This is my FAVORITE of the Shadow of Liberty Series. There are so many heart-stopping moments.

How could Metryka do that to Eric 🥲. And poor sweet Dora.

The Secret Place was also so encouraging. I can't believe I never thought about when we dwell with God in His secret place He is never far from us like when we are in our Father's Shadow.

CW: Surgeries, shooting ending in a death, train wreck, murder, assassination attempts

I actually have to say this is probably one of the best of Al Lacy's books! So definitely recommend!

This is set in the late 1800’s when there was lots of conflict over labor unions. The story revolves around the industrial revolution in Switzerland and immigration to America. The writing is good, but the gospel presentation seems slightly forced into the story. Also, it bothered me a little that people who were without jobs and saying they didn’t have enough money were eating in restaurants. I did enjoy it, though.

It was an okay book, just very slow moving, and I had a whole new stack of books I was eager to dive into. Maybe I'll pick it up again later.

Spoiler Alert! Don't read the back....it gives away the first half of the book! Very interesting how they tied everything up at the end.
