This book is the second book in the 'Jigsaw Files' series by Sharon Sala. As usual it is an excellent read and as good as the first in the series. Charlie Dodge and Wyrick return and are hired for a heart-breaking case. A young girl has been kidnapped by her absentee father and 'donated' to a cult who are trying to breed a super-psychic race of children. Things get pretty intense and time is running short for the young girls being held against their will. Readers will love reading about Charlie and Wyrick working together again. Wyrick is discovering more of her skills and Charlie is still dealing with his wife's Alzheimer's. Their characters make the story but the star of the show is 12-year-old Jordan Bien, the kidnap victim. Her defiance and leadership in the face of fear and abuse are an inspiration. There are several touching scenes in the book and some upsetting ones as well. I would highly recommend this book. It would be a good idea to read the first in the series for more background.

Since my 1st book by Sharon Sala, King’s Ransom, I have been hooked on all of her books.
Second Sight was an equally amazing book which throughly captivated me from start to finish.
Sharon Sala always picks current topic’s that are actually probable and/or really happening In our world today.
This one is no exception!!!!

What would you do if your absentee dad showed up and kidnaped you, only to end up in a dangerous cult-like compound?
As a mother, what would you do when you find your ex-husband has abducted your daughter?
This case hit close to home for both Charlie Dodge and his assistant Wyrick. They will not give up until Tara and Jordan are reunited and this cult is taken down.

This was one fast paced rollercoaster ride.
It just might be my favorite book by Ms. Sala, yet!!
I highly recommend it to all who love a great action packed suspense.

Charlie, a PI, and his assistant Wyrick are hired to find a missing 12-year old girl. Wyrick makes Charlie's coffee and changes the sheets on his office bed, but it's not clear why: she owns several companies and is worth hundreds of millions of dollars. She's also psychic, as are the missing girl and half the characters in the book, which really makes avoiding injury and death so much easier.

Jordan's estranged father has kidnapped her and is taking her to a cult where pre-pubescent girls are preparing to be picked as the wives of middle-aged men. The cost of entry for a man is his own daughter.

Charlie and Wyrick have the hots for each other, but undeclared, since Charlie's wife is in a care facility with early onset Alzheimers. Wyrick is a bald, double-mastectomied cancer survivor. I've never seen characters eat so much candy and soda. Every three pages they were whipping out candy bars and bags of M&M's. Yet they're both solid muscle and always sneaking looks at the other one's rock-hard stomach or shoulders.

The back cover says the characters head to "the mountains of West Virginia..." Oof. Not really. The cult compound is in Kentucky (which is referenced repeatedly). Do editors and publishers not read their own books?

I absolutely can't get enough of Charlie and Wyrick! The Jigsaw Files series has got to be one of the best. Charlie's love and devotion to his wife Annie is beautiful and heartbreaking. I also think a while lot of us would like to be a badass like Wyrick. This book is assume.

Just as good as the first. Charlie and Wyrick are still total badasses.

In this one Charlie is hired to find a girl who is kidnapped by her father (who is in a cult) and taken to the cult compound to become a "wife" to one of the cult members. The girl, Jordan, is just 12 years old and she is not the only one, as she discovers to her horror when she arrives there.

Normally, I'd shy away from a storyline like this. I have very low tolerance for pedo cultists. But this one was not bad. Jordan acts a super catalyst for change and empowerment of the other girls becaue she has one big advantage they don't -- she was able to send a text to her mother before she was whisked. We get a lot of face time with Jordan and the other girls and Jordan is a little warrior queen! Also this one leans more into its this series' science fictiony aspect that was kinda alluded to in the previous book. In this some of the characters have bona-fide psychic abilities.

Also fun is the fact because of Charlie and Wyrick, the FBI are brought on pretty quickly and things really move as they plot, plan and finally move in to take down the compound. And the rescue is done within the first 3/4 of the book. The last 1/4 is dedicated to a lot of aftermath. I hate when suspense books end abruptly right after the bad guys are caught. Not we get a good amount of book left and get to follow key characters after the cult is brought down.

On a more person front, Charlie is worried and sad about his beloved wife Annie whose early onset Alzheimer's is progressing a lot faster than he anticipated. She is slipping away even faster.

As far as Wyrick goes, she is still an alpha female Übermensch.

What a wild ride. The book takes place over the span of a few days and deals with a cult of psychics. Charlie and Jade are hired to find a missing child who has been taken by her dad to a cult. It’s a race against time to rescue her and the other children they discover. Jordan is an absolute Warrior and does not back down not even from her father nor in the face of danger. Her bravery does the deeds of dissent among the other children who realize they also have power.

Really great main characters, Charlie and Wyrick, make this book something special. The same was true of the first one in the series. I loved reading about them again in this one. The storyline of a cult of psychic men that takes and marries young girls was very disturbing and interesting. This one really held my attention and I thought it was very well done.

Jordan Bien doesn’t speak or behave like a typical 12 years old child. Of course, there’s nothing ordinary about her as she had psychic abilities and her thoughts processes like a 20 year old.

I cannot imagine how a father would lie and drug his daughter and sacrifice her to a cult in order to marry a younger pure child/teenager. This is too warped for me to comprehend and I wish them the worst.

We have Charlie and Wyrick and they are the team you want on your side in such a crisis and they never fails to deliver. i love their banter and partnership and the love Charlie have for his wife Annie who has early onset Alzheimer’s. I can’t believe I’ve only found Sharon Sala last year and I’m enjoying her books way too much.

Another good read in The Jigsaw Files series. Charlie and Wyrick are searching for a missing girl, and along the way the FBI joins in and they work together to rescue her. (...and others.) This story has been reviewed many times on GR already, so I don't need to rehash it. Just like in the first book, I really liked the main characters. On to book #3.

After having read SECOND SIGHT (my first ever book by author Sharon Sala ) I could kick myself in the butt for never having read her before! The unbelievable story line, the characterizations, and of course my new favorite heroine Wyrick – Wow - Wow - Wow!

Charlie Dodge is one hell of a private eye and can take his pick of cases. He carries a very personal burden of caring for his beloved wife who is dealing with early onset Alzheimers. But when he gets a phone call from a frantic woman stating her daughter has been kidnapped by her ex-husband. He is more than ready to take on the case especially when his partner Wyrick discovers the daughter was taken into a cult called Fourth Dimension. The cult’s rumored purpose is to gather men with psychic abilities with the goal of breeding a race of people who have supernatural powers. Once accepted into the cult, men are given a young girl to marry in exchange for one of their own daughters.

The FBI had been monitoring the cult’s activities, but Charlie and his assistant, Wyrick, aren’t bound by the same rules as the feds. They head to the mountains of West Virginia to infiltrate the cult’s compound. The lives of children are at stake, and Charlie and Wyrick will risk all to destroy the cult and its leader—no matter the cost—because this case is personal.

I simply loved Wyrick - such a mysterious, brilliant, bad-ass with an amazing get-it-done attitude! Not to mention kind, considerate, nasty, generous, outlandish and just a little bit in love with Charlie who has no idea! Now this is not to say Charlie is a slouch but together, they are like Batman and Robin! Charlie and Wyrick tracked down the cult, but taking them down before their manic insanity of being caught would lead them to do the unthinkable would require perfect timing.

The action, the suspense and the story was top notch and Wyrick is definitely a character I want to learn more about! This is a Highly Recommended Crime Suspense read and Sharon Sala is going to be both a catch-up and auto-buy author for me!!

This new series by Ms. Sala is amazing and a must read! In this second book, P.I. Charlie Dodge is asked to locate a young girl who was abducted by her father, Jud. Charlie believes that Jud has taken her to Fourth Dimension, a psychic cult. In order to wed and increase their population, a man must provide a young female from his family line. His daughter, Jordan, has psychic tendencies and is to replace the young girl that Jud plans to wed. Meanwhile, Charlie continues to deal with the heart wrenching advancement of his wife’s Alzheimer’s. Charlie’s assistant, Wyrick, once again steps in and works her magic to track down the location of the cult. To say that Wyrick is unique would be an understatement. Jordan is a strong character, determined to escape and make things as difficult as possible for the cult. The race is on to not only rescue her, but the other girls as well. A thrill ride from beginning to end. I highly recommend any book that Ms. Sala has written and can’t wait for the third book (and hopefully more?). (by paytonpuppy)

4.5 ***

This was the second book in the Jigsaw Files series. Charlie Dodge and Wyrick are investigating the kidnapping of a young girl by her father. As the info is revealed it's clear the girl is in danger. Her father is part of a psychic cult and before he can marry is own child bride he has to donate a young female family member. More is revealed about Wyrick and her own abilities. Charlie's wife is declining at an alarming rate.

I thought the author did a good job depicting 12 year old Jordan. She would have come across a bit too adult except for the occasional reminder that the girl was afraid of the situation she found herself in but convinced herself to be more like Wonder Woman and stand up for herself.

I found these books so easy to read. I enjoyed the characters and the stories. The plot flowed well without being gruesome or overly dramatic.

I'm sure I'll read these books again. Can't wait for Charlie and Wyrick's next adventure.

3.5-star read

Charlie Dodge is a private investigator from Dallas, Texas. He's also former military and dealing with the fact that his wife of twenty years is lost to him due to early-onset Alzheimer's disease. Charlie's business associate/partner is Jade Wyrick, a tall, bald fashionista that has had a double mastectomy and now proudly sports an intriguing tattoo that covers her chest and part of her back. Without makeup, Wyrick (she doesn't answer to Jade), might resemble a trans-woman and she's quite used to the prejudice and bigotry associated with her looks. Oops, almost forgot to mention that Wyrick is also Mensa-certified genius, a computer programmer extraordinaire, a multi-millionaire business owner (she writes and sells computer games), a pilot, a psychic (remember that because it's important), and a good friend to have around. She's saved Charlie more times than he can count.

Dodge Security and Investigations has become quite well-known after their last case which involved finding and saving the life of a millionaire business owner from Denver. Wyrick has set up their new offices (their last office blew up...if you want to know more, read The Missing Piece), she also prioritizes possible new cases and front-and-center is a case of the missing child of a local attorney. When the woman comes into the office and provides Charlie and Wyrick with some more details and they begin their investigation, they quickly realize this is not an ordinary parental abduction case. Twelve-year-old Jordan Bien was taken by her father, Judson Bien just so he could exchange her and receive his own "bride" in a psychic cult known as the Fourth Dimension. This cult's goal is to marry psychics with psychic-offspring to breed more psychics. The only problem is that these psychic men are "marrying" children aged 12-14 against their will. The question now is even with this information and Wyrick's psychic abilities, will they be able to locate Jordan and this cult's camp and free not just Jordan but all of the kidnapped girls before something horrible happens?

For those of you that have been following me for a while now, you know that I enjoy reading romantic-suspense. I have quite a number of favorite authors and yes, Sharon Sala is one of them. Second Sight is the second book in the Jigsaw Files series and it is just as much about Charlie Dodge as it is about Jade Wyrick and their growing relationship and attraction. (The first book in this series is The Missing Piece and I strongly encourage you to read that one before you grab a copy of Second Sight to read.) Charlie and Wyrick have tracked down the cult and are working with the FBI, but things don't work out quite as well as hoped with their partnership (read the story to learn more). Jordan is dealing with her kidnappers in a unique way especially considering she's a young girl and far from home. Both Jordan and Wyrick are intelligent and strong females that don't take any guff from anyone especially males. Basically, they don't conform to the notion of the weak female and this causes a lot of problems for both of these ladies in expected and unexpected ways. There's a lot of action in Second Sight and some of it is by behind-the-scenes players. There are obviously bad guys, the psychics kidnapping and marrying "child brides," but there are also really bad guys. Jordan, Wyrick, and Charlie are the good guys and they're all definitely ready to fight. Yes, there's a lot more going on in this story and no, I'm not going to tell you about everything, read the book! I found Second Sight to be a riveting read and even though I was dealing with a migraine and some vision issues that slowed down my reading, I read this book in one day. I highly recommend this book and series to all readers of romance and romantic-suspense and am looking forward to finding out what's next for Wyrick and Charlie. (If you can't tell, I really like and admire Wyrick. She's part Lizbeth Salander, part Wonder Woman, part Captain Marvel, and part Marie Curie with a lot more facets all rolled into one. Okay, I also like Charlie as well as the dynamic between the two.) Now, go grab a copy of The Missing Piece if you haven't already read it and add Second Sight to your TBR list.

Happy Reading!

The cult has their members bring in a girl with abilities to become the wives of the men so that they can make a new generation of powerful psychic abilities. Wyrick’s abilities come into play when she flies them to their destination. They hook up with the FBI who have been looking into the cult for awhile now. It’s decided to work together and Wyrick’s new drone prototype is used to get some surveillance on the cult compound. The FBI tries to get their hands on the drone but Wyrick outsmarts the. The girl they’ve come to save isn’t making it easy for the cult and the leader. She won’t just roll over and go along with everything they want. It really makes the leader angry and he takes it out on her. It shows the members and other girls waiting to be wed that the leader isn’t as in control of things as they think he is. The girl’s father realizes shortly after bringing her to the cult that he’s made a mistake. When he tries to protect his daughter, he’s given an ultimatum. He leaves the cult and turns against the cult. A plan comes together to rescue all the girls. Wyrick realizes that her computer program has been used for security and that the company that used her for research is behind the cult. She gets the information needed to follow the money to the man behind it all. Wyrick tells them about the possible psychic connection to the cult. The plan is a success. Charlie keeps all the young girls save while the FBI took care of the cult. Wyrick comes and gives the information to the leader of the FBI and tells him to investigate it as soon as possible. She picks up Charlie and the girl they were sent to rescue. They start their trip to Lexington to meet up with the mother. The girl realizes her life will never be the same and she won’t be the same person she was before. They make sure the mother realizes it as well, Charlie is trying to ignore the budding feelings he’s having for Wyrick. A visit to Ann has Charlie more convinced than ever that the end is going to be coming soon. The FBI keep Charlie apprised of what is going on with the investigation. The FBI isn’t fast enough when it comes to looking into the information Wyrick provided. They come home to move on to their next case.
Sharon Sala’s new series is filled with suspense, a very dangerous enemy looking to take over the world. Hints of psychic ability, a determined hero and his trusted mysterious assistant who’s a rich genius combine to make a story that’s captivating and keeps you wondering. I’m looking forward to the next piece of the series and fitting it into the Jigsaw Files puzzle.

Child kidnapping/Psychics

Jordan's father is psychic and she is too. Her parents are divorced and after he has been absent from Jordan's love for two years, he shows up telling her he is taking her to his hotel overnight and will contact her mother, his ex-wife Tara. Little does he know but Jordan we t her mother a text as her dad never called her. Her dad then takes her cell phone and charged and puts it under her pillow instead of in the overnight bag Jordan had packed. It didn't take long for Jordan to realize her dad kidnapped her and was not taking her to a hotel. Her dad was involved with a cult and Jordan was supposed to be his sacrifice so he could take one of the other young girls as his bride. You will not be able to put this book down once you start reading it, Sharon Sala. keeps you sitting on the edge of your seat wanting to know how the book ends!

I’m enjoying this series, but can someone please explain to me why Charlie and Wyrick flew her chopper to Phoenix but DROVE to Lexington? I can’t fathom how it was quicker to drive there, especially since I did a little direction finder online and it’s relatively the same distance to both places. Additionally, they did a piss poor job keeping in touch with Tara in the search for Jordan initially.

This topic was creepy. I don’t like all of the crazy makeup Wyrick keeps hiding behind. I also am still a little confused about how long Wyrick has been working for Charlie before this series started. I am not sure I’m buying Charlie’s interest in Wyrick at this particular moment, and how he all of a sudden realizes she has all these crazy abilities. Seems like he would have noticed them a time or two before now?

I could copy and paste My Review of Book 1 The Missing Piece right here because everything expressed and shared there remained solidly true! Such an amazing book with lovable and admirable heroes, the PI Charlie Dodge and his one-of-a-kind billionaire, his assistant, Jade Wyrick.

I didn't think I'd enjoy any books dealing with any cult or brainwashing theme of any kind. But this story was different because of the amazing Charlie and Wyrick team; the Dodge Security and Investigation Agency. Yes, the book was still heart breaking to read, yet so captivating and gripping. Sharing one of my favorite scenes:

When Charlie stopped at the gate and got out, Wyrick wondered what he was doing until she saw him taking pictures of the empty compound, and then she understood. One more picture for Jordan.

This is how justice is supposed to work. All the good people get rescued. All the bad ones go to jail.

Once Charlie was back behind the wheel, he glanced up in the rearview mirror.

"Are you ready to talk to your mother now?"

Jordan nodded.

Oh I loved this one! I listened to the audio book most of the time ( I didn’t want to put down the book, so when I had no choice I switched to the audio book and then stuck with it) and the narrator was so great. The voice of Charlie!!! Oh, that’s a voice I could listen to for a long time. Anyway, I adored Jordan. Sometimes she seemed older than 12, but when you add in her physic powers and the stubbornness of a 12 year old girl, it worked. It goes to show that if one person has the courage to resist and stand up to what is wrong, it gives others the courage to do so as well. The storyline was fast paced through out the book and I never got bored. Charlie and Wyrick are still a favorite! Clean-ish: occasional language, not excessive.

Received an ARC courtesy of the publisher via Edelweiss

I had not read the first book in the series, and I was able to follow the story as if it was a stand alone. I do plan to go back and read the first book.

I have read other books by Sharon Sala, and this one had less of an emphasis on romance. It was more of a thriller. I liked the main characters and their strength.

My one semi-negative... There are hints that Charlie and Wyrick might have feelings for each other beyond colleagues. However, he has a wife with early onset Alzheimer's. I cannot root for a relationship because of this.

Jordan Bien was taken from her mother's home by her father. He was a psychic who was part of a cult to breed more psychics. If you donated his daughter he could marry the person who has chosen. When Jordan's mom realizes that he has kidnapped her, she hired Charlie Dodge to find her. With his assistant and Jordan's mom they were able to find out where the cult was located. So Charlie and Wyrick head to Kentucky to find Jordan and free her from the cult. The FBI gets involved and together they are able to infiltrate the Fourth Dimension. Jordan was a hero in the eyes of the other girls who had been kidnapped by family members to get married to these men.

Great characters

I fell in love with the two main characters in this series! The tough former Special Forces member turned private detective/security and his assistant who is a genius with an interesting background that slowly is revealed. In this story that are hired to find a 12 year old girl who was abducted by her father and is being traded for a teen wife in a cult. While there is violence a huge portion of what these young children experience is verbally shared rather than the writer having us experience it happening.
I could read more about these two characters and definitely NOT get bored!
