The Not-So-Perfect Princess by Melissa McClone is book Two in the Her Royal Duty Series. This is the story of Prince Alejandro and Princess Julianna. I have read the previous book and feel that added to my enjoyment of this book, but this can be a standalone book if you wish to do so.
Julianna has a few failed engagements and her father has set her to marry Prince Enrique and if that fails he will marry her off to a regular nobleman. Which if done in her country she is more or less property of h

If you read the first book in this series and loved it, than you'll be even more blown away by this one.

We met Julianna in the first book, and even in the first book I loved her. But in this story, her story, I fell even more in love with her. She is such a strong female heroine and as the book went on, I just couldn't get enough of her. Her hero on the other hand, Alejandro is everything she needed. He's sexy, has the same hobbies as her, and really gives her the wings to fly. Hone

Each book is better than the last.

Princess Julianna is set to wed Prince Enrique to serve her country. This isn't the first time she has been betrothed, but she is hoping this is the last time she is involved in an arranged marriage. All is well until she realizes the hot prince she met is Enrique's brother and the black sheep of the family.

Ironically the reason Julianna agrees to go through with this wedding is for female independence...something she doesn't have. However, with Prince Alejandro

The second royal story has the perfect title and I loved this story more.Princess Julianna is caught between love and her duty.It was hard to watch her struggle with her choices when the men in her life try to make decisions on her behalf.
This book captures her growth and how her matured self makes the perfect decision.Julianna and Alejandro have sizzling chemistry and I was so happy for them.

Not so Perfect Princess! This was a sweet, fun story of a princess torn between duty and love. I was rooting for Prince Alejandro throughout the whole story and was VERY happy when him and Jules realized love is more important than any kind of duty you think you have to do. I loved that Jules finally found her voice and finally stopped letting the men in her life control her. I also loved that she could command that sailboat as good as any man. Great story!!

I loved reading The Not-So-Perfect Princess, book two in Melissa McClone’s Her Royal Duty series. Like many girls and young women, Princess Julianna dreamt that she would marry for love, but her father the king did not care what she wanted. Despite doing everything asked of her, each of the matches the King arranged left her cold and disheartened. After being introduced to Prince Enrique, her betrothed, she is discouraged by his antiquated attitude toward women, just like her father’s. Basically ...more

I have to go and say that this book was pretty much boring to me.And the main heroes weren't all that special,in fact they were boring.

Princess Julianna, after three fallen engagements,is set to merry Crown Prince Enrique. This is her father's last attempt to marry her into the royal family and if it this engagement fails,Julianna will marry a nobleman from her country. For Julianna, marrying a nobleman would be total disaster, because that means she will forever be at mercy of her husband. At her old

Princess Julianna captured my attention in 'The Reluctant Princess' and I really wanted her to get her own HEA. Her father has arranged several matches, and not one of them have panned out to this point. They were all in love with another. This time her match is the Crown Prince of an Island in the Mediterranean.

With her love of sailing, she is pretty sure that living on an island will afford her many opportunities to sail the ocean.

Prince Enrique has signed a somewhat unique marriage agreement,

What a unique story! The Not-So-Perfect Princess was so different than other books. I really enjoyed the fresh plot and dynamic characters. This book was even better than the first. I cannot wait to see what happens next.

Julianna is prim and proper, just as her father demands of her. The only problem is she has a wild side that she cannot seem to let go. Will an arranged marriage to a foreign prince tame her wild spirit? I really loved Julianna. Her wild spirit spoke to something inside of me. I

This is more like a 4.5 star rating. You get a glimpse of how awesome a person Princess Julianna is in book #1. She is the diligent daughter. She went and did what her father wanted her to go or do. She was all about staying loyal to her country but she wasn't happy. She wants to marry for love and be able to sail whenever she wants to. Just simple things like that. She meets Enrique but is drawn to his younger brother Alejandro. He doesn't care about being the prince or having an royal duties. ...more

Though I did have to look up some of the sailing terms, I enjoyed Jules’ story.
A princess born to follow orders and fulfill her duty , even resigning herself to an arranged marriage. Few people knew the real woman beneath her mask of duty. Her father, her family, and even her fiancé could not hold back her love of sailing. And is it so bad that her soon-to-be brother-in-law sees the truth and makes her sailing dreams come true? But what will be the price when the truth comes out, because the tr

But once she meets Enrique's brother, Prince Alejandro who shares the love of sailing with her. Alejandro does not want to be part of the throne but enjoys living on the wild side. Jules was cold in the previous book with her relationship with her fiance at the time Prince Niko, but it was clear that she was passionate about sailing. Her father was controlling and cruel even from a distance as he worked out her marriage contract with her latest fiance and the restrictions Prince Enrique should impose on her. His brother Prince Alejandro was a sexy bad boy business man and sailor and she was attracted to him from their first meeting. I loved his rescue kitten Boots and it m ...more

This is Book 2 of Her Royal Duty Series by this author and can be read as a standalone. It is a clean, wholesome romance between Princess Julianna and her betrothed's brother, Prince Alejandro. These characters are likable, their connection strong, and the unconventional plot makes for a heartwarming read. It is refreshing to read the push and pull and ups and downs in their relationship. It is a sweet love story with more than enough drama, humor, and love, plus engaging secondary characters to ...more

Julianna is raised to be a proper princess and to do her duty. Now she’s one opportunity left to get married. She’s hoping for a husband who won’t restrict her in her passions, sailing and helping other women. Alejandro the second son of a king just wants one thing, to be free to help his island to prosper. When they first meet it seems they have nothing in common, but why would they, they are not meant to each other, she would marry his brother. But when they discover a mutual passion what will ...more

I enjoyed reading Princess Julianna’s story after meeting her in The Reluctant Princess, but I kept wondering where the backbone she displayed in that book was in this one. I wanted her to be bolder than she was and not let her father walk on all over her. But I guess that’s why I’m not a princess!
Alejandro caught my attention and admiration right away. As the “spare” in his royal family, he’s virtually ignored by his own father, while the responsibility for the monarchy falls on his humorless b

I first met Julianna in A Reluctant Princess and loved her. She has such a kind heart and wants to honor her father by fulfilling her "duty". He just made me so mad. How can a father treat his daughter that way. Alejandro was the second born son so not in line for the throne. These two are adorable together. I will admit I wasn't crazy about them spending time together while she was engaged to his brother. Julianna finally stands up for herself even though the consequences were pretty bad. Glad ...more

Right from the opening of this book my heart goes out to Julianna. I'm not a fan of her father. I wanted to knock some sense into him. She has one more shot to make him happy and do her duty of marrying a prince of his choosing. It's going to lead her on the path she never expected. I really liked Alejandro too bad he is not the prince she's arranged to marry, but his brother is. That right there sets up some interesting scenarios. What I loved most about Alejandro is he sees Julianna for hersel ...more

OMG Melissa has done it again. The story of Jules takes you on quite a ride. A princess who wants to do her duty but still follow her heart. This does cause lots of conflict.

Jules gets a chance to agree to one last arrangement for marriage. Can she fall in love with Prince Enrique or will his brother win her heart?

With her love of sailing will she be allowed to continue or will she have to give up? You must read to find out

I love reading books about princesses and their duty to their country. Jules wanted to change how men looked at women and their roles. She wanted to love her husband and be loved but in an arranged marriage it may not happen. She put duty before what she wants. I can’t wait to read the next book in this series.

I give this book 5 out of 5 stars.

A good story but...

Although the story was enjoyable and I likes Jules from the first book, this one wasn’t really my cup of tea. I am not a sailor and at times the story got bogged down with nautical terms. Also, as hard as I tried, I couldn’t find an acceptable pronunciation for her country. I ended up calling in Nestle.
When the story was actually talking about her relationship with her father, her fiancé, or the hero, it was interesting.
