10-30: A Riveting Crime Mystery is a murder thriller story. Having read previous works from this author, I knew from the start that I was in for a beautiful story. Payden Becks has recently joined the police force. He works under an older, more experienced field trained officer named, Richard. Richard is married to Ana, and the three of them get to become close to a point where Richard even asks Payden to watch over his wife when he is called in for an assignment.

The 2019 release of the movie, "The Joker", for which Joaquin Phoenix won an Academy Award portraying Batman's most notorious nemesis, made 2019 the year of the villain's back story. While I don't think the book "10-30" was planned to coincide with that, the connection is there. This novel is the origin story of bad cop Payden Beck, whom we first met in Michael Golvach's novel, "Split the Middle". A fascinating story I would categorize as a sexy, psychological crime novel about a rookie police officer named Payden Beck who is working his first murder case. Payden isn’t your average cop. In fact, I think he might be a psychopath. That is not to say he is a bad person. He realized early on in life that he wasn’t like everybody else, being born without a moral compass.
