My granddaughter Evie loved this book when we read it, probably because her name is the same as the girl in this wild tale.

Evie, the Strawberry Fairy, has a special entry for the strawberry fair contest. Along the journey to reach the fair, she stops to help a lot of other creatures and loses her contest entry. When she arrives at the fair, she has nothing to contribute, but some friends might be able to save the day!

I loved this imaginative book! The sweet story and the lovely characters made the whole book adorable! Evie's character is so cute and funny. I fell in love with her right away, and was truly interested in all the ups and downs of her journey to the strawberry fair. She is so good-natured and generous.

The artwork is enchanting with soft lines and beautiful colors. I loved all the little details in the background of each scene that add so much depth to the story. Fairy houses, little gardens, flowers, and tiny bugs and magic creatures all dot the landscape in various places, and add to the charm of this magical fairy world.

I also love the subtle message that when you are generous with others, you will be rewarded for your kindness. I love books that have a positive message without being preachy.

This book is absolutely captivating! I can't wait to share this with my little nieces!

Evie and the Strawberry Balloon Ride is the second book in the Evie the Strawberry Fairy series.

This is a whimsical picture book that tells the story of a fairy named Evie. Evie lives in an old teapot house.

Faye the Forest Fairy is holding a strawberry fair competition and Evie’s determined to win the first prize at the Strawberry Fair with her strawberry hot-air balloon. She designed her ballon by stitching together pieces of fabric from her old strawberry tent and tied to a big laundry basket.

On the way to the competition, she stops to help the creatures of Wildberry Acres— robin, a pixie, and an old hare.

By the time she gets to the fair, she realizes she has no cake or her hot-air balloon to enter into the competition. She bursts into tears when Faye the Forest Fairy calls Evie to showcase her design. Teary-eyed, Evie explains why she can’t participate in the competition—her balloon got stuck and she gave her cake to a hungry hare.

Just then her friends show up and save the day.

A charming story about kindness and encourages children to help others. The illustrations accompanying the story are beautiful. Perfect for children.

Many thanks to Stefanie Dahle, Edelweiss plus, and Floris Books for a copy of this book

Infused with a positive message about how to treat others, this picture book, the second in a series, features a likable protagonist in Evie, who is a Strawberry Fairy. While I'd never heard of such a creature, it does make sense since strawberries are so very sweet, delicious, and could be considered ideal food for fairies. Evie bakes a yummy strawberry cake and sews a hot-air balloon from a tent and a laundry basket and sets off for a competition at a fair. But a series of mishaps causes problems with the balloon, and Evie ends up helping a robin, a pixie, and a hare but giving up her cake for the competition while doing so. Although she's disappointed to have nothing to enter, Evie still tries to have fun. But readers need fear not since those animals Evie had befriended turn up with her balloon and stories of her generosity. Created with pencils, watercolors, and gouache, the hand-drawn illustrations complement the book with its reminder that helping others when they need a hand just might be more important than winning. The book was originally published in German.

Beautiful book.
This book is beautiful inside and out. That's the first thing a reader will notice. The artwork is incredible. It mixes an adorable style with one that's more artistic and what you get are images you'll want to stare at, picking up each part.
Evie wants to win at the Strawberry Fair and has just the hot air balloon to make that happen. But on her way there, animals need her help and she refuses to say no to someone in need.
I appreciate this book so much because Evie has a kind heart. There isn't a bratty bone in her body and it's refreshing to read a story like that with my niece (whose name is Evie--so of course, she loved it). In the end, the forest creatures come through for Evie and she's rewarded for her kindness, showing that good things do happen to good people.
The story is a bit wordy, so it's not for the younger kids, but perfect for a six-year-old, keeping her attention throughout.
This was just a lovely book that is sure to become a favorite with kids.

Standard picture book fair: cute fairy who is generous and is rewarded for her generosity. Nothing new or exciting. Pretty pictures, and would be good for children who like fairy stories.

The most delightful story that is sure to give you the sweetest dreams. Evie the Strawberry Fairy receives notification of a strawberry fair taking place. She gets planning her entry with a wonderful strawberry cake and an incredible balloon. On her way to the fair she encounters several creatures who are in need of help and by the time she arrives at the fair she has nothing to showcase. However, her kindness is rewarded by the community in the most lovely way.

My daughter (Floss) loves to read the words for the character of Bella as I read the rest of the story. There's more text than a typical 'picture book' which Floss loves as she likes a more meaty story. The illustrations are wonderful and whimsical. Our favourite image is of the old hare with his glasses. The balloon is spectacular and it was lovely that the balloon was tethered to Evie's fabulous teapot house!

There's a very classical, traditional feel to the book yet you know that the book must be modern as the images show newer materials being used alongside natural objects. In one spread the boat belonging to a tiny pixie is comprised of two plastic bottles. It's images such as this that make me think of one of my favourite books as a child - The Borrowers. As a child of the 80s the book also makes me reminisce about my love for Strawberry Shortcake! There are two more in the series published by Floris Books and we adore them all.

The ideal book for kind, gentle fairy lovers who treasure being out in nature and the magic of the natural world.
