The year is 2076, and mankind has perfected VR technology, using the Chip, an implant that interfaces directly with the human brain, using it like an organic computer. Age of Anarchy Online (AAO) is the newest game released by Icestorm, makers of the legendary World of Destiny (WoD). Unlike VR games before it, AAO promises a 110% 'Better Than Life' realism experience, and to showcase this, Icestorm announces that AAO will have no 'Out of Character' rules, save for actions like hacking or exploiting system errors. Players can do anything to NPCs and even other players, and there will be no consequences save what one may suffer in game. "Do what thou wilt, but it may be done to you in turn." Mike Greene, better known in WoD as Torgan, a max level Paladin and leader of the Lords of Light, one of the top 'light side' guilds in WoD, now sets off on a new adventure in AAO. -------------------- Author's If you haven't guessed, there's going to be all kinds of nastiness in this story. Violence, language, racism, sexism, sex, gore, vore, and more! If you have triggers of any kind, this is your warning. If you're looking for a nice, heartwarming tale like Sword Art Online, keep looking. There will be 'good guys' as well, but this is a story where Might IS Right. However, if you've read Watchmen and Wanted, and like what you read (READ, not the movies!), then you just may find this story in your strike zone. And for f*ck's sake, this is just a story! Don't take this as an endorsement of any of the actions in this story. **This is the complete edition of Rules-Free VRMMO Life, volumes 1-20, all in one ebook.**
I'm a rookie author, looking to write stories that I enjoy writing. Not gonna get awards, but honestly, I'm happy with each and every person that reads my work.
Stuart is a sci-fi and anime geek, who dabbles in tabletop and video gaming. He enjoys cosplaying and has gone to DragonCon annually since 2009. Frozen Soul is his first book.
It is a sad, sad day when you finally break down and realize that you will never have the life you wanted, never do the things you wished to do, and never see the things you wanted to see. All because of a stupid lack of lightsabers.
I was a 26 y/o college student at Armstrong Atlantic State University, as a theater major. Went to school for a while before, dropped out, tried to go back, dropped out.. Not much to say other than the fact that I'm a laid back guy, and the only drama I like is the kind that's on the stage.
If I act like an idiot, or do anything to offend you, chances are it is not intentional, and I'm being oblivious. In that case, hit me upside the head, and tell me, because I don't catch subtle hints.
I got to 35 percent on this book, and after leaving it for a month or so, hoping I'd develop a tollerance for it again, I tried again to read more in this book, and I just can't do it. I'm sure others will have different experiences, but I'm not wasting anymore of my time on this one. It's just not my style, no matter how hard I try to read it anyway. Sorry folks, can't give meaningful feedback on this one other than if you're not into idiots acting like they own the world, and treating women as less than objects, you don't want to bother with this one.
This series is not for everyone. It deals with some really dark themes. That said, if you do possess the right humor, dark, and don’t mind mature, socially unacceptable actions then it is a lot of fun. Obviously I am such an individual.
I do actually disagree that the protagonist is a villain. He is evil yes, in game that is, in the few brief IRL segments he is just a regular guy for the most part. He has just decided in this new game to play with no restrictions on his behavior that he doesn’t pick for himself.
Along the way he gathers both friends and enemies and has a lot of fun along the way.
This is a litrpg with a very OP character. And it does have a lot of stat blocks although I would have liked a few more of his main character stats than we see.
All in all, I really enjoyed this book. It turns things on their head when the MC decides to go against type and be evil.
One minor criticism is the heavy use of unoriginal deities. They were lifted whole cloth from Dungeons and Dragons as best I can tell. But that minor quibble aside, I think this is a really great read. Again, I can not stress enough this is NOT for everyone. It is very dark in tone and is heavy on taboo subjects such as slavery, nonconcensual sex, and cannibalism, those are all major themes. If you are a person who can cope with those themes, then I highly recommend this. I loved it.
This was an undertaking, the length is no joke. And by the end, feelings were mixed. Here's why. . .
This is exactly what it says it is. It does not hold back, it does not care about the concept of taboo. It never lied to you, and warns you to read at your own risk. If you are fine with that then this is everything you want in a story and more. The breadth of this adventure grabs you and carries you through till the end. As you approach that ending you find yourself hesitating because you do not want it to end. You want to keep reading about these people and see what else they can do. What more can you ask of a storyteller? I was sad that it ended, but I was satisfied with how it finished.
This is LitRPG story of impressive length, scope, and depth — much like Zayne Darkmore, the MC, himself. There are oblique connections to other series Mr. Grosse has penned which pop up as Easter eggs for those familiar with his other works.
There are a few problems with the text: missing prepositions and articles, words which appear to be accidental inserts into sentences, and punctuation errors (or a writing style that is like nothing I've seen before this year [2025]). Despite the errors, Grosse has crafted an engrossing (pun intended!) tale of an unrepentant villain who is as unrelenting in his personal honesty as he is in his collection of beautiful women for his harem.
Initially, it started sounding like sad D&D fanfic. Lots of really warped sex and depravity. However, it grew into an impressive work of adventure and, from a certain point of view, a rather meaningful outlook on life in general. Seriously not for the faint or prudish, but an excellent adventure!
I've been reading this story since it came out on Royal road can't say if it 4 everyone but I like it I like the RPG aspects and I'd like the story overall who can't get enough of sex and violence bread into the story it's not over welcome or under welcomed it just part of the story this is what this guy is this is why he is
This is a game I can get behind, as long as I have Zayne’s reincarnation bonuses. 3rd reread, 1st with this total compilation. As always I wish for more and am thankful this character is cameo worthy for the authors other novels. Read this and you won’t be disappointed if you dig the evil mc narrative.
Very entertaining to see the evil side, expect what is to be expected from the overpowered character on a world where slaves are common.. Lots gratuitous sex and violence but it kept me entertained although a bit cliched at times. Unfortunately there's no audio version past chapter 8...
This review is after listening up to chapter 8, will update later.
Probably the best portrayal of the Evil character I've ever read. This is not for the faint of heart but if you can read while giving it a fair chance you'll definitely find it's one of the funniest action packed stories you'll ever read
Amazing take on VR and amazing adventures of the power of the dark
Loved the overall theme of the story and following Zayn’s adventures though wish we could have a little more RL interactions especially with Zayn’s traveler in-game slaves.
Gotta admit that some points in the book it gets pretty craaaazy… But on the same note I wanna say so many factors like the character finally doing what they want are checked off. Fun trip
I enjoyed reading this complete series. While the glorification and celebration of rape was disturbing, the story and characters were interesting and entertaining. This series is worth checking out.
I'm a huge LitRPG fan. This series takes the best aspects of a LitRPG and puts Harem genre elements. If you don't want want a book like that then you don't want this. If that sounds awesome to you, then you must read this. It is an omnibus of the series. Apparently it's orginally a web series, hence the 20 parts. Couldn't put it down. Highly recommend to anyone who wants a more mature take on a LitRPG.
A light hearted well written story that keeps you turning the pages. Will worth a read of you enjoy this genre or even if you just fancy reading something new
Really solid writing. One I picked it JP I couldn't seem to it down. Kind of hope he decides to go back to this world. Feels like lots of stories left untold.
Rather more evil and dark than I sort of expected, but if you get past the occasional cannibalism moment, which I nearly didn't do, this is well written, interesting, and there is a surprising amount of depth and reasonableness to our evil man. Yes, deeply evil to those who cross him, but very dedicated to those that are on his side, and that he feels loyalty towards.
I read this story a while ago and loved it. Upon my re-read I fell more in love with it and only slightly sadden it has ended since it ended in a good way. I loved that our ND wasn't some goody-good two shoes. And I thoroughly enjoyed the time I spent reading this story.
