There are a lot of references to past events and the main plot is a continuation of an arc that has obviously been going for a while. It was twisty and good, but I would definitely say to read the others first. (less)

What a twisted crazy story.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
This book is a part of a series and while it was a bit difficult to catch up to the other books and to the theme of the story, the author did do a good job in the first portion of the book summarizing where everything had left off.
I found an immediate connection between the characters and the authors development of them was interesting and well done.
Most of the story reveal revolved around a serial killer and their hunt for this person who is doing
I received an ARC from the publisher via NetGalley in exchange for an honest review.
The Darkness We Hide by Debra Webb is another case of being glad that I decided to stick with The Undertaker's Daughter series. I particularly enjoyed just how twisted this installment was, even I had to work to suspend my disbelief of some scenes a little more than I generally prefer to in a non fantasy or sci-fi story. I also enjoyed that we finally got some downright shocking family secrets out in play. My
When it is snowy and cold outside, superspeed readers like me can read 250+ pages/hour, so yes, I have read the book and many more today. LOL
I requested and received a temporary digital Advance Reader Copy of this book from #NetGalley, the publisher and the author in exchange for an honest review.
From the publisher, as I do not repeat the contents or story of books in reviews, I let them do it as they do it better than I do 😸.
This book is part of a continuing story arc and the preceding books are essential to read before this one.
I decided to binge read the three books following the novella (which you cannot skip!) and Im so glad I elected to do so. Each book picks up essentially where the last one finished and that continuity added to my enjoyment. And, knowing that this one would end the series ratcheted up the anticipation and suspense. By this point, Rowan has been blown away by the secrets shes uncovered about
The Darkness We Hide by Debra Webb
The Undertakers Daughter #3
In the finale of this trilogy we finally have the answers that Dr. Rowan Dupont has been looking for. - and that I have been waiting for. By the end of this book many secrets had been revealed and I felt the conclusion had definitely been reached with this series even though it seems there is another series by this author in the same setting. It was a bit slow in the beginning, there was a bit of repetition in Rowans thinking at times
This is the third book in the Undertakers Daughter series by Debra Webb. I am not certain, but this could be the last book in this series. It certainly did feel like a finale book to me.
Basic premise: Rowen Dupont runs her familys funeral home business. But there is a killer lurking in the shadows waiting to take revenge on Rowen.
Family is really important in this book. A lot of family secrets are unearthed in this one, so dont skim over anything and miss some startling revelations! We
Having read the other books in this series I had to go back and reread the books to remember who Rowan was but once I started back down the web of the undertakers daughter I couldn't put down the books.
This book will not disappoint readers as they are pulled though the web of a serial killer that has tormented Rowan for years.
The authors ability to create a fear that readers will connect with as well as the moments of clarity show the amazing ability of Debra Webb and her gift for the written
I have enjoyed this series and book three was no exception! It was everything you could want out of a serial killer thriller- fast paced, disturbing, twisty, and adrenaline inducing. The ending was a heart pounding finish and I loved it! The character development throughout this series has been excellent and the conclusion of this book was a beautiful testament to that. The author is adept at ramping up the suspense and I was on the edge of my seat in apprehension. 4 ⭐ Thank you to the publisher ...more
This was another great book in The Undertaker's Daughter Series. I was glad to be back in the world of Rowan Dupont and Billy Brannigan. In this one, Rowan is still dealing with shocking family secrets, deaths of loved ones, and the evil Julian Addington.
I especially liked the closure that this book provided on some of the ongoing storylines. I was glad to see some of them finish and to see where Rown and Billy were in their lives at that point.
Love this series and I'm so glad that I was invited to read and review it, it was non-stop from the beginning to the end ,and once I start reading it I was hooked , and one of the reasons was just how darker it seemed and how when you think you knew all of the dark secrets that there could ever be you find out that there is still more to the story then you think is ever possible.
Special thanks to NetGalley and the publisher for a free, electronic ARC of this novel received in exchange for an honest review.
Rowan DuPont is desperately trying to live a normal life with her boyfriend, police chief Billy Brannigan, and manage her fathers mortuary business. As funeral director and undertaker, Rowan knows how evil people can be. And no one is more evil to Rowan than Julian Addington, her mothers former associate who was responsible for the death of Rowans father, as well as
Favorite Character: Charlotte
Charlotte has it all together, and shes not afraid of anything. She keeps the funeral home running while Rowan deals with a serial killer, discovering her family history, and love. She doesnt let Rowan out of her sight, filling the role of protector even though it could cost her everything to do so.
What I Loved
In the third and final installment in this trilogy, Webb ties everything up nicely (if a bit quickly, to my mind) and Rowan finally gets her answers - some of which come at quite an emotional price. The writing and pacing in this final book were once again tight and kept me on the edge of my seat. I read this one in literally one sitting of about 3.5 hours - I couldn't stop until I, like Rowan, had my answers...
My one issue with the book was the final confrontation with Rowan's nemesis, Julian
Even though I didn't read the first two books in "The Undertaker's Daughter" series, the author gave good enough information to help you get caught up with what's going on.
Rowan Dupont knows a thing or two about death. She's been surrounded by it all her life. Her father was The Undertaker for their family's mortuary business. So being around dead bodies doesn't faze her. While she was a Police Officer, her father got killed by a former associate of her mother's named Julian Addington. She took
4.5*
I'll start out by saying that when I grabbed this off of Netgalley, I didn't realize that this was book #3 in a trilogy and finally did when I opened up the book.  Luckily, reading books 1 and 2 is not at all necessary to follow the story, though I'm sure it makes for a fuller, richer read having all of the backstories.  Ms. Webb adds enough detail from the previous books via the main character's thoughts and recollections so that readers can pick this one up and still have a great reading
The Darkness We Hide by Debra Webb is the third novel in The Undertakers Daughter series. The author does provide a summary of what occurred in the earlier books in this series, but I believe it is better to read The Undertakers Daughter series in order (it makes more sense that way). It is a dark tale with gruesome details that will have you ...more
While this was the third book in The Undertakers Daughter series and had a fairly intricate case of characters, I was able to follow along despite having not read the previous two books.
Well, now that I know this was a trilogy, the continued focus on the relationship between Rowan and Julian makes a lot more sense! I wish I had known this when I read book 2. I probably would have had a bit more patience with it! That being said, I still think the writing (or maybe editing) needs a bit of attention. Thoughts are repeated multiple times. Two such points that won't spoil the book are Rowan not wanting to ruin her friendship with Billy and not being able to accept that her father ...more
