Former Navy SEAL Commander Jack Bishop thought he was done with the government shenanigans that cost him part of his mobility, as well as his marriage. So when he’s approached to join Bone Frog Command, a secret division of the Department of Homeland Security, he’s less than enthused, until he realizes that Navy SEALs he worked with are in danger. But there’s a more personal connection. Somehow his best-friend’s ex-wife is involved and no matter what she did in the past, he needs to be there to help her out. He has no desire to rejoin any part of the government, but there are lives at risk, as well as a personal connection he can’t ignore.
Andrea Winters knows that something hinky is going on in her high traffic coffee shop. As a former Navy SEAL wife, and a strong member of the military community, she knows something feels off. She reports her feelings to a man she thinks she can trust, and suddenly she’s running for her life. Is there a conspiracy afoot? Or is she just overreacting to a strange set of circumstances? Things turn even stranger when her ex-husband’s best friend shows up on her doorstep, looking even more handsome than he did years before. In spite of the beat up exterior, she still sees glimmers of the man she thought at one time would help her rebuild her life.
Will he help her understand what’s going on now? Or just confuse her further with his hungry looks and even more demanding hands…
They’re in a race against time to save lives, and possibly hearts…

This was a tough story for me. I don’t prefer the MCs know each other before they get together. Sure it made it easier that her husband was dead and he cheated on her. But that was a bit too convenient. Aside from this plot device I don’t prefer, I enjoyed the story and the MCs. I like suspense and action and this served it up!

I love this author so I may be biased but I admit to reading anything she writes and enjoying it.

I'm glad Andrea and Jack ended up together, but for me their romance was a snooze fest. The whole "I'm in love with my BFF's girl" is getting old for me. In this case more so, 20 years, come on. I would have thought Jake would have welcomed the move Andrea made the first time around, instead that seemed to make him run, not sure why because at that point they could have been together.

I found I was more interested in what was going on with the kids, especially Dylan. I was very surprised that they told him the truth, had to be hard for the kid to take, especially when he realized he was going to get taken. I hated that not all the kids made it, hated that Dylan got hurt, but man...what a kid. I do wish we could have seen Dylan meet Andrea and Jack.

I hate that the person behind everything was one of us. I think Andrea called it right, someone who was pouty they didn't get what they wanted, to be on the teams. But man, how wacko do you have to be do set things up to take years.

Jack Bishop was on vacation, he hoped a permanent one. But Silas Branson from the Bone Frog division of the Department of Homeland Security dangles a case in front of him he can't refuse. This one is personal. Someone is after his best friend and teammate's widow.

Andrea Winters owns a coffee shop where she uncovers a sick plot against Americans but she isn't quite sure what that plot is. She overhears bits of words but not the complete plot. She contacts someone in the CIA but he ends up dead and she is now on the run. Desperate she calls the only other man that she can trust to protect her, a man who was there for her when she needed him most and then he walked away. He won't cross the brotherhood line again.

This is a story of heroes both big and small. It is also about second chances and putting ghosts to rest. The story is fast paced and full of evil intent as the terrorist plot unfolds. The story isn't without some sadness but the story and characters are very realistic. Ms. Madden writes stories about wounded veterans and Jack is no different having been badly injured in a mission that killed his best friend who was married to Andrea. This is the type of story that I have come to expect from Ms. Madden and I have never been disappointed. I very much enjoyed seeing Andrea step up and be a heroine, she is just as badass as Jack is. I love that one of the heroes is only 13 years old and he stood up to protect others. What's not to love? And if that's not enough there is also a lovable pitbull named Goose in the story which made me think of the movie "Top Gun".

Seal Hard: Fantastic characters! It was suspenseful and full of surprises. Jack and Andrea made a great team in and out of bed. I loved how he would protect Andrea but she was a spitfire when it came to bring his back up. How the children pulled at her heart even though they weren't hers but they belong to Navy Seals and she felt she need to protect Them and save them. Jack reacted the same way about the children. It had a lot of emotions throughout the story. Great writing and story telling.

This was one of my favorite Wounded Warrior books in a long time. I liked the fact that the main characters were older. Just because you are over 40, it doesn't mean you can't enjoy a little romance in your life.

Andrea is a Navy Seal widow. Her husband was killed in the same attack that injured his best friend Jack. Jack and Andrea have had feelings for each other for years, but have never acted on them because she was married to his best friend. They haven't seen each other for years because it just seemed too awkward and somehow almost like they were cheating on Dorian even though he was gone. When Andrea overhears a conversation in her coffee shop that sounds like a terrorism plan, she gets in touch with a contact at the CIA. After hearing her story he reaches out to Jack's current employer who assigns Jack to look into it not accepting Jack's unwillingness to reconnect with Andrea. He's the best man for the job.

They embark on a life or death quest to find out what the terrorists are planning to do and then trying to stop them. As they are forced to work together in their quest, they are also forced to acknowledge their feelings for each other. Will they be able to put aside their preconceptions and move forward even while their lives are in danger?

This is a terrific read. Once I started, I had to read it straight through. The characters bring you into their story and you have to keep turning the page to find out what new adventure they will find themselves in.

It was my first time reading this author and my expectations were exceeded. I loved it! It was just what I needed. There are times when you want mature characters and something other than teenage drama. That was me.
Andrea was everything he’d ever thought he would want in a woman, and she was the one woman he’d never be able to have.
I loved these two. 𝐀𝐧𝐝𝐫𝐞𝐚 definitely was the star of this book. This woman knows what she wants and goes for it. And what she wants is Jack, even if he’s a little stubborn. Andrea’s late husband was 𝐉𝐚𝐜𝐤’s best friend so she has been off-limits since ever, yet she has been the love of his life. I think that’s the thing that stopped Jack from giving them a chanceafter Dorian died in the attack and he didn’t, he carried some “guilt” and being with Andrea was inconceivable. Loving his best friend’s wife in secret all these years, wanting something he could 𝙣𝙚𝙫𝙚𝙧 have. That’s what he still thinks. And let’s say he has some self-esteem problems, his childhood certainly didn’t help.
We both want each other, but we’re both afraid to reach out. Why is that Jack?"
However, after Andrea hears some guy in her coffee shop making some terrible threats and decides to inform someone and then disappears, Jack can’t avoid her anymoreit has been a few years since the last time they saw each other, since the “kiss” incident.

I enjoyed the action and suspense in the story; it complemented the romance and drama. It was very realistic. Some terrorists have big plans for the Navy SEALs. And Jack and Andrea will do everything to stop them even at cost of their own lives. I liked that Andrea was a big help in this, she was resourceful and gave intelligent input, and not just keep them company. Even when we thought the bad guys were caught, we realize there are loose endsI didn’t notice LOL. The author did a good job there.

The only thing left was: What will happen between Andrea and Jack now that the threat disappeared? Will Jack go back to avoid her? She has make clear her feelings for him so now is Jack’s turn to decide to live in the past or make a life for both of them, together. He did the right thing in the end. I wanted to smack him so many times. He’s loyal to the bone and thought he was betraying his friend. This big tough guy felt fear at the thought of losing Andrea; now that he knew what it was having her for 𝒽𝒾𝓂 and not because of anybody else, he realized he couldn’t deny his feelings anymore. I loved how Jack shows Andrea sides of himself that no one else sees. Sometimes I just wanted to hug him. They are perfect for each other.
Come home with me, old man. Let’s see what kind of trouble we can get into."
One last thing I’d like to point out was the way the romance was managed. The current story just happens in four to five days; still I believed every 𝐼 𝐿𝑜𝓋𝑒 𝒴𝑜𝓊. It was because of the way we get told about their past interactions and the years it took to build their feelings, especially after Dorian’s death and the little glimpse we have at Andrea’s married life. (Don't worry there's no cheating at least from Andrea's side...her husband is another story)

I will absolutely try other books by this author and this series too. Waiting for the next installment.

This is the seventh book in the Silver SEALs series that I have read, and as much as I have thoroughly enjoyed the others, this one really blew me away.
The story centers around former SEAL, LT Commander Jack Bishop and Andrea Winters, widow of his best friend and SEAL buddy, Dorian.
Jack was out of the Navy after an injury and though he has done some work for DHS working with Bone Frog, he’s decided he’s done with the government. That is , until he gets a call from Si, the man in charge of Bone Frog, informing him that Andrea is possibly in danger. She’s the woman he’s loved from afar , but would never cross the line. Besides, with all his scars, who would want him.
Without giving out the plot, suffice is to say that the nail biting action is non-stop. One filled with bad guys and time running out. While trying to figure out who are all the bad guys, the attraction between Andrea and Jack intensifies. But a dead husband seems to always get in the way. Add to that kidnapped children, and your heart literally stops. At times the story is so heart wrenching, that you will cry and wonder why such evil exists.
Will Jack be able to keep Andrea safe? Will the bad guys be captured? Will Jack be able to let go of the “ghost” and allow himself to have a future with Andrea?
Once again , this talented author gives us a thought provoking subject with a scenario that is very real.
Another winner for the author and the series.
I was entrusted a copy of this book. The opinions expressed are solely my own.

One of the things I really love about these books is how the Commanders asked to handle things are always doing something really relaxing when they get the call. I almost feel sorry for them.

In this book we meet Andrea Winters, she is the widow of a SEAL who now owns a coffee shop in a college town. When she overhears something 'hinky' she does some cleaning up of the tables near the guy and later calls one of the people she knows can take care of the situation. This doesn't end well.

Jack is called in when CIA Agent Roger Mann is found in a dumpster behind Andrea's shop, and there is no sign of her anywhere. It's Jack who knows where she might go, her husband was his best friend and they were all more like family than just friends. When she calls him from the road, he confirms where she's headed and rushes to join her.

Things heat up almost right away in the form of an attack at the beach house. More information from the captured attackers and a quick move to another location. With the help of another Bone Frog, they start piecing together what the possible plan could be. It's devastating.

As they face the almost impossible, Andrea comes to the realization that she wants a relationship with Jack. Jack is more than a little reluctant but time will tell.

Scary, emotional, heartrending, with hold your breath action, tears and a simmer to sizzle romance. Do not miss this book!

I *love* “SEAL Hard!” (Be warned, however, that the plot can be difficult at times due to the subject matter, but I think it was handled with caring and the seriousness it deserves.) There were many times that I wasn’t sure just what would happen next, and I sat up WAY past my bedtime, dying to know how things would turn out.

Jack Bishop is such a big, burly, wounded bear, he hurts my heart, I love him so much. All he’s been through, physically and emotionally… the man deserves his HEA, and I’d happy knife the jerks who try to keep him from it! And I love Andrea, too. She’s definitely a strong Navy SEAL wife. One of the best lines in the book is this:

“Navy SEALs are bad*ss, but Navy SEAL widows are terrifying in their strength.”

Jack is a wise man, to not only recognize her strength, but he never, ever underestimates Andrea Winters. It’s a strong man who recognizes when he’s weak and celebrates the strengths of others.

My second favorite line is Andrea’s:

“Come home with me, old man. Let’s see what kind of trouble we can get into.”

These characters are really great together. They've been there for each other as friends for years, and they’re even better as lovers. I can honestly say “SEAL Hard” is one of my favorite summer reads of 2019.

SEAL Hard blew me away with it's intense story line! From the first page through to the end, the momentum never let up and I didn't want to stop - I had to know what happened next - so I didn't! lol

I adored how Jack was so devoted to Andrea, and the depth of his loyalty, respect, honor, and protection was for her (and the family). He was willing to do anything and everything to protect Andrea. And even though he needed some "permission" or "encouragement" to know he could fully embrace what he was feeling, he totally had that awesome alpha vibe.

Andrea was, for me, almost the perfect mix of strong and vulnerable - as she needed to be as a SEAL wife, and then getting her new hea in a former SEAL. She didn't back off from doing the right thing, and she pushed through whatever was tossed at her. She was the perfect match to Jack.

Then the suspense plot line - holy cow! Twisted, heavy, harsh, and anxiety-ridden, it kept perfect pace with the hea story line and provided the nudges needed for Jack and Andrea to get on the same page.

I definitely want to check out more books by JM Madden after this! Amazing!

When you're married to a SEAL you become more aware then the average person. You hear and see only a fraction of what your spouse sees, but it's much more than the regular person deals with on a regular basis. This is what helped Andrea (widow of SEAL Dorian) discover a terrorist plot being planned right in her own coffee shop. When the agent she turned to for help is murdered while she watched helplessly, she has no one else to turn to besides her husband's best friend Jack.
Jack hasn't had an easy life. An abusive childhood, on his own since he was 15, not to mention what he's seen and done while being a SEAL. His friendship with Dorian is his saving grace. So imagine how it messes with him when he finds himself more and more drawn to his best friend's wife as the years pass. He's kept his distance for years, but one call describing the trouble she's in and he's there without a second thought. Can he get to her and keep her safe while trying to thwart a terrorist plot. And is he willing to reach out and see what they could have together

JM Madden books never disappoint. Right from the start, the story grabs you with action as well as the interaction between the hero and the heroine.

Andrea Winters, widow of Navy SEAL Dorian Winters, owns a coffee shop and she knows something isn’t right. Some customers are acting suspiciously. She unwittingly overhears what appears to be a possible terrorist attack. She calls a man she can trust to advise of her suspicions. He ends up being killed right outside of her apartment. She then finds herself running for her life.

Jack Bishop is a former Navy SEAL commander who is more than ready to retire. His friend at the Bone frog division of DHS requests help from Jack. Navy SEALs families are in danger. One of those families is the Andrea Winters, widow of his best friend. Having been an active part of their life before Dorian died, Jack is not about to let anyone harm her and her family or any other SEAL family.

Oh my - Jack looks like a real gruff and unapproachable guy based on the cover but in reading the story, there definitely appears to be a softer side to him - especially in regards to Andrea. But he feels guilty that he has feelings for her since she was the wife of his now deceased best friend. As a result, he's been trying to avoid her.

Andrea has had to build a life for herself and her kids since the death of her husband. She's owns a coffee shop and lives in the apartment above it. When she overhears a conversation that is disturbing, she's not sure who to contact. Since Jack has been distancing himself, she calls a CIA agent instead.

When things start to escalate and her life becomes in danger, she calls Jack. I was on the edge of my seat while reading this book with all the twists and turns. Add to that interactions between Jack and Andrea and you won't be able to put the book down until you get to the end.

As always JM Madden has written a book that you can’t put down. An action packed romance. SEAL Hard is about Jack Bishop former Navy SEAL who is on vacation. But when he gets a call about his best friends former wife, he drops everything for her. Secretly in love with Andrea, Jack will do anything to protect her.

Andrea has lived the Navy SEAL wife role. She now has her own business l since her husband got killed in action. Her kids are both out of her house and she’s content. But while she’s in her shop one day she overhears something that makes her mind go on alert.

Her first instinct is to call Jack but she calls someone else instead. But once things go awry, Jack find her and together they bring down the bad guys.

Once these two put away the older feelings and new ones manifest, there is no stopping these two from falling in love.

Enjoyable
Unputdownable
Action Packed
Happily ever after.

Highly recommended.

SEAL Hard

This was another amazing story in this Silver SEALs series with Jack a retired SEAL who has done some work for the Bone Frog group wanted to retire but Silas came to him with a case that he could not refuse. Andrea who had been married to his best friend, Dorian who was killed in action when Jack got seriously injured as well. He had always cared for Andrea and it broke his heart that when Dorian was alive he cheated on her all the time. Now her life was in danger as were the lives of SEAL children after they discovered a plot to kidnap them. Working together they stopped their plans and even saved most of their lives while falling in love and moved on with their lives. They knew Dorian would be happy for them. This was an amazing story and I am looking forward to the next books release.

SEAL Hard is a phenomenal romantic suspense by J.M. Madden. Ms. Madden has brought a fantastic story to life with her amazing characters. Jack has been a Navy SEAL Commander, then worked in the Bone Frog division of the Department of Homeland Security. He's turned in his papers and is ready for retirement. Andrea lost her husband years ago, first to infidelity then to death. Now her kids are off to college and she's opened a coffee shop. Andrea finds herself in trouble and has to flee after witnessing a murder. Andrea and Jack's story is loaded with drama, humor, sizzle, action and suspense. I never go wrong when I reach for a J.M. Madden book. SEAL Hard is part of the Silver SEALs Series but can be read as a standalone. This is a complete book, not a cliffhanger.

I read a print copy of this book. All thoughts and opinions are my own.

Wow! I had to take a day after reading this to absorb everything before I could write a review. I could NOT put this book down. The story kept on moving at such a fast pace, I never felt a lull or moment where I could take a break. Jack gets word that the Andrea, the widow of his deceased best friend, is in trouble. He immediately comes to her rescue, and they have to figure out not only who is after her, but also see if they can make sense of their lingering feelings for each other. As is typical with JM Madden's books, there is a perfect balance of suspense, romance, and action. Combined with her ability to portray the harsh realities faced by our military heroes, readers get yet another fantastic read!

One of the things I've noticed when reading a book from the Silver SEALs collection is that I get so caught up in the story that I lose all sense of time. Before I realize it I am almost at the end. I don't want that to happen because the story is just that good. SEAL Hard was no exception. Andrea Winters is one strong, smart woman who knew what she wanted...Jack Bishop. She goes after him with singular focus after waiting for him for five years. Now Jack just have to get with the program and not let a misguided sense of loyalty keep him from the woman he's been in love with for almost 30 years. These two together are formidable and their work on a mission is, at times, white knuckle, edge of your seat action that keep you turning the page.

Excellent Military Romance and Much More💚💙

This started out with angst and anticipation, kept that tempo throughout. Loved the history between the characters and that Andrea is a very independent and courageous woman. She didn't need Jack, but she wanted him. Jack was (sigh) so honorable and protective, total alpha package with flaws and all. They had the chemistry, and waiting for that to explode was just as good as the terrorist plot that was also about to explode.
What they accomplished together in this read was nothing short of amazing and had me on the edge of my seat.
A high action romance that keeps you turning the pages.
A very fast paced read that ends with an HEA, and a deep breath sigh of Whew!

Once again a brother goes off the rails and almost destroys Seal families through their children causing the death of one little gurl. How can somebody hurt a child? Money, power and revenge are the devil.
With Jack and Andrea we have forbidden love. Having Dorian be like a brother to him, Jack is trying to live by the trust and Loyalty of the Seals code. Even though Dorian has been dead for over 5 years and Dorian has been unfaithful to Andrea, Jack will protect Andrea but not cross that unspoken line. After a-lot of action, suspense and near death experiences, Jack and Andrea realize they are meant to be together with the blessing of Andrea’s son and daughter
Great love story.

Well done and scary entry in the Silver SEALS series. Jack Bishop was badly injured and retired from active duty. When he receives the call from Bone Frog command, Sills knows that there is one type of bait, and only one, that will get Jack to commit. The widow of his closest friend, Andrea, has become the nexus of a local terror cell via her coffee shop. When she sees suspicious activity on her shop's surveillance video, she calls a CIA representative who comes to help. When she sees the man being murdered from her window, she runs away. Jack finds her and with the help of another veteran, they untangle a really ugly plot and take apart the terror cell. Lots of action here, and some attention is paid to the aftermath and the effects on the people involved.

Seal Hard

WOW! These two people have known each other for many years but Jack never wanted to intrude on his best friend. Andrea found out her husband was cheating on her but she stayed with him because of the kids. Once her husband died, Andrea found she wanted Jack and worked on getting to her. First they had to save did children from terrorists. The rescue of the kids was both happy and sad. Four of the kids were shot but the fifth child died, definitely had tears in my eyes at the list of this innocent child. The end of the book was both sad, because of the funeral and happy, because Jack finally came around and these two started working on their happily ever! FANTASTIC job J.M.! I would recommend this book.

What do you get when you mix a second chance romance and an awesome suspenseful story? You get Seal Hard, and you will not be able to put it down! J M Madden has written a tangled plot that ends in a happily ever after. You will love the characters. Andrea is a sharp lady with the insight that came to being married to a Seal. Jack was his best friend, and he works with Bone Frog division after his retirement from the Seals. He can’t help but step in to help the woman that he has always had protective feelings for. Jack and Andrea find themselves in a wicked plot, but of course they fix it with some help from their friends. They have a hard time but exploring the feelings that they have had for years. Seal Hard is gripping and sexy. You won’t be sorry that you flew through this book.

Young or old, a SEAL will never back down. Their families commit as much as they do, marriages struggle and children suffer without a parent. It's a tough and noble life. When terrorists take advantage of SEALs on a mission it becomes personal for all of those still at home. Jack and Andrea, former SEAL and SEAL widow, catch word of such activity and must save those involved. Of course, they have a complicated connection which keeps things interesting. Really enjoyed the intensity and excitement these two experience. Definitely a heart thumping read. I received an advanced copy, my review was voluntarily written.

This book will have your heart pounding from start to finish! Andrea and Jack have a history that I so well conveyed throughout this story, including all the familiarities as well as discomfort that would be expected between them. The suspense and action does not stop throughout this story and you will not be able to put it down until you have reached the end. You will feel as though you are right there alongside the characters experiencing every triumph and tragedy just as they do. This book is hands down one of the most intense and emotional military romance books I have read in a very long time. Another amazing story from Ms. Madden!

Disappointing Book

I thoroughly enjoyed the first seven books in this series, but this one was a big disappointment. The plot was predictable and the story itself seemed rushed. The characters were one dimensional, they didn't have any personalities not did they interact with one another in a believable manner. Add the multiple grammatical errors which should have been caught during a competent proofreading, and I'm forced to date this as a one star read. It was so bad I wasn't able to get past the first seven chapters. I did check in on the last two just to verify that I figured out who the traitor was.

SEAL Hard by J.M. Madden was a well written story with some really well developed characters that are so darn lovable for me anyway. This was a story with mystery, suspense, danger and definitely some love. Jack Bishop a former Navy SEAL Commander now working for the Bone Frog division and is given a new case and it just became personal when he hears that Andrea Winters is involved. Andrea hears some chatter that is a bit concerning, so she reaches out to someone to help but when things get a bit dangerous she is running for her life. That is just the start to a great story one you won't want to put down. I highly recommend this book.
