I didn't know what time of year Orion dives below the New England horizon, and when he reappears. I also didn't know that the nebulas and star clusters are so easy to find with a telescope or strong binoculars once you know where they are located in the sky. The timing of both the Perseid and Leonid meteor showers is noted. Certainly, I would re-affirm the timing with a local astronomy club, but its always good to know when the exciting things will be happening in the great above.

I've had more than one edition of this book--as it has been updated several times. It is a wonderful tool, making finding particular stars, constellations and other celestial objects relatively easy to find. An excellent tool for us beginners in astronomy.

Handy book to take with you stargazing, paperback about 60 pages,
with about a dozen maps. Great for the Starry nights.
