I started reading without benefit of knowing the Spellster world. Despite this, I found "The Leap to Freedom" to be an adrenaline rush of non-stop action starting with the first paragraph. That's the thing about fantasy. In an epic saga, the author has all the time in the world to build a world; in a short story the reader must accept a new reality pretty quickly. Alien forces your suspension of disbelief in the very first sentence.

This was an excellent short read. There's magic, suspense, and interesting characters. It keeps you on your toes throughout the whole story. I look forward to reading more from them. <3

Interesting short is a little rough

The writing is a little rough. The pacing is clearly intended to be fast, given the action of the story, but it's dragged down by the big words and complicated sentence structure. Also the exposition comes in choppy bits. The background info is important, but it could have been integrated better.

she is in a human ruled land and she is an elf. She needs to keep her girl and her wife safe. Can she do it? Can she find a safe place for them? Will the human let free? Follow the to see if they can find a place to call home
