:
Every once in a while, their gazes would linger just a beat longer than necessary, or their shoulders would accidentally touch while they waited for that first pot of coffee to brew in the staff room, and Harlow was forced to admit something far more dangerous. She didn’t just like him. She wanted him. --- “What am I supposed to do? Just tell him flat-out, ‘hey, if you think it won’t wreck our flow at work, I’d really like to have sex with you?’” “Why not?” Natalie asked. --- “Let me make sure I’ve got this right. You want to have casual sex. With me.”
Next up is Tess’ tale. There’s a scene that I wonder is predictive of her story. Tess lifted a brow and sent an appreciative glance over the book in Harlow’s hand. “Yeah, but can we just talk about this cover for a sec? Because I have highly impure thoughts about this man.” “Really? Charlie giggled. Tess poured herself half of another margarita from the pitcher on the coffee table. “It’s just a fantasy. It’s not like I’m ever going to meet the guy. So, what’s the harm in having him in my spank bank, really?” Regardless, I can’t wait!
Kimberly Kincaid delivers big-time with this perfectly plotted, hot enemies-to-lovers romance and I loved every minute of it. I adored the way Kimberly wrote it in the third person POV to where readers are in the characters’ heads thinking and feeling as they do. Besides the story being fabulous, I’m wild about its exceptional cast of characters. As a plus, if you have read the previous stories in this series or Kimberly’s Station 19 stories, you will get a chance to catch up with those characters as well. Between Me and You is solid from start to finish and highly recommended.
I really liked how Connor and Harlow figured out how to work together to benefit the clinic. They were both stubborn, but knowledgable about their areas. I enjoyed watching them learn about each other. I think Harlow took her father's edict about emotions a tad far. I loved the whole "found family" aspect of this series. The way that they saved the clinic was interesting. I mean, it was a sort of obvious way to go, but it was sprung on us. I really liked how they accepted each other as they were and didn't try to change the other or save them. Overall, this is a great book.
Although this is the third book in the series, it's the first I've read and it was able to read well as a stand-alone. While it was evident that some of the secondary characters had a history that I missed by not reading the previous books, they were not prominent enough characters to have needed their stories for this one to work well to any newcomer.
Harlow and Connor are strong characters but are not without their own faults. Together they must work towards a common goal: save a community clinic from closing down - a clinic that bears her mother's name, a community that Connor's father took so much from. Coming at it from opposing angles does not provide a smooth path but despite this, their attraction grows to the point that it can no longer be denied.
Professionally, they seemed to work well together once they opened up to actually working TOGETHER. Romantically, the connection felt a little slow and disjointed at times. Maybe it was the daddy issues that both bore. Maybe the cold shoulder and clinical approaches bled into the bedroom a little too much. I'm not sure, but personally... I did not feel the romantic connection I'd hoped for. That's not to say that the plot was not good. I really enjoyed the story itself. Problems were met and solved, leaving no cliffhangers. The ending was solid.
I really really enjoyed this story! Connor and Harlow are to work together to save the clinic where Connor works. They are so different that some tension is inevitable, yet there is another kind of tension between them. I loved getting to know the character and see the changes in them personally and in their relationship. I loved Connor from the start while it took me some time to like Harlow. I really loved that there was drama at the start and was easily solved. It is a great story about friends and family, the balance between business and caring.
This is the third in the Remington Memorial series and keeps you guessing throughout the story! Enemies to lovers, corporate and medicine and lots of friends front the previous books. Full review to follow.
Whoa. Between Me & You is the third in Kimberly Kincaid's Remington Medical series, and between you and me, the series just keeps getting better and better.
Between Me & You is Harlow Davenport and Connor Bradshaw's story. Harlow is brought in as business director of the Remington Medical Clinic, which has been badly mismanaged and is on the verge of being shut down as a result. Connor, an experienced ER nurse and veteran medic, is tapped as the operations director.
Harlow is passionate about business and about doing her job incredibly well. As one of her father's top consultants, she truly enjoys her work and also aims to make her father proud. They've always been close, and she wants to live up to the legacy he's guiding her towards. Connor is passionate about helping his patients. He's calm under pressure and a warm, considerate guy who makes friends easily. He's great at his job and is determined to make this clinic a success. The two of them butt heads and surreptitiously consider the other a formidable opponent...until they don't.
Kimberly Kincaid does a terrific job letting us see Harlow and Connor's strengths and giving them the chance to let each other also see their vulnerabilities, and ultimately they and we see that they are even more formidable as a team.
A deeply satisfying read. I can't wait for more in this series!
With secrets in his past, Connor is chosen to head up the hospital's poorly maintained clinic in hopes of keeping the doors open. What he does not plan on is also having to deal with Harlow who is in charge of the clinic's financial side. The two start off bumping heads immediately, but when they both realize talking with someone is not the same as talking at them things take on a different route. The enemies become lovers. When the hospital makes a decision on the fate of the clinic with this be the make or break moment for Connor and Harlow? Or will their love survive even is their hard work did not pay off? From the opening paragraphs to the very last chapter this book had me locked in. I could not put it down. Connor and Harlow fed off each other's emotions and were so stronger together. This was a great read.
I am on a Kimberly Kincaid binge and I'm loving every minute. Connor and Harlow were just great! Loved their kinda hate at first sight that turned into some serious love at the end. Loved how caring they both were and how even though they were completely opposites they managed to work together and open up to one another. I just wanted to hug both of them so hard. And their chemistry was totally hot. Loved this sexy story and this series so much.
Connor and Harlow’s enemies to lovers story in Between Me & You, book three in Kimberly Kincaid’s Remington Medical series is an amazing story. After leaving the Air Force as a flight medic Connor started working at Remington Memorial because he wanted to wanted to help people. Connor has a secret from his past which could hurt the people he cares about and work alongside. The clinic across from the hospital was established in the memory of the Davenport matriarch, Harlow’s mother. Wanting to turn this place around from its mismanagement Harlow offers Connor the position of director of the medical side while she will be director of the business side. This is a position that Connor cannot turn down as it will help the citizens of Remington, especially those less fortunate. Harlow lives and breathes business, trying to live up to her father’s expectations. In fact, she has forfeited friends, love, and self-care to be the person she believes she is supposed to be. From the beginning, Connor and Harlow clash; deciding which is more important the business end or the medical end and how to balance the budget. As Harlow and Connor work together to save the clinic, their attraction and chemistry not only grows, but is noticed by those working around them. In fact, the traits that make each character special start rubbing off on the other; Connor finds ways to save money yet accomplish all he wants for the clinic while showing Harlow how to be more empathetic to the clients at the clinic. Finding solutions outside the box is a major theme in the workings and the saving of the clinic.
I adored Connor, especially the fact that he read romance books and shared them with his co-workers. His ability to defuse difficult situations, find releases to the seriousness of the emergency room, respect and understand his patients, and at the same time efficiently help people, especially those hurt. Harlow was harder to like at first as she seemed almost robotic, single minded, focusing only on her mission and the bottom line. Spending time with Connor and his friends loosened her up, allowing her to reveal real feelings, insecurities, and faults. Following the path Connor and Harlow took to stop disliking each other to becoming friends and then lovers was an enjoyable journey.
Ms. Kincaid provided an emotional tale rich with sexual chemistry, amusing banter, strong connections with family and friends as well as endearing characters; providing Connor and Harlow a chance at everlasting love. I highly recommend Between Me & You to other readers and look forward to the next book, and couple, in this series.
I voluntarily reviewed a complimentary copy of this book.
Connor, Connor my sweet, hunky, romance book loving, nurse fantasy from the first 2 Remington Medical books. I have waited patiently for you to get your own book and o’wee was it worth the wait. Steamier than the broccoli in my diet dinner.
Connor, the ruggedly handsome built like a tree truck, nurse we’ve come to know in both previous novels gets his how do you do in Between You and Me (Book 3 in the series). His main squeeze is Harlow, daughter of a businessman and hospital board member at Remington Memorial. 2 more different folks could not exist in the same air space, or are they so different after all.
Connor has loved being a nurse, joining Remington Memorial after leaving the military he has found his calling for sure. He loves helping people and no better way than being on the front lines, per say, as someone comes into the ED with an injury. When the higher ups offer him a management position running the hospital’s clinic, he feels this is where he needs to be to help even more people. But accepting that position means co-directorship with Harlow.
Harlow didn’t want this co-director position, in fact she had her sights set multiple other places and is unsure why her father placed her here. Yes the clinic is named after her deceased mother, and yes she wants to see it succeed but this really isn’t her field of expertise. Plus, accepting this position means dealing with Connor as co-director all day. Her brain thinks she can do it, but can her libido stay quiet.
Harlow and Connor look very different on paper, but once you start peeling back those layers you realize they are more alike than either could have ever imagined. Moving past a huge misunderstanding and into a work relationship that will save the clinic, they find they have a ton in common and work to build that relationship. Will an intense moment ruin their newfound friendship?
I don’t want to say too much and ruin this book but oooooh mama, the storyline went in a direction I never anticipated but it was soooo good. It was nice seeing Harlow shed some of the formal layers she has been presented with in past books. Connor is sexy as always, but also kind, compassionate and determined. And psst Tess’s book is next and Oh My Word it is shaping up to be a dooooozy. I knew who her hero would be and (squeal) I can’t wait to see the words on paper. Bahhhhhh grab your copy now and dive in to Remington life and if you haven’t read the first two in the series get them too!!!!
Connor Bradshaw is a former Air Force Flight medic who is now a nurse working at the local hospital when he is approached to take a job to run operations at the Marlene Davenport Memorial Clinic.
Harlow Davenport has been working her way up the ladder at her father's company with goals of becoming the first female chief operating officer at Davenport Industries. She is shocked when her father asks her to run the business aspect of the Marlene Davenport Memorial Clinic as she feels like it's a slap in the face for how hard she is working.
Together Connor and Harlow have a limited amount of time to turn the clinic around after it being run to the ground by the former director.
Can Connor and Harlow find neutral ground to be able to turn things around? When the two can't deny their attraction to one another will it get in the way?
This was a great book that I enjoyed from start to finish.
I really liked Connor and you knew something was up when he really didn't want to go to the press conference and I was shocked when we discovered why. I knew this was going to be a huge issue for Harlow but I knew that Connor deserved the position and not to be judged on someone else's mistakes.
Harlow was extremely mad to be given this position and she felt like it was a demotion and I wondered how hard she was going to work at it. Yet she knew she had to do an amazing job to show how much she could achieve but soon she learned that there was more to running a business than just cutting staff.
I really liked watching Harlow and Connor come together as co-workers first and how they bonded at the batting cages. I also enjoyed the two opening up to each other and seeing their weaknesses and why they were doing what they were doing.
Their chemistry was intense and I wondered how "casual" was going to work for them. I loved the two of them together and I loved how Harlow really got to see a different side of Connor as they worked together and different situations that they were in.
I felt bad for Connor and Harlow with the huge amount of debt that they were given how they really tried hard to get out of it. I was mad at the hospital for giving them a situation that was unlikely to succeed.
The end was super intense for awhile and I was mad at a few people and then I was so happy at what Harlow did although I really thought it was going to be her dad!
Harlow Davenport is a driven woman who will stop at nothing to succeed, her only focus is her work and coming out on the winning side of things. But her newest job is about to test her in ways she never thought possible, and make her question her all work no play lifestyle. She has been tasked with saving the clinic that bares her mother's name from going under. But for the first time in a long time she will have to share the reigns on a job, and that little fact puts her on edge... especially when she meets the handsome man she will be working with!
Connor Bradshaw is a flight medic turned ER nurse who works at Remington Medical Center. He loves what he does, and he is damn good at it, it feeds his need to help people and it's fulfilling work. His hard work has not gone unnoticed, and it's about to earn him an opportunity of a lifetime. The clinic affiliated with the hospital that employs him is going under, and they have hired a company to come in and turn things around, but they need someone with his skills to get the job done. He wants to save the clinic, but he has his reservations about the uptight woman he'll be working alongside that will be handling the financial side of things. The vibe he gets from her leaves him questioning her motives, she's all business and no compassion... and that is certainly a recipe for disaster!
One sentence into to this scorching enemies-to-lovers tale and I knew there was no chance I was putting it down until I had devoured every last word. The tension was thick, the sparks were running rampant, and emotions were at an all time high! These two fought their attraction to one another at every turn, both had pasts that were haunting them, an agenda they were focused on, but love had other plans for both of them. The chemistry between Connor and Harlow was undeniable and every heat driven encounter they shared left me blushing and my toes curled... Connor is quite the charmer! I loved every minute of this latest tale from Ms. Kincaid, her words squeezed my heart, and her characters had me smiling and swooning throughout! Highly recommend!
I requested an advanced copy of this title from the publisher, and I am voluntarily leaving my honest opinion.
Filled with lots of sparks – both in the office and out – Kimberly Kincaid delivered a medical romance that had just the right mix of drama and romance but also had lots of heart and compassion that you would hope to find in a medical/clinic setting.
Harlow is very intense and likes to run her life like a well-developed business plan, just give her the facts - no emotions, please - and she’ll come up with a solution that can fix any problem. Connor knows that saving the clinic is more than just making cuts to the bottom line – caring isn’t just about the patients, it also is about the staff. With styles that seem polar opposite and guaranteed to keep Connor and Harlow at odds, I wasn’t sure how these two would be able to work together and figure out a way to try and save the clinic – and add to that the insane chemistry between them and I knew this was going to be fun ride!
Easily read as a standalone, I did love getting to reconnect with characters from the first two books. One of the things that makes this series special is the bond between the friends from Remington Medical as well as the other characters in the cross-over series (Station 17). I love this close-knit group of friends and how they always look out for one another and are always so willing to open their hearts to new members of the group and to each other.
Kincaid’s writing style works perfect with this book and series – the medical scenes were delivered in such a way that I was easily brought into the scene without being overwhelmed with medical jargon or technical information, and there is a natural tension in much of her dialogue that speaks to the nature of the medical setting and the stress that accompanies it. I did love how she also was able to bring out the fun side of the characters as well – even though for Harlow having fun was not something she does much of anymore, so seeing Connor break through her shell was wonderful.
This was a great addition to the Remington Medical series and I look forward to the next book. If you like a lot of sparks and tension between characters also laced with just as much heart and compassion, then this is definitely one to check out!
I received an advance reader copy from the author which I voluntarily reviewed.
I received an ARC of Between Me & You by Kimberly Kincaid for an honest review. I have loved each book in the Remington Medical series and Between Me & You did not disappoint. I loved the story and the characters. Kimberly Kincaid has delivered another amazing story. Between Me & You is the story of Connor Bradshaw and Harlow Davenport. Connor is the flight medic turned nurse who works in the Remington Medical Center ED and ICU. Harlow is the daughter is Maxwell Davenport, whose company Davenport Industries has been hired by Remington Medical Center to turn around the Marlene Davenport Memorial Clinic. The clinic is named for Harlow's late mother who died of brain cancer. Connor accepts a position as a co-director of the clinic, working on streamlining the clinic operations while Harlow is the co-director of the financial piece of the clinic. Connor and Harlow spend long hours working on streamlining the operations and getting control of the budget shortfalls. They are seeing some success, but will it be enough to save the clinic before the hospital board of directors makes a decision. Connor opens up to Harlow about secrets from his past and Harlow shares secrets from her past as well. Harlow and Connor start a romantic relationship, outside of the clinic. I love the moments they spend at the batting cages and their special moments. Because of mismanagement by the prior director, Harlow and Connor need a major influx of cash to save the clinic. Harlow feels closer to the clinic the more she works with Connor and sees the good that the clinic does in the community. She begins to understand why patient care is just as important as the budgetary issues that they have been battling. Harlow and Connor share bittersweet moments and surprise plot twists that Kimberly Kincaid always includes in her books. Wasn't sure if Harlow and Connor would get their HEA, because of a late conflict. Glad everything came together in the end. Cannot wait Tess's story.
I've been excited for Connor and Harlow's story and it definitely was worth the wait. They were combustible the chemistry was spot on, I love them almost as much as Parker and Charlie or Natalie and Jonah. Now I'm all excited for Tess's book (I hope she hooks up with who I think because that would be great). Anyways onto Harlow, all business woman with no time for emotions, and Connor, Air Force medic vet turned best nurse ever. The Remington Memorial board of directors has hired Davenport Industries to fix the mess that is the Marlene Davenport Memorial Clinic finances. The clinic is hemorrhaging money due to the inept director and Harlowe was put in charge to fix it but the board took forever to find a new director. Harlow's father's stipulation is that she co-directs the clinic until they get it back on its feet. The board's pick was Connor who has hundreds of combat medical ops under his belt they feel like he can handle this with no problem.
Connor and Harlow's relationship started off nonexistent, they fought about everything but underlining the disagreements was a strong physical attraction. Ultimately the physical attraction wins out both agreeing that it won't affect work. But the clinic remains in jeopardy and it seems no matter what they do they are destined to fail and at the risk of their relationship hard decisions have to be made.
Overall, this was a great read. I enjoyed it just as much as the other two in the series. I love the whole Remington world, Kincaid writes wonderful characters, hot romances, and emotional stories. As a stand alone or as a series it's a good read.
An enemies to lovers, medical romance. Where two very different personalities have to work together to achieve one goal, which seems impossible when Connor is focused on the operations side of the medical clinic and Harlow is focused on the business side. Under a strict deadline they need to perform a miracle and balance a budget that is already horribly in the red and do it by not sacrificing healthcare.
While working together both Harlow and Connor try to set aside their underlying feelings, knowing the time and place isn't exactly ideal, plus they are complete opposites of each other, it would never work. But, underneath the polar views of how to run the clinic, they both realize that they actually have the same goal. Could they actually work together to achieve what they both want without sacrificing their own principles?
Between Me and You is a standalone in the Remington Medical world, but you might find the story more cohesive if you've read one of the previous books only to become familiar with the other characters and the basic premise of the clinic and how the doctors volunteer there during their free time and mention how chaotic it is run before Connor and Harlow take over. But again, it's not necessary because Kimberly does a great job tying all of the characters in and bringing you up to speed.
Connor and Harlow have a slow burning chemistry. Connor is a huge sweetheart and I could love on him all day long. I would totally want a nurse like Connor on any hospital visit I have. Harlow is a strong, independent, business woman and in this day and age she can stand on her own. Together they match each other strengths and weaknesses very well.
I haven’t read a lot of Kimberly Kincaid books, and what I have read I really enjoyed it. And this story I really loved, which means I am getting the rest of her books 😊
Connor Bradshaw has a college dropout who joined the Air Force. He is a trained flight medic and all he wants to do is help people. After six years in the service he returns home and is now working as an ER Nurse. And he loves his job. Harlow Davenport’s father’s company has been hired by the hospital, which is named after her mother, to sort out the mess the previous director made of the hospital. So she is doing the business and Connor is working on the operation side. She is all business and she wants to do a good job and make her father proud of her. But her and Connor can’t seem to work together as they both have different ways of doing things. She is more focused on the business side and all Connor wants to do is help people no matter the cost. So how are they going to compromise to make this hospital a success. And not to mention dealing with the chemistry between them.
This book almost reminded me of a hospital drama, I recently watched and some parts made me laugh, other parts made me sad, but most of all it was good seeing how two people with totally different backgrounds found their compromise and each made the other a better person. I loved Connor… hot, sexy, dirty talker #McSteamy… lol… And Harlow I respected what she was trying to do, but also that she got to find the part of her that she didn’t even know she needed. Definitely a 5 star read!
Connor Bradshaw has been hiding a secret for a long while now. Only a few people know about his past. He's been trying to pay a debt that's never really been his to pay. Now he's got this great opportunity to give more and help more people. It puts him in a precarious position of possibly exposing his secret and losing this opportunity. He's been a combat medic in the military but now working as a nurse at Remington Medical. He's quick and a efficient at his job and is part of a family there with his fellow colleagues. Harlow Davenport is the business women sent to help him fix the huge failure that is the medical clinic at Remington. She's tough as nails but the clinic means a lot to her as it bears her mothers name. This means she's got to find a way to work with Connor. Not a easy thing for the all work no play Harlow. I was excited to see how Connor's story would play out since book one. He's one of those stand out characters that you instantly like. Harlow on the other hand is likable but frustrating woman because she's wound so tight. Work is all she does. She's got her own issues with trying to please her father and not properly getting to grieve her mothers passing. In the midst of trying to save the clinic they both learn to trust each other but when everything seems to be lost forever will they crumble? In the end i loved them as a couple. The people at Remington Medical took Harlow in and made her one of their own. The characters of this series have all found a place in my heart for the comradery they show each other. Can't wait to see what happens next!
