Peace Be Upon Ibrahim
Memories from the life of Shaheed Ibrahim Hadi
Translated from the Persian “Salam bar Ebrahim”

This is a book detailing the extraordinary life of Shaheed Ibrahim Hadi who was killed in the Sacred Defence during the Iran-Iraq war.

Blurb:

“He heard that a martyr complained in a dream to someone about having their body brought back. He heard they had said that until their body was there, Lady Zahra (a) herself would come every night to comfort them. Ibrahim Hadi smiled, and asked if that was so. He smiled, left and his body never came back..”

“I read a book about Shaheed Ibrahim Hadi. It was a very interesting and attractive book. After I had read it, I could not bring myself to pick it up from the table and place it back among other books. The allure of the character introduced in this book is so much that it acts like a magnet pulling us towards it. Go and find out about such personalities. There are other exceptional personalities such as these who were not even generals, officers or even unit commanders, however, they have anecdotes (to share)” – Ayatollah Sayed Ali Khamenei

“I saw a lot of people who say that their lives were upside down. However, they would say that after reading about Ibrahim Hadi, it completely changed them. A lot of the soldiers who went to the war front were not ready for martyrdom. Slowly, their hearts became ready for martyrdom. There are some whose hearts went very far. Shaheed Ibrahim Hadi was amongst those, whose heart had travelled very far. He would walk in front of the trenches of the enemy; what a walk he had! His light was such that he illuminated our paths!” – Sheikh Alireza Panahian

In the name of God, the Beneficent, the Merciful.

I can't express the value of this book enough. Martyr Ibrahim Hadi has changed the lives of many in my Muslim community here in the UK. Although we haven't met, I consider him a role model, a brother.

This book centres around the life of Ibrahim Hadi, a pro-revolutionary martyr in the Iran-Iraq war. Snippets of his life are collected from colleagues, friends and anyone who knew him personally. His life and death, at least from a monotheistic standpoint, are ones of piety, noble manners, and justice; premises the Iranian Revolution were built upon. In him, one can see see the true spirit of the Revolution, and we see the deeply religious reasoning behind its massive support base.

This is a good book for not only for Muslims, but anyone seeking to understand what ideals Iranians tirelessly gave their lives for during the Revolution and the subsequent war, and what they braved 40 years of sanctions for. This is certainly a personal insight of one man with the greatest of manners, and it swiftly punches through any propaganda which clouds the issue, striking at the heart of why the Iranian Revolution musters up such a large Shi'a support base; ideals of justice come to fruition.

Politics aside, whilst reading this book I often reflected on situations occurring around me. I frequently found myself asking, what would Ibrahim do? He devoted his life and death to helping others and serving Allah, and after his death he continues to be a lamp of guidance in the gloom of the 21st century. I highly recommend reading this if you are Muslim familiar with the concepts of jihad, to have true role models and a clearer perception of what's important in this life. Muslims who have read it following my recommendation have told me it changed their lives, and they too consider Ibrahim a brother. That's not a testament to how well the authors (who inspired by the humility of Ibrahim, chose not to ascribe their names to this book) compiled this book, but rather how much the character of this great man shines through its pages. Thank you to everyone who recommended this book to me.

Peace be upon Ibrahim.

I picked up this book and really didn’t want to read it, my parents kept nagging on it so I started it so that I could tell them I didn’t like it without feeling guilty since I “gave it a chance”. I was shocked and humbled and ashamed all at once. This book hands down is the best book I’ve read and I cannot begin to explain the impact it’s made on me (and every other person who’s read this book).
No matter what religion you follow, how religious you are or even if you don’t follow a religion; read the book. It’s not designed to change ur outlook, it only speaks about the memories and stories of a young man who was martyred fighting for his religion but I assure you that in one way or another you will come out a changed person once you’ve finished it. Something in you or around your life will change for the better and that is the blessing of this book.
I’ve never wanted to preach a book to others more than this, so please I urge you to find this and read it.

I am so glad that this is the first book I’ve read this year. May Allah grant us even half the willpower and iman that shaheed Ibrahim had.

I owe Shaheed Ibrahim so much for without him I don't know where I would be.

By God, I will never take him for granted.

I can't, in any way, give this book justice with my words.

The beauty of the pure persona of Shaheed Ibrahim is one that has inspired many to emulate his actions in the most God conscious manner, including myself.

There is an uncountable number of martyrs just like Ibrahim and their messages have lived on for years and will continue to do so.

The Qur'an has stated, “Do not say regarding those who are slain in the path of God that they are dead; rather they are alive but you are not aware.” This book is the most perfect example of this verse.

I'm grateful to have found such a role model.

Peace be upon you, Ibrahim. I could not put this book down. Often we make excuses for ourselves when it comes to striving to be on the straight path, since we are neither infallible nor scholarly. Ibrahim shows us what it means to be a true servant of God, what ikhlas, taqwa and akhlaq look like in the 20th and 21st century and how you can reach the highest spiritual levels despite being fallible and a “regular” human being, purely through the power of tarbiyat-ul-nafs. Though it feels illegal to use the word “regular” while describing Ibrahim Hadi.

If ever a book inspired me to change my life it's this. To take inspiration from ordinary people who were teenagers like me and killed in their youth but the full lives they lived. People like you and me, yet we can only dream to achieve the level of purity they did. But maybe we can try and get there little by little, any effort counts.
