Michael Jennings

The title “New Horizons” carries ironic baggage in this tale of a brief vacation abroad by a couple who, though retired, are deeply stressed. Distance from home moderates their stress, at best, and in some ways makes it worse.
John Ross, who has just retired as a newspaper editor, and his wife Sally, a former teacher, fly to Budapest for a tour of ten days, the longest period John will consider leaving home. They tell others in their tour group that the trip is a gift from their two children.

Embry captures John’s edgy stress as he ventures off to Europe from his Kentucky hom

New Horizons (Book 3)

I enjoyed this book very much. The relationship between John and Sally is so wonderful. You know they are a retired couple, but then John says something cool like, "remember when we saw the Moody Blues in concert?" And you realize that they've seen a lot in their lives and yet they are still in love and together. I loved their humor and witty repartee with each other. They faced some sad events, but always as a team. I loved them as a couple!

Nice read

Very good novel. At my age, I can relate to most of the ideas that Mike has presented. Looking forward to the next in the series.
