I fell in Love with Novoneel’s writing after reading this one. Also, one of the most captivating prologues which keep you bound until the end. I was seriously surprised how come so many negative reviews and the shocking thing why CB’s writing are appreciated more? The very first anonymous exchange clutched me never fading those carved marks on my heart. “Is there any festival which can be celebrated every day and not once a year?” Asked the girl. “Wait till you fall in love with me.” Replied the boy. Definitely, story-line is a bit off-track but not completely swayed away like other stories, with evergreen happy endings. Those quotations after reading each one my heart literally leaped out of rib-cage longing for a love-life. (*Rarely happening scenario) Love is the reason to remain sane all life and yet it is an excuse to be insane in all the moments that make up a life. Moving on to the main characters: Pallavi Vimani: Her image being portrayed as spoil-brat is profoundly reversed when she finally acquires a chance to be with the love of her life. She is completely crazy, selfish, manipulative bitch and straightforward one with guts. Swadha Kashyap: Lady with traumatized childhood keeps on fighting her perplexing feelings reserved for her boss. Her encounters with him are at point completely hilarious ones. AND ULTIMATELY THE HAASIL SINHA: I wish I had a boyfriend with these every single quality of him, completely adorable one who makes me fall more every single second. And of course, his love for his wife is unfathomable. Our story began not when we came into each other’s life. It began from the time when life happened to us. We are not only made for each other but were thought for each other too. And my exact feelings reading this sentence were: Arguing on “Love”, always has endless complicating, frustrating reasons, why can’t we keep it simpler as the sunrises and sunsets. Feelings are the only things which human nature can’t hold or control. Flowing with them makes things much easier rather than discarding or trying to erase them. Love is simple, endless, eternize, and why contaminate it with complications, lust, misunderstandings, or attractions?
P.S.: Well, Novoneel owes the book to the veins. The predictable Goosebumps and twists sing to you as a long sad tale. It kicks the difference between love, lust, and desires which reminds me of:
the story line was perfect...all d characters were really sharp n attractive.....a book that takes a while for u to understand n ones u do u ganna love it...its a treat worthwhile....
I'm still having the hangover... "Pallavi" is brilliant...the characters are like real flesh n blood...but want some brighter hues of life...it made me feel only the "grey"...life is not all about gloom.
Thanks a lot for giving the chance 2 experience such instances...
This book would be close to my heart, forever. Some books reside in your mind rent-free, visit you in late night thoughts, this is one of them.
I would give this book 4 stars out of 5.
⭐- The characters are nuanced, flawed. Perfect in an imperfect way. I related with Swadha so much that at a point it felt like I was inside the novel, itself. Breathing through her breaths, acting through her actions.
⭐- The emotions were realistic, logical. No extra elaborations, no overracting. Just the raw, uncut version of the feelings.
⭐- The writing style was so spectacular that you can feel the quotes seeping, embedding in your soul.
⭐- The main reason of loving this book was that it matched with my definition of love to a great extent.
⭐🚫- Too short! I wanted more of them 😭.
🐱- It's not a mere love story, neither a love triangle. It's not something I can describe.
🐱- A must read for all those who believe in the existence of love beyond the physical barriers. It's not about always getting him close, it's about never forgetting him.
I liked the love quote part or whatever it can be said... I hate pallavi she z really f*#ked up am not a favourite of her character and truly not feeling for her f*#ked up life. on other hand swedha was left alone with all her love, it gives some soft corner for her. Haasil... was perfectly sculpted by his character. I was impressed by him with the hurt with pallavi. I really feel sorry for him. Nitin is a twister of story but not a bad guy he just wants his friend to be alive and happy. totally... it worth a read for once.
Ok ok stuff... nothing new or turn around story... carrying a spoiled urban life imprint on few scared hearted people... it is possible that I, being a middle class tier 2 type perceptive value holder, too harsh and too judgmental but the story doesn't correlate or touch me... Swadha sweet girl,, pallavi chatur naar karke singaar,,, haasil (that breed which doesn't exist)...
The story just starts and ends. Honestly there is no depth in the book. Author did try to bring some but completely failed. One guy and three mad girls. Please lord think something better.

▪It is very difficult to write a review for a book of my favorite author because I am little bit confused where to start and what to include.
◽Let's start with cover first. The cover has been designed beautifully where a couple is kissing in rain under the red umbrella.
◽Title is subtle, good. Narration is lucid and engaging. Language is moderate, neither simple nor very complex.
◽I must praise author's skill and writing. The author has provided quotes whenever necessary to get a grip on the book.
◽Beginning is little boring but as you keep reading the book, you like it because the characters are well-developed and described.
◽The twist and turns were shocking and the climax is unpredictable so it definitely holds your attention that makes you want to finish as soon as possible.
That Kiss in the rain is the contemporary romance book of around 240 pages. The language of the book is beginner friendly.
This story is about protagonist, Pallavi, an air hostress who belives to live her life freely. She enjoys every part of her life keeping her childhood love Dino in her heart. She was unlucky enough that he was already committed with Someone. Life goes on and then she met someone named Nitin at Airport who introduced Haasil to her when her life got changed completely.
Haasil on the other hand is a successful and hardworking entrepreneur who met with an accident recently and lost his wife, Palki. That accident resulted in his memory loss. How pallavi’s life got changed after meeting Haasil and how Haasil handles his memory loss? Will Haasil be able to move on in his life?
The storyline is engaging and no doubt, I read this book in one sitting. The characterisation is also good but I still find some lack at Haasil’s part. I like the way author showed friendship between Nitin and Haasil. ‘True love is going to find you way back, if destiny wants you two be together then nothing can stop it’ is beautifully justified with this story. The ending is incomplete where author will soon be releasing the sequel and after reading this I am eagerly waiting for it’s second part!
The book seems very naive. And pivoting back to the original point, the author seems to have used dictionary. Com for some words and now there are no high almighty words like that. Words that people don't use in everyday life but are used casually in this book.
The story seems to follow a young girl's journey, but there's so much more focus on her menstrual health, on her sex, one does wonder what's going on. There's little emotional focus or anything that might suggest the writer is intent on the development of the character
I read halfway through it and stopped. The book highlighted one woman and it seemed to be written from a man’s perspective. From the rape of one woman to the exploitation of another, there was little to no mention of the men’s problems, at all. Instead, the man was portrayed to be this innocent accident victim, while all women are portrayed as cunning. It would’ve been fine tbh if not for the constant reference to the female sex. Either a rape or a rape drug or periods or something else. It just felt like a non-contributing factor to the story too making me wonder why the author has added this. Definitely don’t recommend
So, on the same day, I am done reading Novoneel Chakraborty's second novel- That Kiss in the Rain. This is a 204 pages novel which also has the tagline- "Love is the weather of life". This book is yet another book by Srishti Publication while Novoneel C is one of those writers who turned Bestseller with Srishti and later left it for Random House Publication at the time when his 3rd book was about to come in market. Novoneel has surprisingly done very well since the start of his writing career. It's just that he is little cut off from the social world that is making his fans get little disloyal towards him. I hope he interacts with his fans more often that he does. Let me give his introduction once again- Novoneel Chakraborty has written three bestselling novels. He also writes screenplays. As a screenwriter, he has collaborated with a National Award winning filmmaker from Bengal. His other novels are - A Thing Beyond Forever - The Reward For Every True Love is Not Love..., and How About A Sin Tonight? The author also works as a scriptwriter for the Hindi film industry. He maintains a blog called Novosphere, which he regularly updates with his writings and updates on his novels.
Coming to the synopsis of the book- Hasil is a young businessman, who had everything he wanted in life. He had married the girl he loved, and the business he had started with his friend Nitin is going well. Then, his world turns upside down when he is involved in an accident in which he loses his beloved wife, and also loses his memory.
The story of That Kiss In The Rain..: Love Is The Weather Of Life begins when his friend Nitin visits him at the hospital. Talking to him, Nitin soon realizes that Hasil has lost his memory and does not know that his wife is dead. Nitin decides that it is better not to reveal that fact to him. He helps Hasil realize who he is and comes up with various explanations for his wife’s absence.
Meanwhile, Hasil has to get on with his life. But his life is different as he keeps wondering about Palki. Two other women enter his life. Pallavi, a girl who was adopted by a rich family, and Swadha, who was rejected by her family because she is a female.
These two women could not be more different, and their contrasting characters are highlighted by the author.
Pallavi had loved and lost once. This failed romance makes her believe that it has killed her capability to truly fall in love again.
Swadha is a simple girl with modest ambitions. She just wants a job that will take care of her needs. And then, she meets Hasil.
Meanwhile, Hasil is still puzzled about what happened to his wife. When Pallavi and Swadha enter his life, it just gets more complicated. He knows how much he loves his wife, but what happened to her? And what about the two girls who are in love with him?
The personalities of the main players in the story are well developed, with background stories providing the reasons for their attitudes towards life. The three main characters drive the story as the author unravels the romantic tangle they have got themselves into.
Coming to the author Novoneel, I would say that yet again with this book, he hasn't surprised me as he again delivered his best. It seems as if he has millions of thoughts in his mind which he has to put in a book and he ends up putting only 1% of it. The desperation of giving the best can be seen in every sentence that is a part of his stories. With this book, I am now done with all the three books of Novoneel and I can undoubtedly say that he is one among the rare authors who love to write a character-based novel where we are told everything about the characters since their birth. It gives us an insight into the characters of the people involved in the book which makes us understand their state of mind before reading what they actually think during an important scenario of the book. His language might seem difficult for some starters but its as smooth as the flowing water of river. Oops, even I started writing like him. Haha!!!
This book is an exceptionally well-written story where the character of each of the three main characters is portrayed descriptively which makes us feel attached with each and every sentence. Again, I would say, the way Novoneel narrates the teenage love does not make the part look cheesy and childish but even that has so much of philosophy and deep meaning involved in it. As a youth, I also got to learn as to what shortcomings a parent goes through while nourishing a child which I'll have to take care when I will become a father. :-) This book consists of everything- a boy losing his memory, he forgetting everything about his wife and wanting to meet her, his friend trying to fool him, his childhood admirer coming back to his life, a new girl wanting to get close to her, the changes that a girl feels when she attains puberty, experience of a girl during her first period, feeling during the first sex encounter, a family's outlook towards a baby girl, how a girl gets physically abused by a respected member of the family just because there's no respect for girls involved in the family's culture, what consequences an ambitious model faces in the Bollywood industry, how a girl saves herself when a MMS of hers is recorded etc etc etc.
This book is full of twists and turns and everything that you want in a book. Though, I felt that the second half gets stretched too much. Or to be precise, the pre-climax part of the book. The climax is once again not satisfying as it does not happen the way we predict the story to end. :-) And I am also doubtful about Novoneel C's style of closing a story that you feel something is incomplete. He leaves the end for the reader to decide. This is something that may be his specialty but I find it very contradicting to my choice for the climaxes of the beautiful stories as of those Novoneel C writes. :-) In all, I would give this novel 3.75/5. Waiting for the 4th novel of the author to release soon. :)
Reading contemporary Indian English fiction is a hectic task. You have to put your effort to find the story but ultimately you will end up with some erotic scenes and useless monologue. The characterization is very poor they don’t seem to develop till the novel ends. The language and narration are pathetic. It will jump from one scent to another without creating a proper link and sequence.
The author is vocal about being a female voice in his novels and fails miserably and degrades them to an erotic novel. The hero of the novel Hassil is shown in a way that can not do anything wrong. But we all know, whether it’s Bollywood cinema or contemporary fiction Heros are of the best qualities they are flawless. They are no less than a cupid in lovemaking and no less than Richard Branson in creating a business empire from Scratch. If you look for the background of how did it happen you will end up with the reason that he is a hero so he can do anything.
This was the first book I've read by the author and after reading it I was so much in love with the narration and the characters especially Pallavi Vimani. Most of the people would hate Pallavi because she is the exact opposite of what our patriarchal society expects how a woman should be. The author succeeded in deepening the reader's perspectives by making us see beyond the external camouflaged personality of the characters like Pallavi into deep into their soul. Beneath the arrogant and 'spoiled brat of a rich father' persona, the author illuminates her inner light and goodness until the end. The ending of the story with Pallavi's letter written for Hasil is the perfect example showcasing the depth in her character beneath the shallows.
Love, sometimes we fail to define it or understand it. Pallavi,an arrogant, self loving girl falls in love with Dino (Haasil). But she couldn't get love back. She keeps on living her life in her own way. Chilling, fucking random guys and so on. Swadha, a kind heart, is also in love with haasil. She feels like God has given her a chance to entre in Haasil's life when she hears about his wife's death. Haasil, has lost his wife and his memory too. He finds a photo of woman in his wardrobe. Nitin, his best friend tells him she is his wife but couldn't tell him about her death. Haasil wants to meet his wife. At the airport, Nitin finds a girl looking same as of Haasil's wife- she is Pallavi.
An interest story. Keeps you engaged till the last page.
Another perfection created by Novoneel Chakraborty.
The story begins when 3 different lives crosses paths eventually. Two are in love with the same man who is already committed to his fiancee. But is that it? A triangle love story? You can never expect that from this amazing author. Haasil, the main character here has lost his wife in an accident and is himself lost his past memories. But is she really dead? Because nobody found her dead body yet. How life will treat Haasil afterwards?
This book is amazingly written with plot twists and romance. If you are a romance sucker, then you definitely will love this. Because every chaptee of ir has it's own plot which will keep you hooked to the book.
I'm proudly going to recommend it to everyone out there.
Novoneel Chakraborthy gave great feast to readers its completely my view which was really touching !! The plot was planned like 3 different characters Pallavi Hasil Swadha the story was travelling in three different directions !! The way those people was linked ro each other was simply mindblowing !! The noval has all the essence right from How a girl without any care or love from parents behave , miseries of women the domination by men on women,Emotional scenes were well portrayed and the circumstances which makes the people to behave or act etc was welll depicted !! #Novoneel one among the author in Priority List
