My thanks to Tangled Tree Publishing, H.R. Mason and Netgalley.
This book have me chills, broke my heart and annoyed the heck outta me!
Everyone who knows me also knows that I absolutely despise love stories! They also know I love me some ghosties! This book had it all! But, what it mostly has is a really good take about love, hate and how sometimes certain things are meant to be.
Crikey! I ended the book with tears. 😢😢. That's so annoying!
I really enjoyed this book.

Aubrey Ross endured a hard life since the moment she opened her eyes to the world. Now at 25, she was still finding her direction, struggling to make ends meet. But a turn of event was about to change her life drastically whether she wanted it or not.

The book started quite strong with the intriguing premise and I like the eerie gothic atmosphere. However, the intensity didn’t carry throughout the book. It needed more depth which could help

When the blurb says haunted house, paranormal activity and premonitions I'm game. This book didn't disappoint. It's all the above complemented by excellent fast paced writing and indepth characters.

Aubry is a survivor. Abandoned by her single mother at three years old and put in the system, she knows life is tough.
Now 25, she's struggling to make ends meet with no family or safety net to rely on. Inheriting the family estate and all the wealth that comes with it, was the last thing she expected

I cannot say enough good things about this book. It sucked me in right from the beginning, and if I'd had the ability to read the whole thing in one sitting, you best believe I would have. I hated having to put it down to deal with that pesky thing called life, but as soon as I would pick it back up again, I was lost once more in the world of Desolate Ridge. It's such a well-written novel, and you feel for each and every character involved. The description of the house and town are so vivid and ...more

Aubrey Ross was used to only relying upon herself for many years, but at twenty-five years old, she receives news of an inheritance and the possibility of discovering why she was abandoned by her family. Upon arriving at Desolate Ridge, the ancestral estate, Aubrey’s premonitions intensify stirring more questions and unease about her family’s history.

“She’d spent her life trying not to feel anything. Emotions were nothing but barriers to survival.”

Last of the Ross line, Aubrey has grown up as an orphan and is shocked when she learns that she is the sole heir of an estate and now has more money and possessions that she ever could have imagined.

I will admit, I was a little skeptical about this book. I am mostly a romance reader with some psychological thrillers thrown in there every now and then. The author sent me a copy of this book, not for a review but gifted it to me to get this book out there. Let me just say that I loved it! It was equal parts creepy, believable (if your a believer) and intriguing. I thought Aubrey was a very strong female character and although she was guarded initially, it was nice to see her flourish a bit. T ...more

Two days later and I still don't know what to say about this book. I am left speechless. Nothing Hidden Ever Stays is captivating right from the get go, and it only got better! The secrets this house holds. I loved every minute of it. I devoured it in a day, I just could not put it down!

I loved this! I love a good creeper with an old haunted house. Aubrey Ross was abandoned and lived with foster family after foster family. A hard life. Aubrey is also gifted. She has premonitions. When she is given the deed to a house that was her family's home, strange and creepy things begin to happen. This has all the feels. An excellent spooky creeper. I loved it.

I read a lot of novels featuring haunted houses, and sometimes the characters’ lives get in the way, slowing down the action. Nothing Hidden Ever Stays is different in that the character’s history is the key to unlocking the mystery. Aubrey Ross grew up in foster care and has been keeping herself barely above the poverty line, isolated and alone. All that she knows about her family is that her mother abandoned her. She then discovers that she comes from a long lineage and she is also the sole he ...more

Aubrey was left in a hospital as a small child leaving her to grow up in the foster system, never getting the family she wanted. As a 25 year old she's struggling to make ends meet, working in a dead end job with no real family or friends to help her out. Then one day she's approached after work by a man who informs her that her last living relative has now passed leaving her to inherit the family estate and all of the wealth that comes with that.

Haunted house books are my favorite reads of all time and this book did not disappoint. The book also has a bit of mystery to it which is another favorite of mine. There's romance as well. There is lots of violence, in the form of domestic abuse and murder. There are no sex scenes and very little colorful language.

This was my first book by HR Mason but I am hooked. The story was in full swing from page one and did not slow down at all throughout the book. It was a hard book to put down for me,

Want a book to put you in the mood for some spookiness? You’ve come to the right place.

Nothing Hidden Ever Stays weaves a tale of mystery around the Ross family. For decades, people would die young from unsolved or tragic deaths. Their single heir would grow to follow the same fate, generation after generation.

Alternating between Aubrey in present day and each heir as the years progress, you discover a sinister curse has plagued the family from the start. Can Aubrey break this cycle? Or will s

I loved every minute of this book! Normally I do not find myself interested in supernatural stories but once I read the description for this book, I found it intriguing and was so glad to be approved to read the ARC. This was a fast pace supernatural-mystery with so many twists, turns and mystery that your head will spin! (In a good way!) I was pulled in right from the start and couldn't out this book down. This was definitely an impulse request - the title, cover and premise of a haunted estate intrigued me. And oddly enough, this is the third book that I have read in October that has included the old nursery rhyme about crows/magpies/blackbirds: "One for sorrow/Two for joy/Three for a girl/Four for a boy/Five for silver/Six for gold/Seven for a secret never to be told."

The book begins with orphaned and rather destitute Aubrey Ross learning that she has inherited a massive fortune and an estate ca

This story is told from two points of view that of Aubrey in the present day and that of the women who had lived at Desolate Ridge, from each generation dating back to 1819, this gives the story some background and atmosphere, insanity and madness seems to have been the main reason that things had happened. Maybe if Aubrey has been around in the 1800’s she would also have been deemed insane or mad. So many barbaric things happened against the women.

Aubrey Ross had been abandoned at a hospital wh

I’m just saying: I will always show up for haunted buildings. Especially ones with cool names like Desolate Ridge.

I’ll admit that after coming off of some of the haunted house books I’ve read lately, I had high expectations, and this book just wasn’t quite there. I had originally rated this a three, but after writing my rev

Gothic suspense at it's best. I'm reminded of Rebecca, a novel by Daphne du Maurier and a movie that I loved growing up that was directed by Alfred Hitchcock, the master of dark suspense. It echoes in a great way, the scary yet beautiful mansion, the woman thrust into the throws of the wealthy life and not knowing what to do with it, the haunting hallways and dark family secrets that she both fears and unearths. It's a marvelous book and if you like Hitchock movies like Rebecca you will enjoy th ...more

Sometimes things should stay hidden!!

I just admit I started out not being really thrilled with this plot but then it really took off! I'm not thrilled with stories that go back and forth from the present and the past but it worked well in this story. This story was really well written and you become really involved with the characters. Unfortunately finding out all the secrets proved to be fateful!! I would highly recommend this book!

Let me say this first...I have never written a book review. This is an amazing book from start to finish. The going back and forth between the years was great. It's an easy, fast-paced read that keeps you wanting to see what happens next. The ending really caught me off guard. I can't wait for her next one.

This book genuinely surprised me. There aren't alot of supernatural suspense books that really hook me in, but this one did!! Almost read it all in one sitting but alas sleep had other plans. Characters are relatable, supernatural happenings almost every page and talk about a twist you don't see coming. Absolutely loved this book. Highly recommend!

4.5 stars. Great creepy setting and centuries-old family curse. Greedily, I wanted to see more of the caretakers and have more interaction with them before the ending. But I'm the same way with my favorite foods - I always want a little more.

Fascinating ghost story with a beautiful ending.

It took me a while to get into the story. I could not find much to like about the main character. As the story continued ,this changed dramatically. Well worth reading.
