Jodi Payne’s latest novel, Stable Hill, is a sweet and romantic tale of three very different men who come together to find love. We get nicely detailed backstories for all three, and it’s a pleasure to watch as they navigate their journey.

Three years after his husband passed away from cancer, Oscar finally realizes he’s capable of feeling romantic love again. He discovers there’s a still a part of his heart that can open up and make a connection, and his heartfelt emotions as he ponders his reac

Oscar has it hard, he is a widower with four children, besides his own job he has his father’s farm Stable Hill with employees to run. After losing his husband three years ago he now lost his father six months ago.
He has to sell the whole farm with stables and horses. So, here comes Jeffrey as a realtor in the picture.
Russell is a loyal farm manager, he was close friends with Oscar’s dad and now he lives alone at the farm. His heart is for Oscar, always been.

On the whole, I enjoyed this. The setup, the realistic issues these 3 face with having a relationship, from each other and the world around them. The way their age differences were portrayed. But there were a few things that I wished the author had explored more and not just glossed over, which made this a decent, fairly steamy read for me, but not one I’ll read again .

There was a lot of time jumping and recapping what’s happened. Once the 3 came together there was a lot of off page time togeth

Round up to 3.5 stars.

The blurb sums up the plot quite well so I won’t rehash.

For the most part, I quite enjoyed this. I liked how it wasn’t an established couple bringing in a third, it was three men who simultaneously found each other. I don’t say this often - this is my quirk about kids in my m/m books - but the family aspect worked for me in this one. The two older kids brought a bit of maturity and grounding that balanced out Oscar’s emotions. The age range and life experiences between our

Jeffrey and Russ have met before as their paths crossed a few times when they were both in need of an anonymous partner. So, Jeff’s ecstatic that his sexy new client, Oscar, has put him in direct contact with his sexy stranger, Russ. The sexual tension is pretty high from the start, with all three men experiencing a great deal of attraction. Oscar’s rather troubled by this, at first. He had walled himself off in grief for so long he isn’t really expecting to encou

I liked the set-up of this story and really wanted to fall in love with it, but I didn’t really get there.

I had a hard time believing in the strength of the relationship between the three men, mostly because of Oscar. He is at times quite self-absorbed and not as aware or as careful of Russ’s and Jeffrey’s feelings as he should be. He also has quite a mean temper on him, and I didn’t care for his angry outbursts, even taking into account the difficult choices he has to make.

A book can be good and you still may not enjoy it that much.

Like here.

I usually consider myself a relatively fair judge - I try to separate my feelings from the quality of the book and try to comment on both. In an ideal case, this is pointless. In cases like this, it's the polite, right thing to do.

I think (and found out after so many books and reviews) that a reader's opinion and enjoyment of a book is a complicated matter, that goes, more or less, along two lines: the book and the reader. A b

I’m not normally one for triad stories but this one was interesting enough to hold my attention. The characters were endearing as well.

This was such an awesome read. This is a heartbreaking read about three men that find one another during the midst of trying to figure out how to deal with the things going on in their lives. One man is still getting over the loss of his husband and father while raising four daughters and taking care of his mother in law. Another man is worried about his job since the farm he works for is about to go on the market m. And last but not least, the last man is dealing with wanting two men at the sam ...more

While the writing style was decent, the plot and the MCs were not overly interesting (unless you are interested in the details of selling a farm). In fact, only one MC was a fully fleshed out character, with complex personality and history (Oscar). Russel and Jeffery remained pretty one dimensional, with very little of their history and personality revealed or explained. For instance, we don't know why Jeffery had been uninterested in romantic relationships for most of his life. We got excuses, ...more

It's not my habit to repeat the blurb, especially not in this case, because it sums what you can expect from the book quite well. First let me say that I loved this book for several reasons, it was a page turner for me. I love to read about unconventional relationships and I've read more MMM (or even more M's) books that I can remember. This one stands out for very important reason. It really shows how hard you have to work and adapt to make this kind of relationship work, especially when there ...more

Jodi Payne's Stable Hill is a feel-good menage romance.

There are some wonderful aspects to this romance. I was immediately intrigued by Oscar and his home life. I love the kids he's raising and his relationship with them. He's still grieving the loss of his husband, but doesn't have much time to even think about it.

When he arranges to sell his family farm, Stable Hill, he's reunited with Russ, the sexy farm manager. But it isn't until he also meets the realtor, Jeffrey, that everything develop

Stable Hill by Jodi Payne is a really nice read. I liked the pace of this book it is not too fast or slow. It is not overly dramatic, is a well thought out love story with three men who really need each other to be complete.
Oscar, he has lost his husband to cancer. He has four adorable girls. A mother in law who is really a dream. A good job and a house. And just has inherited a ranch. He doesn’t know what to do with it, so he is going to sell it.

Oscar, Russ, and Jeffrey were each very different but likeable characters. I enjoyed watching them become a supportive, loving triad.
Oscar was a good father to the four daughters his late husband left behind, and I never doubted that he always wanted to do the best he could for the girls. His mother-in-law Rose was a wonderful woman who was always understanding and thoughtful. HIs daughters, especially Emily and Sophie, were great characters.
Jeffrey was used to casual hookups, but he easily put
Jodi Payne is a new to me author. I have to say as picky as I am with MMM reads, I thoroughly enjoyed this story and the author’s writing. One thing I loved about it was when it began, I couldn’t figure out how she was going to take me there because quite often I can figure it out before we get there, if you know what I mean. An organic, May/December story that is so hot and at the same time, so sweet. These guys are opposites in every way imaginable and each come with their own sets of issues/c ...more

This is an good story with wonky bits included.
An MMM story with the characters who have a "fast" attraction for each other.  Oscar is widowed and busy with his 4 stepdaughters to think about love.
Russell has wanted Oscar for awhile but he was still grieving. And Jeffrey had a connection to Russ in the past.. hot sexy scenes, secrets, Holly smokes Oscar's life was about to be hotter than ever but they have to work out the communications part first. This focused mainly on Oscar's story. I liked s

This was a somewhat different MMM story, but it worked quite well. Oscar, Jeff, and Russ have quite different characters and life-paths and you would think that they cannot fit together but the author dedicated to each two-way relationship enough description and details to give the reader a better understanding of why their menage makes sense and may indeed work out. And Oscar's girls and mother-in-law are great side characters who help to create this wonderful patchwork family. At the end of th ...more

Jodi Payne's Stable Hill tells the story of an unconventional relationship between three men - Jeff, Russ and Oscar. These three men are very different but together they find something very special - love. I enjoyed watching them interact, falling love and find their rhythm together. Stable Hill by Jodi Payne. This is Oscar Kennedy, Jeffrey Stokes, and Russell White’s story.

A story about three wonderful but very different men. Despite the differences and baggage of each man the chemistry between them was hot. I enjoyed this emotional and heartwarming read. The addition of Oscar’s girls added to the story.

FYI, contains mature content. I voluntarily reviewed an Advance Reader Copy of this book.

Three is a beautiful number:

I loved the plot and especially the characters. Jodi has the ability and talent to develop each person you meet so they have distinct characteristics and personalities. It's like watching a play or a movie. There are so many nuances in this book that I hated when it ended.

HEA times 3. Or more, if Emily's life continues on it's current track.

I truly enjoyed Stable Hill by Jodi Payne; it's sweet and romantic. The book and the characters definitely had my attention from start to finish. The are several tropes: friends to lovers, May/December, MMM, and love any books that have kids in it. Looking forward to the next book from this author.

This is one of the best MMM I've read in a long time. It all starts with Oscar meeting Jeff and after 3 years of losing his husband, it shocks him. But Jeff has a spark for Russ who managed Oscar's farm. But Russ is in love with Oscar and trying to build up the courage to ask him out. Sigh!! This story has all the feels. As the sale of the farm becomes the focus point for all three men, they fall in lust with each other. Boundaries are crossed and hurt feelings happen but they find a wa
