About the author

Oliver Dimon Kellogg (10 July 1878 – 27 August 1932) was an American mathematician.

Kellogg is known for his work on potential theory, which was the subject of his dissertation and also his famous 1929 textbook Foundations of Potential Theory.[4] In 1922 with George David Birkhoff he generalized the Brouwer fixed point theorem to the theorem of Birkhoff–Kellogg.

Although written in the beginning of last century, this text presents very detailed calculations and all the fundamentals of potential theory. It serves as an excellent reference as well as for personal study. A good list of proposed exercises are included. A wonderful addition to any science library.
